Chapter 68
Elliot had made many mistakes in his lifetimes and the past few days there seemed to be no shortage of the wrongs he could do. He just kept making one horrible mistake after the other.
Turning Lori was a bad idea and he has realized it immediately after his fangs dug into her flesh.
She passed out immediately, her slow heart rate was the only indicator that she was alive. He tried to rouse her but she didn’t wake up.
And he had sat there in utter panic, so scared shitless that he couldn’t even turn anymore, the Super moon influence wore off so fast it was almost as if it was a regular night for him. Until he saw the most bizarre thing, right in front of his eyes the bite started healing.
The flesh melding itself and becoming smooth and good as new. The only indication that something happened was the blood that was left on her skin.
He tried to rouse her again and he had pulled away when a soft white glow covered her whole body. It was almost as if she was covered in light and Elliot cautiously took a step back.
And then he heard the voices, the werewolves were coming back to the cottage. They had not been out long. Either they didn’t go far or another set of werewolves was coming in to keep a close eye on them.
Out of panic, he attempted to lift Lori out of the sofa and found her body unbelievably hot to the touch. So hot that it seared his skin.
He bit his lips to stop himself from crying out loud and attracting unwanted attention.
It was of no use trying to lift her, besides, whatever was going on with her… he didn’t know. He only knew that he had caused it. He ran back to the basement to save himself. If they ever found out that he bit her, he couldn’t imagine what they would do to him.
Or what his brother would do to him if he found out.
Worse still, what Sabine would do to him. He ran back into the basement.
He was barely there for a few minutes when the screaming began.
Screaming, loud noises, harsh thuds, but they were not coming from Lori.
No, not her.
Many times, he was tempted to peep and find out what was happening but he decided against it until he heard the noises fade to the background.
Then he made a run for it.
Elliot ran so fast, faster than he had ever ran before, ignoring the heavy smell of blood that plagued the forest and the wolf bodies littered on the floor.
He didn’t stop running till he reached the highway and was a respectable distance from all the carnage.
That had happened barely two days ago and he still didn’t have a single explanation as to why all that happened. His brother was nowhere to be found, the apartment he was staying in was the first place Elliot had visited. He didn’t find Lyle, all he found was a note in the apartment saying he would be unreachable. Elliot could only imagine that his brother had gone into hiding.
It might have been Gabriel.
Maybe Gabriel’s pack had found them and killed all of those wolves.
Maybe Gabriel finally rescued Lori. The more he tried to think about everything the more confusing it got.
But he knew that he needed to do one thing. He had to make sure Lori was safe.
Whatever happened to her… that wasn’t the normal way to react to a bite. She was supposed to turn or die and what happened wasn’t even something he had heard of ever happening before.
Gabriel might have answers but Elliot knew there would be a grave punishment awaiting him.
He was a traitor. As far as anyone from his pack was concerned, he had committed treason. And the price for treason could also include death.

Chester &
Ellier was lost. Plunged into a world where he was in between two parks. No protection from either of them, no protection against other packs or
sugertanama
He couldn’t even be considered as an omega, a lone woll
He was worse
“Will semenne please explain what the fuck happened?
We had her! We had him in our pains so what the fuck happened?
Lyle exclaimed and Sabne rased her eyebrow at him.
With every moment they spent together Sabire found him more and more irritating
He was fuming. He had practically fled after Ware had given him the news. To think that he had thought they were so close to victory.
He was busy keeping tabs on Cannel… meanville his own brother was ruining his plan.
Everything had gone horribly wrong and he blamed himself for part of it but he also blamed Sabine.
He didn’t know what site was preoccupied with or why the strange nameless baby in the crib upstairs was suddenly so instrumental to their plan but she had mained the plan with personal plans of her own.
She got distracted. He could feel her shipping from him the very first time she saw Lori
They were close. Even though their doseness was because of a mutual enemy, they had still shared a bed together and they had their sweet moments.
“Don’t shout. You’ll wake the baby
She replied and Lyle groaned. Sabine was watching the security cameras dutifully. Waza was positioning their men around the property.
Gabriel had come to the cottage, shortly after she had left, narrowly missing fer and even Lori.
How did he find out?
That was the question in her mind.
After his call Sabine knew that it was stupid of her to stay in the city. Gabriel would find her and hunt her down.
Taking refuge in another city for the meantime would do her some good.
She would lie low for a while.
She had contemplated bringing Lyle. Or telling him that she was fleeing int he was too wolatile to leave on his own. She needed him beside him, so she would keep him on a night leash.
“We lost control of the situation. If you had been there.. perings your stupid brother wouldn’t have given Lori the bite.”
“And oh! If you had also actually been in your night senses… you stutid have never allowed your brother step foot in that cottage in the first place.”
“Leave my brother out of this! You have also been very distracted these past few days. We promised not to keep secrets from each other but you have so many now.”
He circled her as she focused on her computer momtar, barely finding despre the cise proximry or how angry Latle looked.
“Secrets? From you?”
She scoffed.
“I don’t remember making any promises to divulge all my secara. *
She retorted.

“Besides, whatever secrets you think I’m keeping from you has nothing to do with our business together.”
“So that’s how it’s going to be?!”
He asked.
Sabine pulled away from the computer, a hand on her forehead as she walked towards the open window.
*Lyle… we have more pressing problems than that and you know it.”
She turned to him, her expression hard and serious.
*Knowing Gabriel… and the wealth of resources he has, he’ll find us in a few days. We need to discuss our next line of action.”
Lyle paused. They had no way to stop him. Lori was their bargaining chip and they lost her.
Even worse… she was a werewolf now. Or whatever it was she was.
“We lay low for a while…”
Sabine chuckled as she folded her arms.
“Lay low for a while?!”
“That is your grand plan?!”
Lyle frowned deeply.
“It’s the best option for now. Your incompetent wolves managed to let one rookie newbie werewolf best them and now we’ll all suffer the consequences.”
The smirk fell of Sabine’s face. The pain of losing her pack members was still an ache in her heart. Losing so many… at once… it would take a while for the random pangs of pain to leave.
And Lyle… the disrespectful idiot actually believed that Lori took down thirty trained werewolves as a newly bitten werewolf?!
He was truly stupid.
How did she ever align herself with someone so stupid?!
She asked herself as she sighed.
“Leave me. You’re getting on my nerves.”
She dismissed him.
“Sabine…”
“I said leave.”
She repeated even more firmly as she turned her back to him.
Looking out the window, she saw Vara making yet another round across the perimeter.
Her trusty and loyal beta. The woman who would follow her into fire if it was required of her.
Vara was hurting too… yet she had put on a brave front. Those men she had trained with, grew with and fought with.
Now they were gone and Sabine fled. In a crucial moment where her pack needed her comfort the most she fled.
Exposing them to the wolves….
It won’t be long now before Gabriel started going after everyone and everything she loved.
She would do the same too… she already had the woman he loved right in the palm of her hands.

An hour later, Vara appeared in Sabine’s makeshift office to give a report.
She was wearing normal clothes… and it was slightly weird not to see her covered head to toe in black leather and dark eyeshadow. Now she looked laid back… even though the stress she was going thorough was all over her face.
“Anything else?”
Vara asked as she prepared to leave and Sabine nodded.
“We need to get rid of Lyle,”
Vara took a sharp intake of breath.
“Alpha!”
She blurted and Sabine sank into her seat.
“He’s dead weight. He’s dragging us down..”
“We might as well use him as bait for Gabriel Caine.”
