Chapter 73
“When will I see Emilia?!
Lori asked eagerly as she looked around. They were at the penthouse. Without Emilia the place looked cold, it looked like no one had lived in it for a while,
Lori and Gabriel had been talking for the last one hour. She had recounted everything that had happened to her and his anger had grown considerably with every word she said.
She told him everything, not leaving out any detail. If anybody could help her it was him, nobody else but him.
“Draco is bringing her to you…. Grace and Emilia were taken to a safe house in the mean time, to protect them…”
He said and Lori nodded.
“I understand.”
“Being without you… it felt like eternity..”
Gabriel said as he reached for her hands, he held them in his.
Lori smiled.
“I couldn’t feel you down the bond. I couldn’t even feel the bond. I was going crazy…”
Lori touched her neck, remembering how fast the scar had healed, almost like it was never there.
“Oh. I think that had to do with the bite… I couldn’t feel the bond either. It felt like there was nothing there..”
When she saw him she had felt the bond again. That mating poll, for the first time in a while but it felt weak… not as strong or as stable as that night when they had mated.
Something was different.
Even her powers. Although the bracelet had stopped the growing of her wings Lori felt strange… almost as if someone had put a damp blanket on her mind, It was a very disturbing feeling… she felt cut off and she couldn’t explain why.
She could take off the bracelet, but growing wings was another issue she wasn’t ready to deal with at the moment.
She was going to see Emilia soon, she couldn’t deal with that at the moment.
“Don’t worry. I’ll get it fixed somehow…”
“How?”
Lori asked and Gabriel shrugged.
“When Elliot gave you the bite, it opened you up to your hidden true self. Your true nephilim abilities have been hidden for so long… somehow, you reaching your full potential erased the bond… made you different..”
Ill have to mark you again… this time as a full nephilim.”
Lori nodded, her eyes going to the bracelet.
For that to work she might have to take off the bracelet.
“Then I might have to take off this bracelet…”
She murmured as she looked at it morbidly.
Gabriel nodded.

Chapter 73
He sand and Lori froze. She told him everything. Including the fact that Sabine had her son and was using him to blackmail her.
“We’ll find him. And we’ll get him back. I can promise you that.”
He assured and Lori nodded, but a small part of her was skeptical. It was normal for him to make promises and assure her that he would find her son. But would be really?
Sabine wasn’t equally as powerful as Gabriel… but she was very sly and she had managed to evade Gabriel for so long.
She had managed to even get to her. Clearly hiding herself from Gabriel wouldn’t be too hard of a task.
Running way wouldn’t be hand either.
Lori might never see her son again.
It was a horrible possibility, but it was one that nagged at the back of her mind day and night.
What if Jack was never meant to be bets?!
Fate surely had a cruel way of telling her she wasn’t meant to have him.
Gabriel could see that Lori was visibly worried about her son, he tried to reassure her.
“Lori. I promise you, we’ll find him!”
Gabriel reassured again.
Lori nodded.
Gabriel gently wiped the single tear that fell from her eye.
Lori suddenly remembered Elliot. Her eyes widened as she tapped Gabriel’s hand eagerly.
“Wait! You said you had Elliot, where is he?!”
She asked and Gabriel rolled his eyes.
“Locked up.”
“Why?!”
Lori exclaimed and Gabriel grunted as he stood up and walked away from the couch.
“He’s a traitor. You know that. He committed treason. Betrayed his pack.”
“Gabriel… you know Elliot isn’t like that! He would never do that…”
Gabriel shook his head adamantly. He had dreaded this conversation. This back and forth that would happen. Lori would want to set Elliot free and he just couldn’t do that. There were consequences for every action and Elliot had to pay for them just like any other wolf.
“You got kidnapped because of him! You don’t get to defend him!”
Gabriel snapped and Lori shook her head.
“I got kidnapped because I was stupid. I should have never have gone out without protection. Besides, Elliot didn’t send those texts.”
“But he knew that his brother was alive and he didn’t tell me.
He retorted.
Lori hesitated. Well, he was right on that one.
But still, this was Elliot they were talking about.

“He was scared! Besides… this is his brother we’re talking about…”
Gabriel shook his head, promptly cutting her off.
“No! No! You don’t get it Lori.”
“You don’t know what I did, or how many opposition I faced from my own family to get to where I am today!”
“Elliot knew what he was doing when he chose to hide that fact away from him.”
“He picked a side and it sure as hell wasn’t mine!”
Lori was quiet.
He was angry. That was understandable. His family had caused him pain, more than anyone should have…
Elliot made a huge mistake, but Lori didn’t believe that he should be condemned because of that.
Gabriel turned away, his glare focused on the open window. Lori went to him, wrapping her arms around his waist and seeping some of his familiar warmth.
She didn’t want Elliot to die. Without him, she would be dead. Or worse, he would be dead.
Elliot saved her.
“Elliot saved me.”

