I erased every trace of myself.

The moment I buckled my seatbelt, I accepted my acceptance from MIT.
Back at the house Alpha Lucas and I were supposed to move into after the wedding- the house we had picked together, the one I’d foolishly imagined filling with laughter and love–I got to work.
I gathered everything.
Every photo of us displayed in the guest room. Every gift he ever gave me, no matter how small. I laid them all out.
And one by one, I destroyed them.
By the time I reached the last picture frame, my hands were shaking. My composure cracked like glass under pressure.
I collapsed to my knees, clutching the remnants, and sobbed until my throat was

I didn’t expect it to hurt this much.
It wasn’t the kind of pain you could scream out or punch away. It was slow, suffocating -like grief soaked in betrayal, thick in my chest, filling every breath with poison.
In the corner of my mind, my wolf stirred.
“Josephine, “my wolf Ivy choked with sobs “It’s okay. He’s not worth it. We’ll find someone who sees us–someone who never lets us go.”
Time slipped by in a blur.
At some point, my eyes fell on the wedding dress–the one I never even got to try on. Custom–made. Hand–stitched lace. Designed just for me.

Laid the dress on the floor with trembling hands.
And sliced it down the middle.
The sound of fabric tearing was louder than my heartbeat. I slashed through the bodice, straight through the heart. The same way he’d ripped through mine.
Each cut was a vow. A reminder.
Alpha Lucas shattered me. I wouldn’t give him the pieces.
I collected the scraps and stuffed them into a box, tucking them into the guest room closet. I knew he wouldn’t be back anytime
soon.
Then my phone buzzed.
Two MMS messages from an unknown.

I almost ignored them. I usually do.
But something made me tap.
The first message was a text, laced with
venom:
“Josephine, I’m back. Just wait–I’m going to take everything you have. Your Eclipse pack princess title, your wolf pack, even Lucas. I’ll make sure there’s nothing left of you.”
The second message was a photo.
Claire and Lucas–locked in a kiss on Crown Shadow Pack dock I recognized.
I didn’t respond.
Out of habit, I opened Facebook. His profile picture hadn’t changed. No new posts.
But something had changed.

His timeline–the already minimal posts- were now set to “visible for three days only”
His cover photo? A blurry shot of two figures walking side by side.
At first glance, it could almost pass for me and him.
Alpha Lucas, Claire’s back now.
And you’re so scared of upsetting her, you can’t even finish the performance properly, can you?
