Approval flashed in Gabriel’s eyes. “You’re a good man, Jace. I have feeling I’m right to believe you’ll be good to her.”

Just then, through the window, we both heard that beautiful voice again. Gabriel smiled. “Speak of the devil.”
We left the pack house to find many pack members gathered near the pup center. As we approached, my heartbeat quickened at the
sight.
Aria sat in the center of the small plaza, surrounded by excited pups. She held my daughter Aurora in her lap, singing an ancient werewolf lullaby. Her voice was clear and warm, carrying soul–touching power.
Aurora was completely mesmerized, her small hands swaying with the rhythm, pure joy on her face. Other pups circled Aria, some singing along, others dancing simple steps.
Phantom paced restlessly inside me, desperate to approach her. Warmth spread through my chest–watching my daughter and true mate together so naturally felt like finding the final missing puzzle piece.
“That’s why we all love her so much,” Gabriel said quietly, fatherly pride on his face. “Though human, she has a stronger spirit than many wolves.”
When the song ended, the pups applauded enthusiastically, demanding more. Aria smiled and shook her head. “That’s all for today, little ones. We can continue tomorrow.”
Aurora slid from her lap but stumbled. Aria quickly steadied her. “Careful, princess.”
“Aria?” Aurora looked up at her, eyes shining.
“Yes, sweetie?”
“Will you sing at my birthday?” Aurora asked, expectation on her face.
Aria smiled, gently brushing a curl from Aurora’s forehead. “Your birthday’s coming up?“.
“Mhm, this many days.” Aurora held up ten fingers, expression serious.
“Oh, that’s soon,” Aria laughed softly. “Of course, sweetie, if your daddy agrees.”
Just then, Aurora spotted us, her eyes lighting up. “DADDY!” She ran toward me squealing.
I crouched down, opening my arms to catch my little girl, then lifted her up. Phantom rumbled contentedly inside me, sa seeing our youngest pack member safe and happy.
“Have you been good?” I asked softly, wiping a chocolate smudge from her cheek–Betty must’ve slipped her treats again.
“Yes, Daddy, you know what?” Aurora wiggled excitedly in my arms.
“What, princess?”
“Aria can sing… and Daddy, I asked if she’d sing at my birthday… she said yes. Daddy, can she? Please… Aurora’s eyes sparkled with

pleading. She knew I could hardly refuse her anything.
I looked at Aris, standing there with slight hesitation but warm eyes. Of course, princess, if Aria’s willing, that’s fine with me.”
I already said yes. I’d be happy to,” Aria smiled, walking closer. Our yes met briefly before she quickly looked away, a hint of pink coloring her cheeks.
Aurora cheered, reaching for Aria’s hand. “Awesome! You’ll live with us, right? Then you can sing to me every day!”
Aria’s eyes widened in surprise, uncertain how to respond to the sudden question.
I cleared my throat. “Aurora, Aria and her family have their own place.”
“But-
“However,” I interrupted, “you can invite Aria to visit sometimes. If she wants.” I glanced at Aría, hoping she understood the invitation wasn’t forced.
Her lips curved slightly. “I’d love to visit, Aurora. You can show me your toys and books.”
Aurora’s smile lit up the plaza. Even trying to maintain Alpha dignity, I couldn’t suppress the hope rising in my chest. Maybe fate would be kinder this time.
As Aria turned toward Gabriel, our eyes met. She didn’t look away, and I thought I saw recognition spark there before she smiled and nodded.
