Let The Alpha Fall 87

Let The Alpha Fall 87

What do you mean everything?! I have nothing to offer you!”
Astra spat out, confusion lacing her voice. If she could muster enough energy to at least take out the guard, then she would be free. The witch that was in the room had left moments after she came in, leaving only the three of them.
Sabine would fear her enough to run for her safety and the guard was the only one she could conveniently take out even with little power left.
She could do it.
Her eyes darted around the room again. It was stuffy, two large work tables joined together stood at the side of it. The
table was strewn with herbs, twigs, potions, everything witchy.
The floor underneath her beard feet was covered in a thick rug. Sabine was across her, safely behind a table and tucked in
a chair.
There were two guards guarding outside the door, she had seen them coming in, after they had taken her blindfold.
She could take them out just as easily too.
She would be out in no time and on the streets then be free from all their shenanigans. But she had to stall. Just a little
longer to gather the dregs of her strength.
“Oh you would soon find out.”
Astra sighed.
“Why?”
“Why?”
Sabine repeated.
“Yes why. Why are you doing all of this? What do I have to do with your fight?”
Sabine shrugged.
“Oh don’t think too much about it. I just needed a nephilim and you were the quickest one I could find.”
“I’ve actually been monitoring you ever since Lori showed up at your doorstep. You know I led her to you right?!”
“You thought they were after only her but I wanted to keep my eyes on you too.”
So taking in Lori had been her mistake. Always has, always would be.
“For what reason?”
Astra asked and Sabine smiled.
“I’ll admit. I’ve always had some sort of fascination with your kind.”
“While I might be of similar heritage with you… what I earned in comparison to your powers is merely a trickle. Probably
nothing…”
“And how’s that my business?!”
Astra retorted.
Sabine sighed.
“You’re right. It’s not your business.”
She murmured.
“But like I was saying… this fascination grew even more when I met Lori.”
“That weak girl killed thirty of my werewolves.”
Sabine scoffed, remembering it all again. The pile and pile of bodies…
It still made her shiver.
Astra didn’t even flinch. Lori killed all those people unintentionally. Her powers had awakened and they took a hold of
her. It wasn’t her fault.
“And I was wondering… how come I didn’t get any of that?!”
Astra sighed.
How would she?
She was way more wolf than nephilim.
“Your ancestor might have not been a full nephilim. Our powers come in different levels, depending on how diluted the
angel blood in us is.”
“Two nephilim would equal a stronger nephilim. One nephilim and human would equal a weak nephilim. Nephilims with
human blood practically give birth to humans.”
Astra explained.
Sabine tilted her head as she nodded in agreement.
“Interesting…”
“So.. that would mean Lori is a full nephilim…”
Astra shrugged.
She didn’t know who Lori’s father was. So she couldn’t make that assumption but it was very possible.
“And her son… is only half.”
Sabine’s voice was tinged with a hint of disappointment.
“Son!!”
Astra asked in confusion but Sabine ignored her, she looked deep in thoughts.
That was her cue. It was finally time to leave.
Astra sharply turned and grabbed the bodyguard behind her by the arm, with her turn of her hand she broke twisted his
arm so hard she could hear the bones dislocating. Before he had time to register the shock, Astra hit him in the face with
her fist, the guard fell to the ground with a thud.
The door was unguarded and she made a run for it, Sabine was behind her watching, she didn’t even make a sound.
Astra forced the door opened and found two more guards waiting for her. One of them made a reach for her and she
ducked, low enough to make his hand connect to the wall behind.
The other ran towards her and Astra swerved, making a run for it.
The hallway was long and narrow, but she couldn’t see any more guards and there was a stairway. They would chase her,
that she knew. They would be faster than her too.
She had to make sure they wouldn’t follow her.
She turned and threw a punch to her nearest assailant. The man threw back one of his own, Astra tried as much as
possible to avoid it but the punch landed on her jaw. The pain stung for seconds before it went away.
She didn’t let it deter her as she attacked again.
Behind her, she could see a figure approaching. It was the witch that left the room before. Astra tried to stay out of her
way while fighting the two guards in front of her but she felt weak.
Her powers dwindling.
The witch suddenly grabbed her hand and Astra hissed at the contact.
The burn!
What was that?!
She turned to the woman and before she knew it a dark object in the shape of a handcuff was clamped to her wrist.
The witch stared at her. She had serpent eyes. Unnaturally yellow and slitted. Astra sneered at her but the witch didn’t
bulge. She slowly removed her palm from hers and Astra saw the tattoo underneath.
It was the tattoo of an eye with a pentagon.
Great.
She had never encountered so much black magic and dark objects in her life till Sabine had kidnapped her.
What exactly was this woman planning and why did she have so many dark objects?
And what was a witch doing with an alpha?
Clearly she was without a coven and also practicing forbidden magic.
“What makes a witch fraternize with a wolf.”
She asked angrily as she was dragged back into the room where Sabine was seated waiting for her.
