Since I couldn’t reason with Mrs. Foster, I decided to talk to Lucas directly.
But he didn’t seem to understand the meaning of the word “divorce“.
“Will you still live at home after the divorce?” he asked.
“Of course not! After the divorce, we won’t have any relationship. I’ll leave here and start a new life. And you can find someone you like to take care of you.”
“Someone I like?” Lucas shook his head without hesitation. “There isn’t anyone.”
“What about Chloe? Aren’t you two close? She should be able to take good care of you.”
“No,” he said firmly. “Her hands are for painting. She can’t cook. You should do these things.”
Lucas said this with a serious face, but my heart felt like it had fallen into an ice cellar.
All these years, I had given everything without reservation.
I thought that even if he wasn’t grateful, he would at least understand my hard work.
But in reality, in his eyes, I was no different from the servants working in the house.
In fact, the servants had the right to choose whether to do something or not.
But I was like someone who had signed away my life.
“Lucas, I’m not discussing this with you. I’m informing you. Whether you agree or not, I’m definitely getting this divorce.”
“The Fosters have plenty of money. As soon as I leave, someone else will take my place. So you don’t need to worry about not having anyone to take care of you.”
“No!” he shouted, “I don’t want anyone else. I only want you!”
Lucas suddenly became agitated.
Although I guessed he was about to have an episode, I decided to continue.

“Why? You clearly dislike me so much. Why do you insist on keeping me by your side? This is torture for both of us. Why can’t we live more freely?”
“No divorce!” he yelled. “Just no divorce!”
Lucas started banging his head against the wall, his expression becoming somewhat twisted.
I sighed and stopped talking.
He thought I had given in and actually came over and tugged at my arm.
“Don’t be angry,” he said. “Tomorrow, I’ll take you to my secret base.”
