Chapter 6
“If you’re my mother, then why, all these years, did you let me suffer at the hands of bad people and never told me the truth? Why didn’t you try to bring me back?”
“Mom… no, Rida has been beating me every day since I was little. She treated me like a dog, didn’t let me wear clothes, made me eat leftovers, and in winter, she’d throw me
outside.”
“When I was a child, I always wondered why, even though we both had mothers, her way of treating her child was so different from yours. Do you know how many times I imagined you were my real mother?”

After speaking, Myles spat out blood and collapsed to the ground.
“Myles!” Cory rushed to his side, quickly administering first aid.
It turned out that his illness hadn’t really healed; he had been forcing himself to attend Cory’s announcement. After learning the truth,
the shock caused him to faint.
Upon hearing Myles‘ accusation, a trace of guilt flashed across my face, but I suppressed it.
I turned my gaze to Rida.
Seeing me look at her, Rida pretended to stay calm and spoke up.

“Why didn’t you say anything when you knew our children were swapped?”
“I raised the child for over twenty years, even sacrificing my youth for him.”
“And yet you took my son, preventing Cory and me from reuniting for over two decades! You’re
a sinner to both families!”
Even after Myles had just accused her of abuse, Rida continued to act like the victim,
even though she had personally swapped the children.
I stared at her expressionlessly.
“Stop pretending. Isn’t this exactly what your
wanted?”

Rida’s face shifted, a look of panic appearing.
“What do you mean?”
“Don’t slander me. No matter how much you try to deny it, you are the one who caused your own son to vomit blood and faint right here!”
Rida’s words were met with unanimous
agreement from the crowd. Everyone began to point fingers at me.
They questioned why I had stood by and allowed my son to suffer for all these years.
Some said they had already called an ambulance and the police.

I smiled, relieved that I wouldn’t be the one going to the police station.
The police soon arrived at the scene, questioned the surrounding crowd, and were about to take us to the station.
I wasn’t worried at all. I addressed the officers respectfully:
“Officers, what they’re saying is all false. I’m ready to confess everything right here.”
As the officers took notes, they asked me:
“You say you knew your son was swapped? Where and when did this happen? Is there anyone who can testify?”

I confessed to the police:
“When my child was just a month old, I heard my friend Rida confess in my house that she swapped our children.”
“Unfortunately, no one else can testify for me.”
After I spoke, Cory immediately glared at Rida.
The crowd erupted in chaos.
“So Rida planned everything!”
“No wonder Myles accused Rida of abusing him all these years. She must have known he wasn’t
her son from the start!”
“But it’s been so long, and no one can testify
