Chapter 75
Lori woke from a deep sleep to the sound of shuffling. That was strange, she thought as she slowly turned on her side and touched the other side of the bed.
It was empty. Gabriel wasn’t in bed. Half conscious, she wriggled her arm free from the sheets and slapped at the bed again, searching for Gabriel.
He wasn’t in bed and his sheets were cold.
Lori opened her eyes, rubbing at her sleep filled eyes as they slowly adjusted to the light.
She saw Gabriel in front of the closet dressing.
He was putting on a suit. He already wore his pants and he was buttoning up his white shirt.
It was a weekend. He didn’t have work did he?!
She thought as she stared at his back as he adjusted his shirt.
Sensing she was awake, he slowly turned and smiled at her. The rays of the sun illuminated his face, making him look slightly golden.
“You’re finally awake.”
He said with a grin on his face as he watched Lori stretch.
“First comfy bed in days. I couldn’t help it…
Gabriel nodded.
“I noticed.”
“Where are you going? You said we were staying in today.”
Gabriel shrugged.
“I unfortunately can’t. There’s this emergency elder meeting my grandfather has called and I want to see what the fuss is about…”
“And to be fair… I have been ignoring them altogether for a while.”
Lori nodded.
“Oh okay. That’s good.”
She said and Gabriel sighed.
“I know I promised to sleep in…”
He started and the sound of the doorbell interrupted them.
“Must be Draco,”
Gabriel said as he left the room.
Better put on some decent clothes, she thought as she swung her feet off the bed.
They had both gone to bed after a long night. Gabriel wouldn’t let her out of his sight even when he had work to do so they were practically attached at the hip as he did all his duties.
Lori was also a bit glum about Elliot leaving
Technically he was leaving to find his brother but Lori didn’t think there was any chance of him actually finding him.
She wished the could help but she didn’t know how. She also had no clue as to where he could be.
It seemed to her that Gabriel knew exactly what he was doing and was trying to get rid of Elliot.

Chapter 75
She picked out a robe after failing to find something suitable to wear. She briefly looked at her bracelet again. There was a nagging feeling at the back of her mind, one that was telling her to take it off and she pushed it aside quickly.
After wrapping the robe around her slender frame Lori walked out of the bedroom wondering why she wasn’t hearing Draco’s voice.
Kate?! She wondered as she saw the woman in front of the main door.
Oh Lori! You’re back! I’m so happy!
Kate squealed as she ran towards Lori and threw her hands over her. Lori squirmed under her touch, mildly irritated and still confused.
She gently pushed Kate away, smoothening the front of her robe and trying to arrange her bed nest of a hair into something more presentable as she saw Kate’s perfect low bun. Not a hair out of place,
“Kate. Hi.”
Lori answered as she turned to Gabriel who had a smile on his face,
Why was he smiling?! The woman was a vulture,
“Lori. Kate was very worried when you were gone. She tried to help out as much as she could…”

Lori said as she turned to Kate.
Kate laughed.
“Oh it was nothing! Gabriel and I go way back! Besides he didn’t even let me help. He refused my father’s aide.”
“I was able to come and stay by his side as much as I could though.”
Lori faked a smile.
“Thank you… I was gone for less than a week though..”
She muttered.
Gabriel noticed her demeanor and stepped in.
“Kate just came to see if you were fine. We were all worried.”
He stated and Lori nodded.
“I know. Thank you for your concern Kate.”
She said as she walked to the kitchen.
“I’m getting coffee. Do you want one?”
Gabriel shook his head.
“No I’m fine…
“Oh I’ll have some.”
Kate piped in and Lori bit back a reply.
*Black. One cube of vagat please.”
She added
“Out so early?!”

