Chapter 11
[Exactly! Millicent was the crown jewel of TV, the highest–rated golden host, and the top influencer online. The entire station
practically revolved around her!]
The wave of flattery from her fans in the livestream swelled Millicent‘ s confidence. Fueled by their adoration, she resolved to stir up a scene at the hospital where Odette worked.
After all, Odette was an easy target. Millicent had poked and prodded her countless times, and Odette never once tattled to Benedict
about it.
Why would she? Millicent smirked to herself.
Chapter 11
Even if Benedict found out, what difference
would it make?
She had convinced herself that Benedict‘ s
heart had shifted. He didn’t love Odette
anymore; that’s why she even had this opening.
Odette was just a small–town doctor, tucked away in her empty house. At the same time, Millicent basked in the spotlight, adored and envied by millions.
Millicent thrived on the thought. If she kept up the pressure, Odette would crumble, and Benedict would drift further away.
She traced her manicured finger along her jaw, remembering the tattoo Benedict had once etched into his skin, a cloud. It was

proof of devotion, wasn’t it? Surely, it wasn’t for Odette.
If Millicent played her cards right and provoked enough chaos, maybe Odette would be the one to ask for a divorce. And then? The
coveted title of Mrs. Evander would be hers.
Fueled by inflated confidence and cheered on by her delusional fanbase, Millicent strutted into the hospital, her presence as loud as a marching band. With an army of supporters at her back, she was convinced she could rip away Odette’s so–called façade.
However, reality hit like a cold slap. Despite her grand entrance, Millicent was met with disappointment. Odette wasn’t there.
Unwilling to back down, Millicent stationed

herself in the corridor, her voice carrying like a siren. “If she hadn‘ t shoved me, I wouldn’t still be in pain! My baby, who knows if it’s even okay?” She clutched her stomach dramatically, her words laced with
accusation.
A nurse stepped forward cautiously. “Miss, wasn’t yesterday enough? Director Clarendon truly isn‘ t in today.”
But Millicent wasn‘ t one to be reasoned with. Her eyes brimmed with fake tears, her sobs calculated. “Why don’t you take me to gynecology and check on my baby? Or do you all just want something to happen to it?”
The nurse, trying to maintain composure, suggested calmly, “Let’s get a proper

checkup. That would be best for you and the child.”
Millicent pointed a trembling finger, her voice rising to a fever pitch. “So this is Regency General Hospital, is it? Protecting her because she’s a department head? My baby’s life means nothing to you?”
Within moments, her fans arrived in droves, their devotion unquestioning. The corridor swarmed with a restless crowd, buzzing with
indignation.
Several doctors rushed to the scene, their faces strained as they attempted to defuse the escalating chaos.
“Millicent’s absolutely right! Drag that
heartless doctor out here and make her kneel

to apologize!” a voice shouted, igniting the
crowd.
“How can someone so immoral hold the title
of department head? Are the hospital higher- ups blind?” another chimed in, fueling the growing outrage.
“She can’t just push someone down the stairs and walk away without taking responsibility!”
“First, a plagiarism scandal, and now this? Does this hospital even care about ethics? Or is it the same doctor causing all the chaos?”
One particularly bold fan squinted at the corridor‘ s glass wall, where the department heads‘ names and photos were displayed.
“Let’s see… how many Clarendons work
Chapter 11 here?”
A moment of silence hung in the air as eager eyes scanned the wall. Then, someone spoke up, triumphant. “There’s only one Clarendon listed, Odette Clarendon, head of ophthalmology. Is this her, Millicent?‘
Millicent’s lips curled into a smug smile as she nodded. “That‘ s her.”
“What nonsense are you spewing? Director Clarendon is the finest doctor in this hospital! She restored my daughter’s sight!” a patient’s relative bellowed, their voice trembling with indignation.
The tension snapped like a taut string. One of Millicent’s more volatile fans lunged
forward, shoving the speaker to the ground

with a force that echoed in the corridor.
“Did she pay you off to defend her? Huh? How much did she give you?” the fan sneered, venom dripping from their words.
“Yeah, as if we’d believe the praises of someone blinded by her lies! She ruins people’s lives, and you‘ re singing her praises? Have you all lost your minds?” fan‘ s voice rose, each word sharper than the last, slicing through the mounting chaos.
