Chapter 48
He knew she
had
ear, it was like a scent in the
seen him. He could feel her eyes on him, like burning coal. He could feel her fear, it was
d of hiding. It
He knew what would happen when he turned. He knew the transformation would somehow expose what he truly was to Lon. But he was tired was who he was, he couldn’t hide anymore.
She would find out sooner or later and Gabriel rather preferred her finding out from him than anywhere else.
His yard was a bloodbath, full of bodies everywhere. His guards had survived, but three of them were seriously injured. He knew he should go with them an their alpha but he had to see Loel first, put her mind at ease and make sure she didn’t run out in fear.
Elliot had passed him a shirt and shorts after everything but he was still drenched in blood. He would need a bath to get it alhoff.
Halfway inside the house he ignored all the bows and praises from his staff as he rushed towards his room where Lori was.
He knocked on the door eagerly
It took a fall minute before Lori opened the door.
Standing in front of her drenched in the blood of his enemies. Yes, he knew it was a gory sight and he anticipated whatever reaction she would give him.
But she just stood there watching him, her eyes blank, her hair blanketing half her face like a curtain and baby Emilia in her arms with her head resting in
the crook of her neck.
“Can I come in
He asked gently. As gently as he could muster
She didn’t say a word. She just shifted out of the way:
Her eyes followed his every movement, stalking him like a camera as he made his way to the bathroom. He would try to clean off as much blood as he could.
In front of the mirror in the bathroom he found mit that he looked even worse than he had expected.
His hair was matted with blood and his entire face had blood on it. His hands were worse, covered with blood with dirt and flesh underneath his nails.
He cleaned up quickly. Only running his hand and face under the running water because he planned on taking a bath later on.
Lori sat at the edge of the bed quietly watching him. He tried to read her emotion, tried to smell the air but he couldn’t smell anything. But at least she was no longer afraid.
“You still have blood on you.”
He said as he came out of the bathroom cleaning his face and hands with a white rag that got bloodier with each swipe.
He nodded.
“I’ll take a shower. I just wanted to see you,”
“Why
asked.
He shrugged.
“I don’t know. With everything that happened I was worried about you… and the baby..”
Lori nodded as she gulped hard, patting the baby gently
“Did you… did you.”
He started and she nodded,
Chapter 48
“I saw enough.”
This was the hardest part. As far as Gabriel remembered he never had to reveal being a werewolf to a non supernatural. That was just how it had always been for him. H
He mostly surrounded himself with people of his kind, so he had never had to do this.
Where would he even explain?
How would he even start?
“L.. well, if you don’t know what you saw, I can explain to you.. what it is.”
He said and Lori sighed.
Gabriel waited with bated breath for her reply.
He called out and she stood up
“No”
She answered
“No!”
Gabriel repeated. Shock evident in his features.
Lori gently set the baby down on the bed. Then she tumed to Gabriel, pulling her hair out of her face.
“I’m leaving tomorrow. I will find an apartment.”
Gabriel felt like a knife had pierced his guts.
“Lori…”
She raised her hand cutting him off.
“If you can kindly change the terms of my contract. I’d stop being a live in nanny and just function as a regular nanny.”
She folded her arms. She wanted to leave. She had thought long and hard about leaving but she couldn’t bear the thought of leaving Emilia all alone by hersell
So no. Leaving was not an option.
“I was going to quit. But I really cannot imagine life without Emilia ”
“So stay Stay please! I’m not a monster Lori, you know I would never hurt you……
He pleaded and she nodded.
Was she sure? She wasn’t. He was a werewolf! A freaking werewolf!
How? How that came to exist she didn’t even understand, she wasn’t about to understand it and even while she was deeply curious about it she was also
deeply hurt,
“Gabriel. I told you things about me that I had never opened
pened up to anybody about. Not even a friend.”
“I have been honest with you about everything about me. And yet… you hid his gigantic secret from me.”
