Chapter 22
“You still want compensation? What a dreamer you are! You drove Odette away, and
now I want your life!”
Benedict gripped Millicent‘ s neck with unrelenting force.
Her face flushed crimson as she gasped for air.
“Don’t you fear that I’ll post all the evidence of your affair online……”
Millicent’s breath came in violent spurts.
A cold, deadly light flashed in Benedict‘ s eyes. “Do as you wish.”
With Odette gone, what more was there to

lose?
His reputation? The Evander family? Money? None of it mattered anymore.
If Millicent dared to expose it all, she would only bring misery upon herself.
She was digging her own grave; why should
he care?
Benedict slammed the door shut, turning to pack his belongings with cold resolve.
Seeing no advantage left, Millicent was left with no choice but to scramble for help from her gambling father.
When Millicent‘ s father found her in such a
disheveled state, he immediately assumed she had strayed from the path and gave her a

vicious beating.
In her fury and desperation, Millicent snatched her father’s phone and ran away.
Once she found safety, she quickly logged into her email, accessed the dashcam footage and the hospital’s hidden video, and posted them online.
It didn’t take long for the world to know the once–admired CEO of the Evander family, Benedict, had fallen from grace.
Before, when people admired Odette‘ s colorful life, they believed she had simply let
- go.
But now, Millicent had exposed Benedict‘ s affair for everyone to see.
Chapter 22
After releasing the videos, Millicent patiently waited, knowing the Evander family wouldn’t be able to ignore the scandal for long.
Even if Benedict didn’t care, the rest of the family surely would.
The scandal would hurt their business, and they wouldn’t stand for it.
Soon, those who had scorned Millicent began to attack Benedict instead.
But Benedict paid it no mind.
For an entire week, he hardly slept, working tirelessly, preparing for his exit the following week.
Millicent had misjudged everything; she was

nothing but a fool in the eyes of the public, and no one cared.
The scandal was quickly hushed, thanks to his father’s money, but Millicent’s hopes for compensation were dashed.
With her debts piling up, she found herself standing on the brink.
A few days later, in the quiet, early hours of the morning, Millicent leaped from an
overpass.
Below her, a sea of cars flowed endlessly, oblivious to the tragedy unfolding above.
With Millicent‘ s death came the unmasking of the infamous debutante training school she had attended, and it was swiftly brought to justice.
Chapter 22
Benedict threw himself into his work with
reckless abandon, not canceling a single meeting or project collaboration. He worked relentlessly, his schedule packed from dawn until dusk, spinning in circles like a top on the edge of collapse.
After a week of brutal overtime, he had lost weight and looked drained, as if his very soul had been drained along with his energy.
Late at night, after the day’s work had ended, he would drive to the places he had once shared with Odette.
Sometimes, when the weight of it all became too much, he would clutch his phone, Odette‘ s photo on the screen, and break
down, his sobs echoing in the quiet of the

night.
Once his work was finally completed,
Benedict set off.
There was no stopping him now.
He packed with swift, practiced hands and reached out to doctors from distant hospitals.
His journey to South Africa for medical aid was already in motion.
With everything in place, Benedict resolutely set off to find Odette.
Before leaving, Benedict cast one final glance at his parents.
He wasn’t sure if he would ever return.
On the first day after arriving in South Africa,
he still had no idea where Odette was.
Chapter 22
Each time he arrived in a new village, he would show the locals Odette‘ s photo on his phone, asking anyone who might know her.
With the doctors leading him, Benedict ventured deeper into war–torn areas, his heart set on finding even the faintest trace of Odette.
