Let The Alpha Fall 95

Let The Alpha Fall 95

Leaving so soon?”
Axel snickered as he snuck up to Sabine. She jumped nervously. Surprised that he had even followed her. Even in the
middle of the ongoing summit.
“You startled me.”
She murmured as she kept her distance, one eye out for her driver to bring the car around and another cautiously watching Axel. She didn’t like him and for good reason too. Volatile, unpredictable, wild, they just didn’t mix. She never
thought they would too.
She had intentionally kept him out of all her plans, she didn’t need to be acquainted with him, but there he was, right in
front of her.
Chasing the drama presumably. He must have heard the rumors. And perhaps he was present to either confirm them for
himself or he had another agenda. Whatever it was, Sabine desperately wished there was a way to wiggle out of the
conversation.
The night air was chilly and she was starting to feel the chilly hair on her skin. She didn’t bring a coat, she had practically
rushed to the Summit. She had only planned to attend as an afterthought, when she wasn’t sure Kate would do a good
job of subduing Lori. She had only come for that and to get a rise out of the two of them.
One of which she succeeded in doing. The alphas must have seen Gabriel’s outburst, it was wholly and entirely left to
them to see how they interpreted it.
Lori on the other hand, she was still confused as to how and why the plan didn’t work. It was meant to work. Supposed
to. She would throttle the witch when she saw her. Her whole plan had depended on it, now it was all thwarted. And worse still… she had only succeeded in making them even more angry at her.
“Sorry about that. Where are you going?”
He asked and Sabine shrugged.
“I have a pack emergency.”
She lied and Axel raised an eyebrow. He saw through her lie.
“Can’t your beta take care of that?”
She shrugged.
“I don’t have a beta anymore.”
“Thanks to Gabriel and Lori.”
She murmured underneath her breath but Axel caught on to her words.
“I was very intrigued by you today.”
He said. His voice smooth like honey, his eyes were on her, he had a charming smile on his face.
“Intrigued?”
She repeated and he nodded.
“Yes. I think it was wrong for Gabriel to attack you like that… I liked the way you stood your ground… that’s rare.”
Sabine smiled bashfully.
Oh well… perhaps all had not gone completely bad.
“I was cornered… Gabriel and Lori have taken so much from me… It’s been particularly hard.”
Axel nodded.
“I see… It’s sad indeed. Perhaps we could talk about it sometimes soon…”
Sabine raised her eyebrow.
This… this could be an opportunity… a new opportunity.
“Do you wish to help me? In my fight against Alpha Caine?”
Axel chuckled.
“Oh that’s too soon to tell. I’ve had no problems with the alpha before… I’m not about to start throwing hands because of
you.”
Sabine’s smile fell from her face.
“Then what exactly is the purpose of this said meeting?!”
She snapped and Axel shrugged.
“To examine my options Sabine… and determine whether or not you’re a worthy ally to have…”
Sabine nodded.
“I look forward to the meeting then.”
Sabine would take any allies she could get. While George Caddel might be rich and powerful with a mighty pack, he wasn’t exactly itching for a war with Gabriel. They had allied mainly because of his daughter who was still salty over her
altercation with Lori.
She desperately wanted revenge and sought out Sabine. Sabine had eagerly accepted, the protection George Caddel would offer her was enough to make her untouchable, at least for a while.
But Axel. Axel would never back away from a fight. If their interests aligned, she would love to work beside him.
There was only one problem. Sabine was definitely sure he wanted something in return. Whatever reason he had walked
up to her… it hadn’t been because he wanted to help her, it was because he wanted something.
She wondered what it was.
***************
The Sunmit had gone on like nothing happened. And Lori quickly found out that she hated it. She was bored out of her
mind and while she tried to stay interested and awake, she was completely exhausted. Gabriel on the other hand tried to make up for the lost time by being actively involved in the discussions. Lori just wished she could go home and they would snuggle in bed. It was really all she wanted but she had to hold out for much longer.
Not to mention her mind was in an emotional turmoil. She couldn’t stop thinking about Sabine and what she had
attempted. The woman was crazy.
