Michael couldn’t care less about what these relatives and friends truly came for.
Elizabeth cared even less.

All the scheming and plotting in rich families was none of Elizabeth’s business.
She was about to divorce Michael. No way she was wasting her time and energy here. All she needed was to look after herself and the baby before the split, then figure out how to save The Jones Group.
That was Robert’s lifelong career.
With the company on the edge of going under, Elizabeth couldn’t just ignore it.
As the bodyguard wheeled Michael in, Mary rushed over, grabbing his arm, all worried.
“Michael, how’s the recovery going?” Mary’s concern was obvious.
“Pretty good,” Michael said, checking out Mary’s face.
Mary looked all rosy and full of energy; it seemed like her hospital stay did her good.
“That’s good,” Mary patted his hand.
Then she turned to Elizabeth, “Elizabeth, Is Michael treating you right? If he’s giving you a hard time, do tell me.”
Elizabeth shook her head, “He’s not bullying me. Everything’s fine. But you gotta take care of yourself.”
She could still throw out some polite words.
She knew Mary’s words were just for show. No need to take them seriously.
Mary said, “As long as you and Michael are getting along, I’ll be fine with everything,” Mary said. earnestly, looking at Elizabeth. “Elizabeth, Michael was all about studying when he was young, and how he’s all about Stellar Enterprises. He’s never dated a girl. If he messes up, cut him some slack. You’re married now, so make it work. For men, their
can give you a better life. It’ll make you look good too. Don’t you think?”
After Mary finished, Elizabeth shot a questioning look at Michael.
Michae had never dated a girl?
What was that supposed to mean?
Was that girl in the princess dress someone he liked?
Was she the one he couldn’t get over?
Did he fail to date that girl?
Who was this girl that Michael was so secretive about?
She looked so innocent and naive,

Chapter 17 Be a Good Wife to Michael
Elizabeth suddenly got curious about her.
After all, she had turned down Michael, who was every woman’s dream.
Michael signaled the bodyguard to wheel him to the dining table.
Mary had Elizabeth sit on the couch next to her.
She grabbed Elizabeth’s hand and started her spiel, “Elizabeth, listen up. You and Michael are married now. Be a good wife. If you have kids, take care of them and the house. Michael’s out working every day for the company and the family. Elizabeth, you should help him out at home! Michael’s not into romance, so be more generous.”
To sum up, Mary wanted Elizabeth to be a housewife.
She added, “Elizabeth, I’ve been hearing things in the hospital.”
“I heard Robert’s funeral was just over. Elizabeth, it must’ve been rough for you,” Mary patted Elizabeth’s hand, looking all sympathetic. “I’m
sorry for my absence. I’ll talk to Michael, get him to spend more time with you. Don’t just stay holed up in your
room alone.”
Mary always thought Michael would always listen to her.
But Elizabeth didn’t argue, just quietly listening on the side.
“I heard the lawyer already announced Robert’s inheritance. Elizabeth, even though Michael’s got a ton of assets, he hasn’t handed them over to you. You usually ask him for money, right? Since Robert left you his house, car, and shops, just take them. As for Robert’s company, I think you should let it go. The deficit’s huge! Not everyone can cover that kind of financial gap. Even if you sold everything, you couldn’t make up for it. The Jones Group’s already a mess. With Michael, you don’t need to worry about anything else,” Mary bubbled.
Elizabeth always knew Mary didn’t really care about her.
If Michael hadn’t fallen into a coma and the docs hadn’t said he’d probably stay that way, Mary would never have let someone like Elizabeth marry into the Thomas Family.
Elizabeth knew she was just a baby–making machine in Mary’s eyes.
In Mary’s mind, Elizabeth shouldn’t have her own thoughts or an independent life.
However, Elizabeth wasn’t about to play along.
So she spoke calmly, “The Jones Group is my dad’s life’s work. He poured everything into it, and the new products he developed haven’t even hit the market yet. I don’t want his efforts to go to waste. Whether I can do it or not, I want to try. I just hope my dad wouldn’t blame me.”
Before Mary could respond, Karen jumped in, “Elizabeth, if your dad could’ve saved the company, wouldn’t he have done it himself? If even he couldn’t do it, how can you? The Jones Group’s current crisis lies on that it lacked funds, Karen said, giving Elizabeth a sideways glance. “Elizabeth, you’re not planning to ask Michael for that money, are you? Two hundred million dollars is no small amount, Michael might not give you that money. How awkward would that be for you?”
William also chimed in, “Elizabeth, when you married into the Thoms Family, we gave you a lot of money. But it seems Robert didn’t give you any, right? No matter how much The Jones Group made before, Robert didn’t spend much on you, did he? Now that he’s gone, let lus company go bankrupt and you’re married to Miche, just be good to Michael. Don’t think about taking money from Michael to support the Jones Group. If It doesn’t work out, the money you invest will be wasted-
Elizabeth latened as the relatives and friends of the Thomas l’amily one after another, shot down her idea of taking over The Jones
