Fall in Love with the Dominant Billionaire
Chapter 81 She Never Asks for Help
Reese never asked anyone for help, especially not from men. Despite Malcolm being her “Darling in name, she knew well enough the deceit that a noble façade could hide. Her past naivety had led her to trust too easily – a mistake she wouldn’t repeat.
Better to leave some questions unasked, some suspicions buried. She wouldn’t dwell on the dark hunches anymore.
Malcolm watched her, radiating a pride that was at once alluring and unapologetic, and he couldn’t help but let slip a husky
chuckle.
“Feeling feisty, huh? Just think about it – if you go digging yourself,‘ll be such a hassle. You have no clue where to start. Just sweetly call me ‘Darling‘ and let me do the searching for you. It’s quick and easy, and it’ll save you a whole lot of trouble. Besides, I’m only asking for a ‘Darling, not for you to sleep with me.”
Reese’s fists clenched at his teasing words, a defiant fire burning in her voice. “One more word, and you’ll have to believe I’m this close to shutting you up for good.”
Malcolm leaned in, his eyes twinkling with mischief as he locked gaze with Reese’s furious ones. “And how would you do that? Seal
it with a kiss? Like this…”
His words hung in the air as he planted a swift, teasing peck on Reese’s plush, rosy lips before quickly pulling away. In that instant of retreat, her fist swung at him, the force of her punch buzzing past his cheek.
Malcolm could almost feel the rage emanating from her. That punch, had it landed, would have left half of his face swollen for sure – the girl didn’t know her own strength.
Justin Chabon, sensing the brewing storm between them, hit the brakes hard. Reese, caught off–guard and unable to steady herself, tumbled straight into Malcolm’s arms, her head thudding against his abdomen. It wasn’t hard, but it packed enough force to elicit a muffled grunt from her, her usually composed demeanor flushed with unexpected embarrassment.
“Mr. Flynn, are you alright?” Justin Chabon called out anxiously from the front seat.
“Look away!” Malcolm barked, his tone sharp with authority.
Justin, instantly retracting at the awkward encounter, shrank back and resumed driving, all the while thinking, My God, did I really see the Madam falling into Mr. Flynn’s arms, blushing like a shy schoolgirl?
Malcolm looked down at Reese’s petite head against him, a playful smirk tracing his lips. “So, wifey enjoys making an entrance into my arms?”
“Get off me!” Reese snapped back, quickly lifting her head and scooting away from him. Her porcelain cheeks turned a brighter shade of red; her eyes hinted at a flustered panic, her heart racing like it was about to leap out of her throat.
Malcolm rarely saw her this flustered and found it utterly delightful, his gaze fixed on her discomposed state, his mood considerably brightened.
She’s getting more beautiful by the day.
The tension in the car was palpable. Reese, feeling Malcolm’s intense gaze, started to panic and shifted her focus to Justin Chabon.
Justin Chabon, you did that on purpose, didn’t you?” she accused.
Justin Chabon shivered, “Madam, I wouldn’t dare, but Sir has instructed me to always protect Mr. Flynn’s safety.”
“Do I look like I’m going to bite him?” Reese pouted, frustrated by the perception everyone seemed to have of her as some sort of

tigress. She had her graceful moments too, didn’t she?
Justin Chabon chuckled, “Whether Madam could ‘devour‘ Mr. Flynn, that’s for Mr. Flynn to decide.”
As long as Mr. Flynn was on board, anything could happen. But judging by the current circumstances, Mr. Flynn seemed quite pleased with Madam–Reese to be specific. If she showed the slightest interest, he’d willingly offer himself up.
The atmosphere in the car suddenly charged with an undercurrent of intimacy.
Even Reese, who was usually unflappable, couldn’t help but react to justin Chabon’s teasing.
Determined to change the subject, she asked, “How did you know I was at the Brooks“?”
“We got a delivery of food from our business partners today. I thought you’d be working late, so I considered having Justin Chabon bring some to you. Turns out, you weren’t there.”
Reese’s eyes turned frosty in an instant, “So you had someone check up on me?”
Justin awkwardly retreated, sensing the tension in the air.
Malcolm frowned and countered, “My wife’s whereabouts are unknown, and I’m not supposed to enquire? What if something happened to you? Who would I rely on for the rest of my life?”
A question that should’ve sounded like an accusation, somehow, from his lips, it carried a hint of concern that left Reese momentarily lost.
She hated this unfamiliar sensation. Reese had always been a self–directed woman, never swayed by her surroundings or anyone else, let alone her emotions. Her moods were consistent year–round only the thrill of making money brought her any real sense of
joy.
But now, since marrying Malcolm, her life and emotions seemed to fluctuate with him. She experienced heart flutters, sometimes even blushing in his presence–what was that about?
Reese preferred the predictability of her life. Marrying Malcolm had been a calculated move, not one of romance. She vowed to guard her heart so she could walk away unscathed when the time came.
If her mother hadn’t poured all her energy into men, with her talent, she could have led a better life by now. Therefore, men weren’t important; making money was.
Men might leave at any moment, but money stays.
Turning away, Reese unapologetically doused Malcolm with a splash of cold truth.
“Find someone else to take care of you if you wish. I’m only here to heal your leg. As for your personal happiness, perhaps Everly would be interested. I’m sure she’d welcome the opportunity.”
It might have sounded like he was just passing the buck, but to Malcolm and Justin Chabon, it seemed like Reese stank of jealousy.
Justin couldn’t help but snicker at her earlier, and Malcolm, ever the show–off, raised an eyebrow and leaned in close to Reese, his lips practically brushing against her ear as he spoke. The heat of his breath sent shivers down her spine, and she instinctively tried to dodge away, only to find herself against the car window.
Noticing her flushed earlobe and the startled look that made her seem as vulnerable as a deer caught in headlights, Malcolm found her irresistibly charming. He hooked a finger under her chin, and with a glance full of entrancing laughter, his gaze was pure seduction.

“Jealous, are we? Don’t worry, darling, you’re the only one for me in his life. Everly’s just like a sister.”