She had a smug look on her face. Astra felt like clawing the smugness off her face. If she managed to come inches close
to her, she would rip out her face with her bare teeth.
“Business is business. Regardless of the kind.”
The witch whispered. Her voice was deep. So deep and gruff that she couldn’t recognize where her accent would be
from.
“Bullshit.”
Astra spat out.
“You must be a traitor. Practicing black magic and consorting yourself with the likes of her.”
“She’d betray you. I promise you she will. She betrays all who work for her. You’re next.”
The witch seemed to ponder on Astra’s words. Then she finally smiled and turned to Sabine.
“Feisty isn’t she?”
Sabine nodded, a smirk on her face.
“She is. Is it ready?”
The witch nodded.
“I was bringing it up for you.”
She muttered as she reached into her coat.
“What?! What are you doing?!!”
Astra started stammering. Fear clogging her voice.
“Relax. Just a little experiment. If it works… you’d be lucky to not have another trial. If it doesn’t… well you can expect more trials and I doubt they’d be painless.”
Her eyes met with Sabine.
“What are you trying to do?”
She asked as calmly as she could muster.
Sabine was silent for a while before standing up from her chair.
She was dressed so casually no one would every suspect the kind of monster she was. Stir pink cashmere sweater and
small white shorts.
“You see… in a week we’re to have an Alpha’s summit. A meeting of alphas of the sort.”
“I, feeling anger and wanting revenge for all the pain and anger Lori and Gabriel have caused me decided to turn the
other alphas against them..”
Sabine sighed as she folded her arms.
“I told them what she was… what she did to me. Unfortunately they don’t believe me.”
“I’m finding a way to make sure that they believe me.”
Astra shifted uncomfortably on her knees. Gulping hard as the words started registering in her head.
“And how will you do that?”
“Ahh!”
She exclaimed as she pointed to the witch at the work table.
“That’s where Siobhan comes in. She’s going to come up with some sort of magical instrument that will drive you crazy.
The kind of crazy that would hopefully have you going on a rampage where you be one very violent.”
“You see Siobhan is renowned for this. She has tested this formula on wolves, vampires, it even works on some demons!!
But never your kind so she’s happy to try.”
Astra went pale. Pale and sick in the mouth.
Sabine leaned, close to Astras ears and whispered.
“You’re our first nephilim test subject.”
“The final product will be tested on that bitch Lori.”
*****************
She had been training in the underground, yet never thought to check the cells that were currently holding Vara and Lyle.
Lyle she did not want to see. She still couldn’t bare to look at him.
But Vara… she had to see her.
Lori had snuck out of her training room when Myra went out to attend an errand. She had given her a task but Lori
couldn’t concentrate and got tired easily.
She had grown increasingly nervous when Gabriel had told her about the alpha’s summit. She had to attend… and from
what Gabriel told her, if Sabine was really spreading rumors against her she had to do something.
She had to be in complete control of her self. And her being. She had to go back to being the old harmless Lori, just to make sure there wouldn’t be any matters arising.
Vara’s cell was the last. At the end of the hallway. In front of the cell, Vara barely shifted. It was either she was too weak to
lift up her head and see what she was doing or she had truly passed out.
Her cell was clean. A bit. Draco had once remarked that she rarely ate her meals, and if she did she was extremely picky
about it.
She was sitting in the floor, her palms to her hair and she looked deep in thoughts.
“Why did you kill him?!”
Lori asked and Vara barely flinched as she raised her head slowly.
“I’ve killed many people…”
She croaked and Lori shook her head.
“But you didn’t have to kill him! He did nothing wrong.”
True. True she didn’t have to and the guilt would be in her heart forever.
“He was in my way…”
“He wasn’t harming you… you know that…”
Vara shrugged. Lori turned her nose at the stench of Vara wafted towards her.
She smelled like wet dirty dog.
“Did Sabine send you?”
Vara chuckled.
“And what does it matter if she does? I was merely carrying out orders.”
“Elliot… he interfered. He wasn’t part of the plan but he was my way.”
It wasn’t the words she was expecting. She was expecting some sort of apology. But Vara has offered her none. In fact…
Lori thought she even sounded a bit too smug.
“And my son? Do you know where Sabine took him?”
The woman shook her head.
“I could free you. Do you know that?… all you’d have to do is give her location.”
“I will never betray my Alpha.”
Vara replied.
“And where has that blind loyalty gotten you to?”
Lori snapped.
“Where is your alpha now?!?!”
“She’s probably over somewhere living her life and you’re here paying for her crimes.”
“If you think you’d leave this rotten cell and ever see the rays of the sun again… you must be joking.”
Lori crouched, the two of them stared eye to eye.
Vara’s eyes danced with mischief and little remorse and Lori hated it.
It made her so angry that Vara could do nothing and still piss her off.
“No one’s coming to save you here. Not even Sabine.”
Lori turned around to leave, she was halfway back to the elevator when Vara shouted feebly.
“Wait.”
