Chapter 99 I’m Malcolm’s Wife
Charles stood frozen, his world rocked as if by a thunderclap, nearly oppling from the shock.
How could this young woman possess such evidence? It wasn’t possible. If she did, then what about Robert… In front of so many witnesses, an admission from him would be tantamount to confessing his own slander against Robert. His reputation in the medical field would be shattered. Once respected, he’d become the target of his past adversaries. He couldn’t allow that.
He feigned composure, yet his fists clenched tight.
“If you’re so confident, then show me the evidence, Charles challenged with false bravado,
A chilling smile played on Reese’s lips as she looked down on Charl, who was still in denial of his impending doom.
She might have spated him if only he had apologized to Grandpa Robert, but since he refused to see the writing on the wall, she wouldn’t hold back now.
Just as Reese was
about to retrieve the file from her phone, Robert approached, supported by his aide.
“Reese, let them go. Robert said gently.
Remington was startled, “Grandpa, we can’t just let them off the hook. This mess is all because he disrupted your conference.”
People like Charles deserved to be exposed to the public’s scor. They choose death over an easy life, and this time, Remington firmly took Reese’s side.
Robert’s face was ghostly pale, and even speaking seemed a struggle Reese knew Grandpa Robert had a history of lung problems, and any emotional outbursts or agitations could easily leave him gasping for air.
He approached Charles, his face a mask of kindness with no trace of bitterness. “Charlie, out of respect for our past as partners, I’ll save you the embarrassment this time. But if there’s a next time, don’t expect me to be merciful.”
Years had passed, and he couldn’t place all the blame on Charles; he had his own share of responsibility. If he had been more careful, double–checked everything, clarified the patient’s records, perhaps the tragedy wouldn’t have occurred. That’s why he chose to forgive Charles today.
Charles hadn’t anticipated that Robert knew everything about that fateful error, which ultimately led to a patient’s death. Robert had never mentioned a word about it.
He had assumed ignorance, but Robert understood the situation better than anyone. Suddenly, Charles felt ashamed of his DIATI baseless suspicions and couldn’t bear to face Robert.
Megan, watching the silent Charles, called out, “Dad…”
“Let’s go,” he replied.
“But… Just like that? What about them?” The recent confrontation with Reese still stung Megan. She was not ready to let it go.
In her eyes, apart from Reese’s good looks, she had nothing valuable to offer. Only she herself was worthy of Malcolm.
Let’s go. Staying here will only make things worse,” Charles said, his earlier dominance withering away as he led a dejected Megan
away from the scene..
The commotion settled down, and the media’s attention shifted from Charles and Robert to Reese and Malcolm.

Malcolm’s slitted eyes followed a gaze not far off, finally resting on Remington, who seemed clueless as to what was going down but could feel Malcolm’s eyes boring into him, a hint of amusement flickering at the edges.

Badgered by incessant questions from reporters, she finally grabbed microphone from one.
“Stop guessing about my identity. I’m Reese, no connections, not born with a silver spoon – just an ordinary person. As for Malcolm’s miraculous recovery? Well, marrying me brought a stroke of ancestral fortune. That’s all there is to it.”
