Let The Alpha Fall 89

Let The Alpha Fall 89

There were only two people Gabriel really and truly cared about. Lori and Emilia. And he had tried to keep them as safe
as he could. Away from his world, away from the nastiness and conflicts. But now, all that was about to change with Lori.
Since she was going to be his Luna, it was only logical she attended the Alpha’s summit and while he didn’t dispute the
fact that she ought to attend, he had the unnerving feeling that Sabine was planning something.
Talking to the Alphas must have been stage one, but what the hell was stage two of her plan?
No one would be gullible enough to believe Sabine without evidence, so he knew that was the next phase of her plan.
Gathering evidence, getting them to believe her. Any way possible she could get it.
He hoped she would attend, she was bold enough to actually attend. She would believe that he wouldn’t be able to
touch or hurt her in front of so many other alphas but that was where she would be wrong. If she managed to come to
the Alpha’s summit then Sabine could consider herself as good as dead.
That was the only thing he was truly sure of.
The Alpha’s summit was in a matter of days, and with each passing day he could feel Lori’s growing anxiety. He tried to
relieve her of her worries, he would hold her tightly at night and wished that his warmth evaporated all her fears.
She had also been very particular about training these days. She wanted to show off her wings and while Gabriel didn’t mind, he knew how much pressure it was exerting on her. He had come to see her at training and saw that she was
pushing herself, more than he had ever seen.
He was impressed but very worried. She was trying so hard to reel her emotions in, to not make a mistake. He wished she
didn’t have to try in the first place.
For Lori shift into her full self, with all those people, all those eyes on her waiting for one slip up. It would be no ordinary
feat but she had insisted that she would do it.
There was a slight knock on his glass door, interrupting his thoughts. Gabriel turned to look and saw Draco standing at
the other side of the glass. He beckoned him to come in, although he couldn’t fathom why he was knocking in the first
place.
“Draco.”
“Alpha.”
He said as he walked in. There was a small file in his left hand. Gabriel wondered what it was. Official invite for the alpha
summit had come in and Gabriel had been getting a few calls from the alphas he was close with. Everyone was
confirming attendance, as well as trying to find the latest gossip on each other.
It was nothing out of the ordinary, it happened every year, Gabriel was just a little more invested in it this year more than
he had ever been because of what the Summit held.
“I’m just trying to get some work done…”
He muttered as he pointed to the stack of paperwork on his table. Draco raised his eyebrow. He adjusted the collar of his
shirt as he looked at all the paperwork he had to deal with again, he was looking forward to the days he wouldn’t have to
do them again.
“What happened to getting a new CEO?”
Gabriel shrugged.
“That’s coming along… I just need to finish up with a few things.”
“What brings you here?”
He glanced at Draco who sat down across from him and tossed the file on his table. Gabriel picked it up.
It contained the usual, pack reports, concerns, their needs, he would go through that later. He tossed it aside and turned
to his beta.
“A lot of things. I would have waited until later but it cannot wait.”
Gabriel sighed.
It was going to be another busy day it seemed.
“Well… Elliot’s mother tried to visit Lyle today. She made a scene when I told her she couldn’t. I asked her to take it up
with you but she’s getting more persistent.”
“We need to do something about him.”
Draco added.
He agreed. Something did need to be done about Lyle. After all that he had done, Gabriel would never let him back into
his pack, but he also couldn’t properly punish him, not with his mother pleading for clemency.
“Not now. One thing at a time. He can rot in there for a while. I’ll speak to his mother.”
And hopefully warn her that even though he would do as she asked, her son would be banished and punished
accordingly. If he wouldn’t be the one to exert the punishment then he would make someone else do it, like the Invito.
They would be happy to.
“Anything else?”
“Yes. There’s more. A witch tipped us off last night about Sabine. She’s in New York. Spotted in the Witches corner. The
witch believed she was procuring a witch. A nasty kind.”
Gabriel raised his eyebrow.
“This is the first time we have something tangible on her.”
Draco nodded.
“Yes. I tried to find out where she would be, if she or the Reinhardt family would have property in New York where she would be hiding out but nothing came up. But if she is in New York I believe that narrows our search.”
“What should I do?”
Draco asked and Gabriel scratched his chin.
Pursue her of course. He would have that woman’s head. One way or the other.
“Pay another visit to Vara. Give her one last chance to talk. Then have our people in New York start looking.”
Draco looked elated.
He nodded.
“I promise you we’ll find her.”
Gabriel smiled tightly.
It was too soon to make promises. Sabine was as slippery as an eel, he wasn’t betting on anything. Perhaps she had
intentionally slipped up.
“Let’s hope it’s not another trick up her sleeve. I’m quite frankly tired of that woman.”
Draco nodded.
“She’s smart to stay away. She knows she cannot win if she fights you head on. So she resorts to tricks, games and
treachery.”
Gabriel sighed.
“And it’s working. She has Lori’s son. She knows I cannot harm her until I ensure he’s safe. She was smart to take him…”
Yes. Lori’s son. The one thing that was standing between Sabine and her total destruction.
