Fall in Love with the Dominant Billionaire
Chapter 83 Tenderness of Darling–1
With a swift side–step, Malcolm caught Reese’s wrist, his own brow furrowing.
“Why are you always on such high alert, girl?” he chided gently.
It wasn’t the first time she had lashed out unexpectedly. At her age, the should have been carefree, but there seemed to be shadows lurking in her eyes that Malcolm couldn’t quite understand.
His gut told him that Justin Chabon hadn’t fully unraveled Reese’s story–there was surely much they were still unaware of. Files and data could deceive, but the truth was in the way she moved, the way she acted, the look in her eyes that couldn’t be concealed.
Only now did Reese recognize Malcolm; a flush of embarrassment crossed her face as she sat up, tousling her hair.
“Sorry, I thought a burglar had broken in. Just a reflex. I didn’t hurt you, did 12” she asked warily.
“I’m getting used to it,” he replied with a wry smile.
Time and again, if he touched her without her knowledge, she would sense it even before his hand drew near.
Reese saw the doubt in Malcolm’s eyes.
“When I was a kid, I lived with my grandma in Backwoods: The lock on our door was unreliable, and the place wasn’t too safe. We had our fair share of break–ins, so I had to be extra vigilant,” she explained.
She hoped that her story about Backwoods would dispel his suspicions; it was true the area had its issues with thieves, but fear had never quite taken hold of her.
Malcolm pulled out a cigarette from his suit jacket pocket and lit it, propping his chin in his palm, the gesture one of ready
attention.
“And your medical skills, where’d you pick those up?” he inquired, smoke curling between them.
“My grandma knew an old Chinese medicine practitioner. Worried about my limited education, fearing I wasn’t the sharpest, she entrusted me to his tutelage for a few years.”
Her words flowed smoothly, her facial expressions utterly relaxed–there was no hint of deceit, her narrative seemed as natural as recounting her own life story.
Malcolm drew on his cigarette, exhaling a perfect ring. His slender, pale fingers, as if made for playing the piano, held the cigarette with an elegance that matched the mysterious and alluring depths of his eyes.
He remained silent, and Reese was left to wonder if he believed her. Whether he did or didn’t, the real details about her past were safe from his probing. But, she thought, it would be far better if he harbored no doubts–keeping up with lies was exhausting, and the more they multiplied, the greater the risk they might unravel during long nights filled with too many dreams.
It would probably be best if she looked into her grandmother’s situation first. By the time Malcolm got around to digging, she’d be long gone, off the radar.
Malcolm roughly gathered the gist of it: “So what you’re saying is, your grandma raised you and always worrying whether you’d be able to fend for yourself in the future?”
“Of course,” she snapped. “Did you think my deadbeat dad who ditched his family would give a damn about me?”
From the moment Kenneth abandoned them, she had become numb to the world’s coldness and her heart had turned to stone.

Chapter 83 Tenderness of Darling–1
A person could be so heartless as to disregard their own flesh and blood–since her father could do it, how could she expect any better from a man who wasn’t even related to her by blood?
No matter how nice Malcolm was now, she was done putting her trus in men. They’ll say anything when they love you, but will find a myriad of ways to hurt you when their love fades.
A woman’s life is like a direct ascent to the peak as long as she steer clear of men.

Chapter 83 Tenderness of Darling–2
Malcolm flicked his unfinished cigarette away, stepped forward, and wrapped his arms around Reese’s shoulders, drawing her close and gently patting her back.
“Don’t worry, sweetheart. From now on, I’m gonna cherish you like nobody else could, with unconditional love and adoration, making up for all the love you’ve missed.”
A twitch flickered at the corner of Reese’s eye, an instinctive urge to push Malcolm away rising within her. But he held on tightly as if he wanted to meld her into his very marrow.
His warm palm softly patted her back, soothing as if comforting a child, his voice gentle and patient.
“It’s just us here, honey. No need to be shy, just lean into your darling’s embrace.”
Reese had the gnawing urge to slap him for his nonsensical babble. As if she was that fragile–but the warmth of his hand felt unexpectedly comforting, especially since she got chills all the time, a chronic condition except for in the summer months.
Wrapped in Malcolm’s arms, warmth not only returned to her body, but her icy heart seemed to be slowly thawing too.
For now, she might as well treat him as her personal heater.
Perhaps it was the comfy embrace, but before she knew it, Reese drifted off on his shoulder, clueless as to how she ended up back in
bed.
The next day, when Reese woke up, the sun had already flooded the room, and she could hear Everly’s ruckus outside.
“This is getting ridiculous! What kind of newlywed sleeps this late? It’s less of having a wife and more like serving an ancestor,” Everly complained.
A staff member tried to hush her, “Please, Miss Everly, keep it down. The young master instructed us to let Madam sleep a bit longer.”
Everly’s heart seethed with jealousy as she overheard the staff’s comments. She’d never been on the receiving end of such preferential treatment. Only when she was sick would Malcolm break the routine and let her rest longer, unlike those early–riser
roosters.
The Flynns had their own set of strict rules, and lazy mornings were simply not an option for anyone in the family.
Yet there was Reese, who despite lacking the pedigree to match Malcolm, had the nerve to strut around, breaking the Flynn family’s longstanding traditions on her very arrival.
In this household, Grandpa and Malcolm called the shots. Malcolm’s dominance silenced any potential challenges, leaving no one daring enough to provoke him, let alone contradict him.
But Everly didn’t believe for a second that she couldn’t handle Reese.
Rolling up her sleeves, Everly barged through the door, yanking off Reese’s blanket, intending to drag her out of bed. But Reese was not a morning person. Before she could even wake up properly, Everly was already trying to muscle her out of bed forcefully.
A cold demeanor washed over Reese’s face, and the temperature in the room plummeted. Even Sandra standing by the doorway couldn’t help but rub her arms to fend off the chill.
“Why is it so cold in here?”

Reese didn’t lift a finger. One piercing look from her eyes, and Everf
“You… Do you even realize what time it is? Malcolm’s long gone, an

Clutching the blanket around her, Reese cast a disdainful glance at
“Oh, are you jealous because you can’t sleep in?”
Everly crossed her arms in front of her chest. “Jealous of what? You

Reese curled up on her bed, with no apparent intention of getting
