Chapter 45
The wait for Gabriel to come home was long and uncomfortable. Lori moved back upstairs to stay in the nursery,
Kate Caddel kept demanding for stuff, most of which included more sparkling gwater and seeing the baby. Lori had outrightly refused claiming that Emilia was napping and would get fussy if she was disturbed.
Elliot left the main house when he was tired. Lori stayed in the nursery with the door locked and her eyes outside the window. Waiting for the gates to open and for Cabriel to come home.
He didn’t.
She was finally forced to call him. He picked up the second time.
“Hello? Lori I’m sorry I’m not home yet.”
“Gabriel? What’s going on? Are you coming home today?”
She asked and he sighed.
“No. No I don’t think so. There’s been a situation.”
“What? What happened?“.
She asked and he sighed.
“Tony’s missing. I have my men out looking for him. We don’t know where he is and I think he can be in some kind of danger…
“Danger?! Oh my God!”
She didn’t notice it but it was kind of odd that she had not seen Tony for the whole day. He dropped in almost every day, even on the days he wasn’t working, always stopping by the kitchen to get his lunch and making jokes with Mr Gregory. From the little she knew, even though he didn’t work a lot He never look a day off.
“Is everything alright? I might be getting home sooner than later.
He said and Lori sighed.

“Tell her to go home please. I see her another time,

Lori answered.
“And Lori. Make sure you keep the security system on. Don’t let anyone else in.”
Gabriel warned. His voice was harsh and his tone was serious.

She ended the call and sighed, then she
back downstairs.
Kate was lounging on the sofa her legs on the ottoman and her hand on the remote lazily Tipping through the channels. She almost looked like belonged there.
There was a plate of hall eaten strawberries next to her. Sylvia must have served her something to eat.
She spotted Lori and smiled.
“Oh! Hi! You’re here. Do you have any idea when Gabriel would he back?”
She asked and Lori nodded.
“He’s caught up with something at the moment and he’ll most likely be working throughout the night. I think it’s best you leave.”
The woman paused, frowning a little but never once taking her eyes off the television

“He told me to tell you he’d see you another time.”
The woman chuckled.
“Oh but sweetheart look at the time. It’s too late for me to leave now. Are you really going to turn me out by this time

She looked at the time, it was just a few minutes past ten. It wasn’t that late. The woman could leave.
“I can call you an Uber if you want.”
She offered and Kate shook her head.
“No. No. That won’t do. I just sleepover. Just like old times.”
She answered with a smile and Lori firmly said no.
“I’m afraid I can’t let you do that.”

“Why?! It’s just one night…
“It’s not in my place to allow you. You’re a stranger, 1 can’t let you sleep over. At least not without Gabriel’s permission.”

She said and he nodded, for some reason his eyes looked dazed, Lori couldnt understand why.
The news must have come as a shock to him.

“Let me go get a shirt.”
As he stumbled back into the pool house and gently closed the door shut, Elliot was shaking slightly.

Gabriel crouched touched the blood on the floor. It was cold. He had been dead for at least a few hours. He was too late.
He sniffed the blood. Silver. There was silver in his bloodstream. No wonder. He looked at his placid wrists and saw blood and angry bruises. He must have struggled to get them off.
There was just one bullet, a clean straight shot to his chest, aiming right for the heart, the front of his shirt was covered in dark red blood. Tonys eyes remained opened and lifeless. Gabriel slowly reached out and closed them.
The other body, although he didn’t know the woman, he presumed she was his wife was in worse condition. Gabriel felt like she was shot first, the bullet to her head had blown her brains out. It looked horrible.
She had also turned up missing. Gabriel sighed, massaging his temple slowly.
When he found out that Tony was missing he never expected him to turn up dead, he still held out hope that it was nothing serious.
But this was no ordinary squabble. This was a threat. Against him.
