Let The Alpha Fall 92

Let The Alpha Fall 92

She heaved a sigh of relief when Axel loosened his grip and let her go.
Lori walked to Gabriel’s side.
He must have snuck up to them. That would explain how they didn’t notice him.
There was an unreadable expression on Gabriel’s face, while Axel seemed to be smiling.
“Relax. We were just having a chat.”
“Really? Didn’t sound like one.”
Axel raised his eyebrow.
“Oh you were listening in? Interesting.”
“I was just curious about your beautiful mate here. I’ve never met an actual nephilim before…”
“She told you to let her go and you didn’t. I’d advise you to steer clear of her next time.”
Axel chuckled.
“Or what?! Are you threatening me?”
“Interpret it however you like. But if you lay one finger on her again I’ll have your entire hand dislocated from your body.”
Lori placed a hand on Gabriel’s shoulder, silently pleading for him to let it go, people were starting to look.
Axel looked around and started laughing loudly.
“Did you all just fucking hear that?! He just threatened to kill me!”
The people around them started murmuring and more people started to look their way.
“Gabriel.”
Lori called softly but Gabriel didn’t budge. He stood rigidly while glaring at Axel.
If looks could kill Axel would probably be six feet under.
“Did I make myself clear?”
Gabriel asked.
Axel continued to make a scene. Laughing loudly and repeating to anyone who cared that Gabriel threatened him.
Lori was sick of him.
“Gabriel.”
She said more firmly as she finally squeezed his arm, tight enough to hurt.
He looked away briefly and stared at her.
Then he stared right at her.
“What?”
Lori asked as she turned towards the direction he was staring at.
He was staring at the entrance. Right where Sabine Reinhardt was.
Walking right into the Summit.
Lori’s hands dropped to her side.
What was she doing here?!
She asked herself.
Before she could turn to look at Gabriel she noticed he was already away from her. He was walking straight to Sabine.
Lori rushed after him, but it was too late.
Gabriel grabbed Sabine by the neck and pinned her to the nearest wall. Her body slammed the wall so hard that Lori
could have sworn she heard a crack. Even Sabine flinched hard.
Everyone exclaimed.
“Where the fuck is he?!”
He bellowed at her but Sabine didn’t even budge. She was just smiling.
“Release her Alpha Caine.”
One alpha said nearby.
He walked towards the midst of the commotion. Lori didn’t know who he was but many other alphas were walking
towards the commotion.
“Gabriel. Gabriel.”
Lori pleaded as she tugged at his arm.
“Relax everyone. I’m just asking Alpha Sabine a few questions.”
He said out loud and all Sabine did was raise her eyebrow.
Axel had walked into the commotion.
“Physical violence is prohibited at the Summit Caine. I didn’t know you were itching for a fight so bad”
He sneered.
“Leave him.”
Sabine forced the words out, her voice was strained. Of course with Gabriel’s hand on her neck it was very hard for her to
talk.
“If he wants war then war he’s going to get. He and his mate have already taken all I have from me.”
“Taken from you?!”
Lori scoffed from behind Gabriel.
“You are the one who has taken from us. You took Elliot, you kidnapped me, you took my son!”
Lori exclaimed. Everyone was looking at each other, the murmuring grew louder.
Kate and her father came into the mix.
“Alpha Caine it is enough.”
Kate’s father said.
Gabriel shook his head.
“I’ll let her go when she gives me what I want.”
“I have nothing of yours.”
Sabine spat out angrily.
“Perhaps you could tell them about how you killed my beta and at how that your devil’s spawn of a mate there killed
thirty of my wolves. Explain that!”
“Gabriel, if you don’t release her then you can consider yourself officially at war with my pack. Sabine Reinhardt is my
official ally.”
Ally?!
Lori thought as she turned to Kate and her father.
They had allied themselves with this despicable woman?
She looked at Kate in disgust, but Kate had a smug look on her face.
Lori went up to Gabriel and touched his arm.
“Let’s go.
She said to him through the link.
He released the hold he had on Sabine’s neck and together they walked away.
“I can’t just let her leave like that.”
Gabriel whispered as they walked to the food table Lori had led them to. She pretended to be interested in a piece of
cake.
“I know. But there’s too many people here. You can’t do anything without starting a fight.”
Gabriel’s jaw hardened.
“I don’t care. Do you know how much pain and trauma that woman caused us?!”
“I know. But starting a fight here… it’s not worth it.”
“What did Kate’s father mean?”
She asked nervously and Gabriel sighed.
“I didn’t know they were allies. They both have nothing to offer each other and Sabine and George don’t get along. This
new allegiance must be recent… and I’m suspecting it must be because of us.”
Lori looked at Sabine. She couldn’t believe the woman was in the same room as her and she was just walking freely. After
everything she had done to them.
Lori wanted to throttle her!
She had worn a black dress just like hers, except hers was strapless and it had a really high slit. She was talking to George,
Kate’s father. They were laughing together, even Kate had joined in the laughter.
It was infuriating to see.
“An alliance because of us? So does that mean we can’t hurt her?”
Gabriel also had his eyes on her. Unlike Lori’s glare, he had a killer’s look on his face.
He was angry. She could feel his anger so much and so strongly that it felt physically hot to be near him.
“We can. But that would mean we’re at war with every pack she allied with.”
“I don’t care. I’m getting her one way or the other.”
Lori shook her head.
“No. That’s too obvious. She was expecting the altercation. She obviously came here to prove a point. If you attack her in
front of all these people…”
Gabriel groaned.
“She has your son Lori! Did you forget that?”
Lori was taken aback.
Forget?!
She had never been able to forget that. The fact that she had never even had the chance to hold him before. Ever! He was the one thing she could never forget. Sure she had tried to live her life like it didn’t happen. But she could never
forget him.