“He saved me. I think that alone shows that he has good intentions He
Lori said and after a long silence Gabriel sighed

“I can’t let him go… not now… I’d be seen as weak if I just let him come back to the pack without some form of punishment. He has to be punished
somehow..”
Lori sighed.
“Well… I’m sure you’d find an appropriate punishment. Something other than death. Or banishment.”
There was a knock on the door and Gabriel turned towards it. There was
smile
on his face.
“That should be Grace and Emilia.”
Lori squealed with excitement.
Finally! She thought.
Mrs Grace walked in with the baby stroller, she exclaimed when she saw Lori on the other side of the do
“Oh thank Goodness!”
She cried out in relief as she hugged Lori.
“Grace!!! Oh Grace!”
Lori hugged her back tightly, blinking back hard tears.
Grace broke away quickly to give Lori a chance to see the baby.
“Look!”
She said as she pointed to the stroller.
Emilia was sleeping.

Lori held back her tears as she crouched in front of the stroller.
“Awwn… I missed her so much.”
“She cried for hours… she wouldn’t take a bottle from anyone else for the first two days.”
Grace said and that broke Lori’s heart even more.
“My poor baby.”
Lori said as she stroked Emilia’s forehead lovingly.
“She slept on the way here… it was a long ride..”
Grace said and Lori nodded.
“I can imagine… I’m sorry you had to go through all the stress.”
Grace shrugged.
“Oh not at all! It wasn’t particularly stressful. I got to relax for a few days.”
“I’m so glad you’re back.”
Grace said as she patted Lori and Lori nodded.
Draco was standing at the door with a smile on his face.
“Welcome back Lori.”
He said and Lori nodded.
“Thank you Draco.”
Their relationship was cordial. No more than formal greetings… but his smile was warm enough and it told Lori enough. Like they would be more casual with one another. Friends maybe.
“Gabriel told me of all your efforts to find me… thank you so much!”
Draco nodded.
“You’re his mate. I would lay down my life to protect you if it comes to that.”
Draco assured and Lori laughed nervously.
“Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that…”
Gabriel was standing at the side and smiling.
“Aren’t they coming in? Didn’t you bring her stuff?!”
Lori asked as she noticed there was no luggage with either Draco or Grace.
“They’re not staying here. They’re going back to the safe house with you.”
Gabriel said and Lori raised her eyebrow.
“What? Why?”
Gabriel shrugged.
“For your protection.”
“And what about you?”

She asked and Gabriel shrugged again, he looked around.
“I’ll stay here. There’s much to do and Sabine and Lyle are still out in public. I have to find them.. clean up this mess.. work and all..”
“I’m not going there without you.”
Lori stated and Gabriel sighed.
“Lori please… you’ve been through enough already. In the safe house you’ll be safe… I’ll visit as often as I can but I’ll be more at ease when I know you’re safe.”
Lori looked at Grace and Draco who were looking at them awkwardly.
She smiled at the uneasily.
“We’ll be right back.”
She said as she grabbed Gabriel’s arm and dragged him to their room.
“You’re not locking me up in some safe house.”
Lori said as she locked the door behind them.
“Lori please. Don’t you want to be with Emilia? Or stay protected?”
Lori shook her head as she folded her arms.
“No! I want to help. I want to do something! I want to help out in a way!”
“I can’t just stay in a safe house and wait for you to come with news and do all the work while Sabine is out with my son doing god knows what!”
“Gabriel… let me stay here. With you. I’m tired of being so fucking helpless.”
Gabriel was skeptical.
He shook his head wearily.
“You were just kidnapped…”
Lori nodded.
“I know that. But that’s no reason for me to stay locked up…”
“You’re not being locked up! It’s just a safe house!”
“I don’t want to go!”
Lori snapped.
Gabriel finally relented.
He held her arms.
“Okay, Okay. If you don’t want to go, then I won’t force you.”
Lori nodded.
“I’m going to miss Emilia… but you have to understand… I need to find that bitch… no, we need to find that bitch…”
She warned and Gabriel smirked.
“This side of you… it’s new…”
Lori tilted her head, she was getting cocky.

“You like?”
She asked and Gabriel nodded.
“Very much.”
Lori grinned.
“Comes with the new powers.”
She said as she instinctively looked at her bracelet.
Gabriel looked at it too.
“Well… since you won’t be going to the safe house… I think now is a good time to take it off..”
Lori looked at it.
Taking it off would mean confronting her powers.
Who she was, facing the shift and learning how to unshift.
She didn’t have time for that.
Not yet.
“Not yet.”
She murmured.