“Lori… I’m sorry. But you must understand.”
“Understand what?!”
“How can I ever trust you again?! Or look
k at you the sat
same way when you actually transform into a freaking wolf!!”
“Lovi please? Can prou, can you just let me explain everything to you!! Before you decide?”
He added and Lori pondered on his words. He was right. She did need an explanation and she was also really curious so she would listen.
Cleaning up dead wolf bodies. That was the job Elliot was given.
Dracni wai coming moer later with the clean up crew, but till then be and the staff were tasked with in
wat mency really, he had never seen such a bloody fight. Some of the guards had left, they were seriously injured and were taken away for medical attention. Elliot, the other able hodied guards and the staff were stuck with cleaning.
There was a total of eleven bodies. Nine in their wolf form and twin their human form. The two in their human form didn’t have pack tattoos, instead they had a wear on their left arm where pack tattoos were sometimes placed.
That windy meant one thing. Rogue wihet
add up. What business would they have with Gabriel?
Unless of course someone hired them, which was the logical answer but who?
Who would hire them?
His mind didted to his brother and he shuddered. He didn’t want to think that Lyle was stupid enough to do such a thing. Or consider the possibility of his Benther actually working with someone who could do that?
Sooner or later he would have in think about coming in to Gabriel, because from the looks of it the alpha would not spare him if he found out that he
“the must know alteady”
Mr Gregory said as he walked next to Elliot and pointed to the house.”
Ah yes
Lori. He could only imagine the thoughts running through her head and then Gabriel who would be trying to console her. With all that blood all over him.
He didn’t think it’ll
end well
“Do you think he’ll tell her?”
“Tell her what?”
y shrugged.
Elliot asked and Mi Gregory
“That they’re mates”
led and Elliot sighed.
He replied
No Gabriel wouldn’t tell her.
“I don’t think
what he thought.
Tharit be too much theck for one night.”
Vara had escaped. But it was fatal. She had made the stupid mistake of going up against an alpha, forgetting herself just how stupid that was
She laid in the back of the truck quietly bleeding out. She could feel the blood draining from her body. She wasn’t healing, at least not fast enough. She was
sing to suffer from severe blood loss and need a transfusion to get back on her feet.
She applied as much pressure as she could on the wound but her energy was slipping fast and she was already deathly pale..
The only other sum
who was driving and who had grabbed her
bed her just in time before she collapsed was driving like a maniac.
He might not be fast enough though, Gabriel lived in the outskirts of town, it would take at least ten in fifteen minutes to get to town.
Time like that, she wasn’t sure she had it.
The whole plan was a massacre
plete massacre..
she had left with twelve men. Armed with silver bullets and a plan. A clean job, go in go out and come out with Lori. Except for the stupid part of the plan where they didn’t expect to find guards.
Not just any guards. Highly skilled werewolves in Gabriel’s pack. The rope wolves that she had hired were relied on the silver bullets, but the first shot had given them away.
no match. Uncoordinated and slow, they heavily
It wasn’t long until Gabriel’s men picked them off one by one until there was nobody left and when Gabriel caught her and she had made the foolish error of seeming like she was acting for a challenge, he had gone for her throat, aiming for the kill
The absolute horror she felt while her life flashed before her eyes.
He could have killed her, but be left her alive, narrowly missing a major vein, but that didn’t stop her from almost bleeding out.
Thirteen of them had gone and only two was back. Only one of them had emerged totally unscathed and that was the person who was driving the truck.
A lucky man.
Vara thought.
Well Her alpha would be thoroughly dissatisfied with her and that she lost men, but at least she didn’t lose her life.
But she couldn’t help but wonder, in the grand scheme of things that Sabine cared about, did she truly matter?

It’s so funny how we say I’m waiting for the right time, actually there’s no right time for bad news or unsuspecting news. Elliott need to talk. Gabriel needs to come clean. Lori needs to realize that if he was going to hunt her he would have already done it
