Chapter 11
In recent days, I’ve often dreamed of Alpha Lucas and me. Dreams of our happy four years together, only to wake up and realize there will be no fifth year. Even in my sleep, there’s a lingering sense of exhaustion. I feel like it should end here.
In the middle of the night, feeling parched, I instinctively reached for the bedside table, but found nothing. Alpha Lucas used to keep a glass of water there to prevent me from getting thirsty during the night.
“You might fall if you get up to get water, and I’d hate to see you hurt.”
But now, there’s no one beside me. I got up and poured myself a glass of cold water, like the house, the bed, and myself–cold and

empty.
As I moved, I tripped over a chair and fell hard. Pain shot through my abdomen, and seeing the blood between my legs, panic set in.
“Lucas!” I called out telepathically,
desperation thick in my voice. “Lucas, come quickly!”
Telepathically was no response.
My vision blurred with tears as I fumbled for my phone. Trembling, I managed to dial his. number.
“Hello?”
“Alpha Lucas, the puppy… please, hurry…” My voice cracked.

But then, another voice answered–a soft, familiar one that sent a cold shiver down my spine.
“Lucas, come quickly,” Omega Camille said sweetly. “I cut my hand!”
The call ended abruptly.
My breaths came in short, panicked gasps. Pain tightened its grip on me as I tried to call him telepathically again. His response was immediate this time–a rejection

“What’s wrong, Emily?”

floor, speaking in a flat tone.
“Mara, my puppy… might be gone.”
She arrived in moments and rushed me to the hospital. But it was too late. The puppy- our child–was gone.
When I regained consciousness, their voices reached me before my eyes fully opened.
Mara was livid, her voice sharp and cutting. “How dare you show up here? It’s all your fault, you scum. How can you even face Emily after what you’ve done?”
Alpha Lucas didn’t defend himself. He stood there, silent, as Mara’s accusations struck him like blows.
“How can you come to see Emily after leaving her for that goddamn Omega

Camille?”
When Mara mentioned Omega Camille, Alpha Lucas finally spoke.
“I’m sorry. It’s my fault. But this has nothing to do with Camille.”
His words ignited a fire of anger.
I opened my eyes and met his gaze, my voice cold. “Alpha Lucas, get out.”
He had promised to be there when our puppy was born. But now, the puppy was gone, and with it, no reason for him to stay.
I recalled a line I read from a book:
“If you can forgive everything, then everything you’ve endured was deserved.”