Chapter 75
Kate asked Gabriel who nodded. He was adjusting the cuff of his shirt. Kate moved in to help but he declined.
“Elder meeting”
He replied and Kate sighed as she stepped back.
“Oh I hate those. so boring… any reason why you’re going to one?”
She asked and Gabriel shrugged.
“No idea. You know how my grandfather can be…
Kate sighed.
“If you ask me… I think it’s about Lori.”
Lori’s eyes darted to the both of them. Even from the kitchen she was watching them closely while listening in their conversation.
Gabriel furrowed his eyebrow.
“It can’t be.”
He replied dismissively.
“Why would it be about Lori?”
He asked and Kate gave him a look
“Have you forgotten how you left the last meeting abruptly after declaring that you had a mate??!”
“How did you know that?!”
“Well my Dad and your granddad are close so yea.”
She answered.
Lori paused to watch them.
“What’s going on Gabriel?!”
She asked and Gabriel shrugged.
“Nothing. Dont worry about all that.”
“But it’s my business too now.”
The protested.
I don’t even know what it’s about Lori. But I’m sure it’s nothing so don’t worry about that.”
He reassured her again.
Even though he himself had doubts.
Gabriel looked at his watch. He was going to be late if he didn’t leave spent, but he didn’t want to leave Kate with Lovt.
He could see the tension coming from Lori, clearly she didn’t like her or want hers to be around Kate. He would ask her why later, in the meantime he had to find a way to get her out.
Luckily, the doorbell rang again and Gabriel suspected that this time it was Draco.
He rushed towards the door and sighed in relief as he saw Drace with some other men of his

They all whisper as the bow.
Gabriel ushered them in. He turned to Kate.
“Kate I have to leave now…. Lori needs to rest more so I suggest we all leave her alone to rest.”
He said and Kate nodded.
“Oh I understand! Silly me!”
She said as she picked up her purse.
“I guess I’ll be seeing you around Lori. We should have brunch soon.”
She said and Lori nodded.
“Sure.”
She gritted as she watched her leave.
What’s with that woman?
And why does she meddle so much?
She wondered as she rolled her eyes.
“Lori, are you okay?”
He asked as he walked over to her, a hand her shoulder. He rubbed them gently, Lori leaned into his touch.
Lori nodded.
“I’m fine. Just tired.”
She murmured as she rubbed at her eyelids.
Gabriel smiled.
“You should get some rest then. I’ll have the staff bring up breakfast for you.”
“I wish I could take you with me! I really really do… but I’m afraid it’ll complicate things..”
He pleaded and Lori nodded.
“Oh I understand Gabriel.”
She answered as she wrapped her hands around his neck.
She wished he wouldn’t leave. The mild panic that had set in when she woke up and wondered where he was, if he had left… they deserved more alone time together.
“I’m leaving you here with a few of my men… now I know I don’t have to tell you… but you shouldn’t leave… not till I get back.”
Lori nodded.
“Fine.”
Im serious Lori.”
“You don’t really think I’d get kidnapped a second time do you?”
She asked and he chuckled,
“You wouldn 1.

“There was a break in.”
Vare said as she brought over an iPad to show Sabine the camera footage.

She frowned.
“What’s heading for?!”
She asked and Vara shrugged.

“Money. He’s broke. He couldn’t find anything worthwhile here to steal… so now he’s stealing your fine china to sell…”
Sabine scoffed.
“He’s quite the fool. He should have left the city by now.”
Vara chuckled.
“With what?! He was a freeloader. He has no job, no connection or money, he’s desperate.”
“A desperate man is of no good use to us.”
Sabine said as she passed the iPad back to Vara.
Oh how she loathed the day when she met Lyle, the day when she let him into her bed and made him think he was equal to her.
Now, the thought of him repulsed her. Her own stupidity repulsed her. He had been the one to benefit from their agreement the most, while in return she had nothing to show from their partnership.
Nothing worthwhile, not even a win against Gabriel.
“One last mission before you leave.”
Vara straightened.
“What is it?!”
“Find him and kill him.”
Vara stilled.
Kill Lyle?
By herself?
It wasn’t impossible but she didn’t exactly want to do it herself. Most of her men had left, Sabine had warned all of them to lay low while she planned her escape out of the country, Vara had been happy she had at least decided to let them leave it all behind but now she had another mission for her?!
It was pathetic.
“But… alpha..”
“Vara! That man, that roguish bastard knows more about us, our pack, than he should. You understand he must not live to give the information he knows to other parties don’t you?!”
Vara sighed.
“I understand.”
Sabine nodded her head.
She threw her remaining clothes inside the suitcase without folding them.
Without the staff it had been exhausting packing on her own. The only staff she had kept was one other werewolf bodyguard and the nanny who was in care

“Call me when you’re done with the job.”
She added and Vara nodded again, her shoulders slumped in resignation.
Sabine ignored the faraway look in her beta’s eyes.
It was her duty to protect her and she knew that Vara would do that till the very end.