“I gave birth to him. Do you think I forgot that?!”
She snapped at him.
Gabriel’s expression softened.
“I didn’t mean it that way…”
Lori sighed.
“I know you’re angry. Trust me I’m fuming too but we need to stay calm.”
Gabriel sighed.
“You’re right.”
“I have to go to the Lady’s room. I have a plan.”
She murmured to him.
Gabriel’s eyes shot up to hers.
“What is it?”
“I can’t say now. But if I’m not back in five minutes then you can come looking for me.”
Gabriel grabbed her hand.
“Are you sure it is safe?!”
“It is. I can handle myself.”
She assured him as she walked away. Lori could see Sabine watching her from the corner of her eye, so she walked right
past Sabine.
The woman would follow her. She was hoping that she did. Sabine could never resist a fight and Lori was hoping they would both be alone in the bathroom.
In the ladies room. She stood in front of the sink and stared at the large mirror.
She washed her hands, then pretended to touch up her makeup while one woman came out of the stalls.
There was another washing her hands at the far end of the bathroom, but the woman didn’t raise her head to look at
Lori.
One of them left. And shortly after Kate walked in.
Was she surprised?
She was.
She was expecting Sabine. Not Kate.
Kate stood next to her, turning on the tap next to hers.
Lori ignored her, concentrating on the pristine white sink in front of her.
“You must have been expecting Sabine.”
Lori shrugged.
“I came here to use the bathroom.”
Kate chuckled.
“Oh don’t be like that. It was very obvious.”
Lori turned to her.
“Why are you here then?”
She asked, emphasis on the you.
Kate shrugged.
“I’m merely here to deliver a message.”
“And what message is that?”
She asked.
Kate stretched out her hand. There was an envelope in it.
Lori looked at it dubiously. It was a strange looking envelope. Brown and it looked like there was something large in it.
“What is that?”
“A letter from Sabine.”
Lori raised her eyebrows.
“I’m not touching that. You think I’m stupid?”
“You read it.”
She demanded as she folded her arms.
Kate’s smile faltered a bit.
She looked around the bathroom.
Two women chattering loudly walked in. They paused and their faces visibly paled when they saw Lori. They quietly
disappeared into respective bathroom stalls.
“You’re being too paranoid.”
“And you’re being suspicious.”
Lori retorted.
“It’s a private letter. For you only.”
Kate defended herself.
Lori shrugged.
“I don’t mind you and the women in this bathroom hearing it.”
Kate scoffed.
“Fine.”
Kate reached for the envelope but then in a sudden twist of events, she reached for Lori. Fist formed into a punch
approaching. She was fast, but Lori had anticipated the move.
She hit Kate under the jaw while simultaneously avoiding her punch. Kate stepped back and swung at her. Lori shrugged
her shoulder up and took the punch on it, the pain stung, but dissipated in seconds.
She hit Kate four times, three lefts and a right in the face. Kate stumbled back, blood rushing from her nose.
This time. She wouldn’t give her her blood.
This time she hoped there was a scar.
“You bitch.”
Kate murmured as she touched her bleeding nose.
Lori was still too engrossed in the scene in front of her to notice Sabine sneaking up on her from the other entrance.
When she saw the shadow and turned, it was already too late.
Sabine jabbed a needle into her arm.
Lori staggered as she quickly removed the needle from her arm.
“What?! What is that?!”
Sabine ignored her as she walked out.
Kate stood upright and walked to the sink, she washed her nose. The wound was healing, slowly but healing.
It was an ambush. They had ambushed her.
Sabine had sent Kate to distract her.
But why?
And what was in the needle?!
Poison?!
Kate turned to her as she used a tissue to wipe the left over blood on her face.
She smirked as she saw the confused look on Lori’s face. Lori stared at her arm. She felt fine but she knew whatever was
in the needle was dangerous.
“You know… I always knew I’d make you pay for what you did at Elliot’s funeral.”
“I didn’t know when you were going to pay… but I’m glad it’s happening now.”
Lori chuckled.
“You partnered with Sabine to bring me down?”
Kate shrugged.
“The enemy of my enemy is my friend.”
“I’m sure you’ve heard that phrase.”
Kate murmured.
She had not. But she knew about it all too well. Just like how Lyle had partnered with Sabine to bring Gabriel down. And
How her adopted brother had also done the same and now Kate was doing the same thing.
Why did it seem like everywhere they turned they found enemies?!
Why?!
“You picked a wrong friend. After she uses you, she’s going to leave you high and dry.”
Lori suddenly felt queasy. She managed to compose herself but her hand flew to her head.
God… why did she feel the insane urge to turn?
Kate shrugged.
“Perhaps. But I’ll get what I want before that.”
“Goodbye.”
With that, she left the bathroom.
Lori doubled over in agony.
She looked at her palms and felt her claws sharpening. Her wings were growing.
She slowly stood up, trying to fight it.
Fight whatever inner battle was going on in her body.
She heard voices and rushed into a stall.
Twisting the lock so hard that the metal bended.
She would stay there for a while.
Seconds felt like hours and Lori could feel rage growing in her. Like an overwhelming pit of fire. She knelt on the floor,
not caring that her knees would scrape the granite and slapped her wrists on the side of the walls. She dug her claws into
the concrete stone wall, anything to restrain herself, the pain was blinding.
Even if it was just for a few moments. Before the rage threatened to override her senses.
The stupid amulet Gabriel had given her.
What was it’s use?!
This was no a dark object, but it was dark magic.
It should be protecting her?!
‘Gabriel. I need you.’
She called through their bond.
She would hold on.
Until he came.
Just until he came
