Chapter 9
The plane took off and landed. When I walked out of the airport with my luggage, I felt as if I were in a dream.
At this moment, a strong and powerful arm grabbed my hand and took the luggage from
- me.
“Are you so lost in thought that you’re still thinking about Alpha Franklin?”
There was a faint hint of danger hidden on Alpha Roderick’s handsome face.
It was as if as soon as I said “yes“, he would take me away the next second, cut off all my chances of going back to Alpha Franklin, and keep me by his side.

I was a little surprised to see him like this, but I still shook my head.
“No. I’ve let go.”
His eyes narrowed. I held his gaze.
“I promised you I’d never go back to him, and I meant it.”
A slow smile broke across his face.
“You better keep your word, little wolf.”
He said it like a threat, but the way he tangled our fingers together and tugged me toward the exit felt more like a promise.
That’s when I noticed the motorcade.
Black Maybachs. Lined up. Trunks open, overflowing with roses and silver balloons

shaped like moons. One of them was suddenly floating away, and it said “MATE ME” on it.
“Roderick, what is all this?”
He turned, reached into his pocket, and-
He knelt. On one knee. In front of everyone.
“I know this might feel too fast,” he began, “but I’ve waited long enough.”
He pulled out two rings–too big, too shiny.
“I want to marry you. Right now. I want every wolf in every pack to know that you’re mine, and I am yours. Forever.”
“Although I know this proposal might be a bit too soon for you, I don’t want to wait any longer. I want to marry you now and never

miss you again!I love you, Sirena Miles. Will you marry me?”
Although marrying Alpha Roderick was something I had already decided on, seeing such a surprising scene, I still couldn’t help but be a little touched.
Over the years, I rejected my fate mate. While I was in love with someone else, Alpha Roderick had been persistently in love with
- me.
Just didn’t dare to let me know.
I quickly wiped away my tears, covering my face. Amid the cheers of countless people urging me to say yes, I stretched out my hand and nodded.
“Yes. Yes, I’ll marry you.”

His hand trembled as he slid the ring onto my finger. Slow, reverent, like he was afraid I’d vanish if he rushed it.
Before I could react, Alpha Roderick took my hand and led me to the car.
“Did you bring your ID?”
“What?”
“We’re going to the registry now. I already have the papers. My beta notarized them. No way you’re getting cold feet.”
“Wait–are you carrying marriage paperwork with you?”
“Always.”
Before I could argue, his beta tossed the suitcase in the trunk, slammed the door, and

floored the gas like a man who was being chased by rogues.
Everything after that happened in a blur. The registry office, the hushed whispers when they saw us walk in, the flash of the camera for our wedding photo.
“Smile, you two newlyweds!” the clerk chirped, and the camera clicked.
Boom. Done.
Two freshly minted marriage certificates- still warm from the printer, the ink smudging slightly under my thumb.
Roderick just stared at them, dumbfounded. Like he couldn’t believe it was real.
“We’re mated,” he whispered. Then, louder, “We’re mated. Finally.”

He crushed me into his chest, his scent spiking with me. His heartbeat was thudding so fast I could feel it through my spine.
I melted into him. For the first time in years, I felt….safe. Like I didn’t have to keep running or looking over my shoulder.
Alpha Franklin was the past.
Roderick was now.
However, what I didn’t know was that the video of Alpha Roderick spending a fortune at the airport to create a surprise and propose to me was widely spread on the Internet.
It even reached Claire’s eyes.
In the hotel, just as Alpha Franklin came

out of the shower, he saw Claire holding her phone and looking at him awkwardly, hesitating to speak.
