Sophia didn’t even spare him a glance.
Alpha Francis held her close and glanced lazily in Lawrence’s direction. “Seriously? I’m standing right here, and you still can’t see me? Might want to get those eyes checked.”
His gaze drifted past Lawrence–landing squarely on Miranda.
Miranda, feeling his sharp eyes on her, instinctively tugged at her skirt and smoothed her hair.
Alpha Francis gave her a slow, mocking smile. “Wow, that’s one hell of an angel bitch -and yet somehow, you missed her too.”
Miranda’s face darkened. She pouted, feigning innocence. “Alpha Francis, I don’t understand. We’ve never had any issues. Why would you say something so mean to me?”
His smirk widened. “You? No issues with
you. Miranda? Don’t be so modest–you’ve

done me a huge favor.”

Miranda blinked, visibly confused and flattered. “I did? When?”
Alpha Francis gave a long–suffering sigh, as if marveling at her stupidity. “If you hadn’t lured that garbage Alpha Lawrence away, how else would I have had the chance to marry my Luna?”
Both Lawrence and Miranda stiffened, their expressions souring in unison.
Sophia tilted her head, looking up at Alpha Francis with a smirk. “With a mouth that vicious, I bet even kissing you would be fatal.”
He tightened his arm around her waist and leaned closer, voice low and rough. “Wanna find out?”
Her cheeks turned red, and she wisely shut her mouth.

Lawrence had finally had enough. He shoved Miranda aside and marched forward, glaring at Sophia.
“Sophia,” he said, voice intense, “you’re my Luna. How can you marry Alpha Francis?”
His eyes flicked briefly to Miranda.
“You’re upset about the marriage, aren’t you?” he asked, brows furrowing. “But I told you this thing with Miranda, it’s just for the pup. She’s pregnant, scared, and all alone. I was just helping her! You’re being so petty, so jealous–can’t you show a little compassion?”
Sophia had thought she was past caring about him. Truly.
But she’d forgotten–disgust was still an emotion.
She hadn’t realized until this moment just how pathetic Alpha Lawrence truly was-

twisted, blind to right and wrong.

Her body trembled with anger, and her voice turned cold as ice. “You’re right, Lawrence–l am petty and jealous. I can’t accept my mate running off to coddle another woman. That’s why I divorced you. We’re done. Who I marry now is none of your business. You’ve already got your precious fated mate. So what gives you the right to question me?”
Lawrence’s face turned red with urgency. “That’s not what we agreed on! We said I’d marry Miranda for one year–then I’d come back to you!”
Sophia let out a short, cold laugh. “Funny. I don’t remember agreeing to that.”
Lawrence suddenly realized–she hadn’t. Back then, she’d merely gone silent when he announced his plan. She’d never once promised to take him back.
She had never intended to reconcile.

Sophia looked up at Alpha Francis and gave his sleeve a gentle tug. “Let’s go.”
The two turned toward the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau.
Lawrence surged forward in panic, grabbing her arm. “Sophia! I know you’re only doing this to spite me. You don’t really want to marry him. Marriage isn’t a game–I’m giving you one last chance. Walk away right now, and I’ll let this go. But if you go through with this–if you marry Alpha Francis–then even if you come crawling back one day, begging me to take you back, I won’t forgive you!”