The one reason he had not put a hit on her head yet, or kill her beta that was currently rotting in his cell.
Draco cleared his throat loudly.
“I heard from Myra that Lori is showing her wings. Do you think that’s a good idea?”
Draco sounded unsure. Gabriel nodded his head.
It was a good idea and he was ashamed he had not thought of it.
“It is.”
“With all the rumors…”
“They are only just rumors at the end of the day. They don’t mean anything. And Lori is nephilim, I think it’ll be a great
idea to show her at her full strength, send down some fear in the hearts of the alphas who are growing too bold.”
“They’d think twice before crossing me.”
***********
“So, here’s just a basic rundown of all the important alphas you would meet.”
Myra said as she pointed to the whiteboard.
She had made a little drawing, with markers and names that Lori wasn’t familiar with, to make it easier for her at the
Summit. Lori was touched that she would go to such extents for her, to teach her what she needed to know.
“Now there’s at least a hundred and twenty three recognized alphas. They will all be at the gathering. But there are only
six names you need to remember.”
“Six?!”
Lori raised her eyebrow and Myra nodded.
“Yea six. Those are the big names. The big packs with the most desirable territories. Most of the alphas too also come
from money so it makes it so much more better. They’re the kind of people you hear in the news, or you hear on the worlds most influential men on Forbes list so you can see why this Summit is top top secret.”
Lori nodded.
Myra had also told her that the location of the summit wasn’t always released until the day of the summit, which even
after then you would need a special password to get into. Sometimes you would need to get in with your wolf form but
Myra said that was a long time ago when Summits were held in the woods. Now it was a different time.
A shinier time. She had remarked.
“Now, let me start with the most familiar one. You must have heard of him. Kate Caddel’s father, George Caddel.”
“I have.”
Lori answered with a frown on her face as she folded her arms. Did that mean she would have to see Kate? Because from
the little she had seen Kate liked to follow her father everywhere. She might come.
“One of the largest packs in the country. Old family like Gabriel’s too. Also what you might consider a relatively peaceful
pack. We’ve never had an issue with them and they’ve never had an issue with anybody…”
“Next.”
Lori murmured.
Myra nodded.
They went through more names. Alpha Jaffar in the Middle East, a formidable adversary. He dominated his territory and
mostly kept to himself. Alpha Imani who had one of the largest packs in Africa. She had fought and killed her three
brothers to rightfully claim her throne, which had made her paranoid and untrusting of strangers. Myra warned Lori to
stay away from her, lest she took her showing of wings as an invitation to a fight.
There was Odina from the far ends of Alaska, who had united with some indigenous packs in Canada and was now even more formidable. Greyhound in London, a posh man who was the heir to a billionaire conglomerate. Myra told Lori not
to be too shocked when she saw him.
“And oh, one last one.”
“Then there’s Axel. Don’t be fooled by his looks. He’s a devil in disguise.”
“He’s what you’d call the big bad wolf. His pack is the most depraved. He lets his wolves run free and commit heinous
crimes.”
Lori raised an eyebrow.
“Why hasn’t anyone stopped him?”
Myra shrugged.
“They can’t. He dabbles in the occult arts. He keeps witches as friends and bedmates and he killed his mate when she
tried to reject him. Everyone just chose to stay out of his way instead…”
“That doesn’t seem right.”
Lori stated and Myra shrugged.
“It’s what safe. We wolves never back down from a fight but there are some fights it’s better to avoid. And you do not
want one with Axel.”
Lori nodded.
“I will stay away from him then.”
Myra sighed as she muttered underneath her breath.
“I hope he stays away from you…”
***************
“Did it work?”
Sabine asked eagerly as she rushed down the hallway.
Siobhan had a wicked smile on her face.
“See for yourself.”
She pointed to the door.
Sabine looked at her with slight nervousness and anxiety.
“Is it safe?”
Siobhan nodded.
“The effects have worn off now and she has been shackled with my dark objects. It is safe.”
Sabine looked visibly relieved.
Siobhan walked towards the door and opened it.
Sabine gasped.
Her face paled and her dinner threatened to fly out of her mouth.
She turned away.
“Who are those people?!”
She exclaimed as she looked away.
“Think of them as mice…”
“How did you get them here?!”
Siobhan smirked.
“I lured them here with the promise of cash. They came willingly.”
“And she did this?! To them?!”
Sabine asked again and the witch nodded.
She looked at Astra again, in the middle of the trashed room, three bodies laying on the floor, all slashed and torn to
ribbons. Blood splattered on the walls.
She had tested her work on wolves, vampires, other lessers, but never on nephilim. And now, she wished she had found
one earlier to test on. Because the results were magnificent.
“She did. A little provocation set her off…”
Sabine shook her head.
No. It would be a bloodbath if Lori did this at the summit.
“Smaller doses would have a similar but less drastic effect right? I’m not looking for a bloodbath like this.”
Sabine murmured and Siobhan nodded.
“Yes. I’d prepare smaller doses. We just have to find a way to administer it.”
