Chapter 88 Reese, the Actress
Without a second thought, Reese flatly rejected the idea, ‘In your dreams,”
“Well, then I’ll just kiss you,” Malcolm retorted without a hint of concern, yet before he could even lean in, Resse had already pushed him away.
Her heart raced, especially as Malcolm closed in. His presence was overwhelming, almost monopolizing the air around her.
It wasn’t that Reese hadn’t been around men, but one with Malcolm’s blend of dashing looks and flirtatious charm was a first for her, leaving her reeling.
What made it worse was his unpredictability. Here he sat in front of you, and yet you had no clue what he might do next.
She was partly annoyed with his antics.
What if she really fell for him, only for him to claim it was all just a laugh?
Reese knew that kind of blow might be more than even she could withstand. She much preferred her impassive, unaffected self.
Her gaze suddenly sharpened, a strong warning resonating in her voice.
“Malcolm, any more nonsense and I’ll seriously consider annulling our marriage sooner than planned.”
Malcolm had to admit that Reese’s stare wasn’t exactly intimidating to him, but for someone her age, it was surprisingly piercing.
He couldn’t help but chuckle. The soft overhead lighting bathed his face as his warm smile shined like the sun, seeming to chase away the chill in her heart.
“Once you enter the Flynn household and become my bride, leaving won’t be so easy,‘ he teased.
Reese was not one to be threatened, defiance sparkling in her eyes.
“You’re welcome to try.”
Malcolm saw her serious, intense expression–prickly as a hedgehog, ready to defend itself with all its might–and just smiled, raising an eyebrow.
“Upset again?”
Reese was so vexed she felt like hitting someone. She always thought of herself as composed, but this man always managed to provoke her with ease.
Yet sometimes his gentle look made her heart soft. He was her husband in name, after all, and there was no denying his striking and captivating appearance.
Ill be leaving now unless you have something else, Mr. Flynn?‘ Reese said, her face still cool.
She didn’t want to waste her time bantering with him, potentially ending up all frazzled.
‘Actually, I do have something, Malcolm responded, placing a document in front of her. “I need this by noon.”
Reese took it and skimmed through it nonchalantly–it was the plan she’d previously swiped. What was Malcolm playing at?

Chapter 88 Reese, the Actress
He had always kept a tight grip on this project. He was basically locking it away, so why was he suddenly making it available to her?
Was it a test, or something else entirely?
They were both playing a guessing game, trying to decipher each other’s thoughts, with one vital difference – Malcolm’s identity was an open book, so there was no guessing required there; it was his true intentions that remained a mystery.
Malcolm had a reputation in the industry for having only one expression, a poker face that made it impossible to predict his next move. He always chose the path less traveled, which was exactly why the Flynn Group remained the unparalleled leader in the business world.
Reese couldn’t figure him out entirely either, but she was determined not to let on.
“I might need a little time to go through this, Reese said, closing her file. “Is it okay if I get back to you before lunch?”
Malcolm’s gaze rested on her as his lips twitched with a hint of teasing amusement. “It’s that tough that you need till lunch? I thought you’d be quite familiar with this project.”
His implication was clear, and Reese certainly didn’t miss his probing tone, especially with his relentless stare that would unnerve most. But she stood her ground, “You’re just holding a grudge and making fun of me. You know about my education, my family – aren’t you simply mocking me by bringing this up?”
She pouted in displeasure and looked away. Her acting was so convincing that anyone might think she was genuinely upset.
Seeing Reese show a side so unlike her usual icy demeanor piqued Malcolm’s curiosity anew; it was a change he found quite appealing. Temporarily shelving his suspicions, he stepped forward, reaching to pull her close, but Reese sidestepped.
“Don’t touch me,” she said, the irritation in her voice softened by a hint of coyness that made his heart flutter.
No matter her mood, be it anger or cold aloofness, she captivated him – she was just his type.
“Are you angry again?” His voice was low and seductive, stirring something inside her. Reese’s calm heart began to beat faster, and her pale cheeks flushed pink. Malcolm was dangerously irresistible.
She would have never played coy if it wasn’t for her need to dispel his doubts and get past this hurdle. “If you suspect something, just have Justin Chabon check it out. No need for passive–aggressive comments.”
Reese’s eyes shone with an openness that almost convinced him of her innocence.
Malcolm wanted to say Justin Chabon wouldn’t find anything but admitting that would bruise his pride. Her pitiful look melted his heart after all. The allure of his charming wife was a hurdle he couldn’t overcome, nor did he want to. Who could resist when one’s spouse was so perfectly endearing?
“If you don’t want to tackle it, I could pass it off to someone else.”
He reached out to snatch the documents from her grasp, but Reese was having none of it
“No need, it’ll be on your desk before lunch,” she said, straightening her back and striding out of the office.
Malcolm watched her go, a gut feeling telling him his petite wife had layers hidden beneath the surface–maybe even a thwarted actor, lost to the entertainment world.
A bit more teasing and she might have even shed a tear.
Justin Chabon stood at the door, his features clouding with displeasure as he watched Reese exit. He couldn’t help feeling surprised.

Chapter 88 Reese, the Actress
Had Mr. Flynn upset Reese? That didn’t make sense–with how pleased Flynn seemed with her lately, shouldn’t they have been all lovey–dovey inside?
He pushed open the door and stepped in. “Mr. Flynn, about Reese-
“Don’t worry about it. Come here, I have instructions for you.”
Justin approached and Malcolm handed him a file. Justin’s eyebrows shot up as he looked it over.
“Mr. Flynn, if Reese finds out about this, won’t she be upset?”