Lori hated her. She wanted so badly to hurt the woman just like she hurt her but she had her son and Lori had no idea
where her boy was. Or where she could be hiding him.
They had searched. They were still searching… before Sabine had hid in the shadows, but now her new partnership had
emboldened her. Made her bold enough to come to the Summit.
Lori wished she could have used Vara for something. Leverage maybe, but it didn’t seem like the woman cared much for
her beta.
The summit ended hours later. With several pleasantries following after. Lori stayed glued to Gabriel’s side, she felt safer
at his side… than anywhere else. Especially with Kate’s piercing eyes on her.
She was angry. Whatever stupid plan they had come up with had gone awry.
She had been able to fight the blood magic, but she could still feel the after effects of it in her bloodstream.
The sluggishness… the tiredness.. she felt weary too.
Gabriel could feel everything she was feeling and he tried to calm her down as much as he could. He was constantly
holding her, talking in her mind or simply rubbing her fingers.
Lori was grateful when he finally whispered that they could leave. The after party was still ongoing… but it was already
considered a respectful time to leave and they could.
On their way out the ran into one of the alphas Myra had told her about.
Imani. A gorgeous woman with heavy gold accessories. She was clothed in a traditional colorful attire and her long raven
black silky hair was adorned with gold threads.
“Caine. It’s been how many years?”
She asked and Gabriel smiled.
“At least five. You don’t call anymore.”
Imani turned to Lori.
“You must be his mate. My name is Imani.”
Lori smiled and stretched out her hand. The woman seemed warm and friendly. She liked her already.
“Lori. Nice to meet you.”
“Oh the pleasure is mine. I saw you when you walked in… you were spectacular.”
Lori blushed furiously. The woman sounded like she was in awe of her. She couldn’t believe it.
“Thank you.”
“Lori this is Imani. We met years ago, when I was still fighting for my place as Alpha. We were in somewhat of a similar
predicament, except she had to fight her three brothers to death for her throne. She’s Alpha of the Sahara Hounds.”
“You flatter me Caine.”
Imani replied bashfully.
Imani turned to Gabriel again.
“A nephilim mate? The goddess has favorites.”
Gabriel chuckled.
“And you’re one of them. I heard you finally found your mate.”
Imani sighed.
“Took me at least twelve years but I did. And he was literally at the edge of the world. But it made the wait worth it.”
“I’m happy for you.”
He remarked and the woman nodded.
“I leave in a week. We should have lunch before I leave. I would love your company.”
“That can be arranged. I hope you’d remember to call this time.”
“Oh I will.”
Imani said as she turned to Lori.
“I wish you well.”
She said as she left.
Lori glanced at Gabriel as she smiled at him.
“Finally we get to go home and forget about this terrible terrible night.”
She murmured as they walked out of the building. The night air was chilly, Lori rubbed her arms.
Gabriel shrugged off his jacket as he placed it over her arms.
“Yes. After everything that happened today… I just want to lie in bed with you.”
“And sleep.”
Lori added.
“Sleep. Of course.”
Gabriel nodded, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“Calling the chauffeur to bring the car around.”
He murmured.
“Caine!!”
A voice called from behind and Gabriel tightened his fists.
“What do you want?!”
He asked as he glared at Axel.
Axel raised his hands in mock surrender as he walked towards them, a smirk on his face.
“Relax! Relax! I just want to apologize for what happened earlier.”
“We’re leaving.”
Gabriel said to Lori as he turned her away from Axel.
Axel rushed towards their front, blocking their path.
“No hard feelings right?! You must understand…”
“No. I don’t. And I don’t intend to understand. Thank you for your apology but we really need to leave.”
Axel sighed.
“How about dinner?! To show you my good intentions?”
“No thank you.”
Lori answered this time… a deep frown forming on her face.
Something about the man gave her the creeps. He looked sinister.
“Are you sure?!!”
He called out after them as they walked away.
Gabriel have no reply.
Lori turned to look at him for the last time and saw his eyes on her, he was smiling.
He blew her a kiss and whispered a few words.
She would have missed it if she wasn’t staring so intently at him.
But she saw his mouth form over the words and her breath hitched as she realized what he had said.
I’m coming for you, Lori.
