Chapter 42 Celeste: He’s My Husband
Rain started to fall in a steady drizzle from the sky. Celeste hadn’t expected it to rain. Wasn’t today supposed to be overcast The weather forecast couldn’t have been mune wrong!
She glanced into her rearview mirror, where Mason was still relentlesdy chasing her. No matter how the maneuvered, she couldn’t shake him off. Celeste increased her speed, taking another route, but Mason managed to keep up
She finally verred onto a small road, not realizing until too late that she had driven out of the racetrack.
The rain intensified, soaking Celeste’s clothes.
At that moment, she noticed something was off with her motor bike. The engine sputtered, and she was forced to pull over.
She tried restarting it, but it wouldn’t turn over.
Mason, right behind her, stopped his motor bike as well
Celeste took off her helmet, letting the ram drenchilier fice.
“Mason, can you just stay away from me? Every time we meet, nothing good ever happens.”
“I just wanted to talk to you. Why did you run? Mason’s clothes were just as soaked, his wet hair plastered to his forehead as rain dripped down his
“I don’t listen to nonsense, Celeste mapped.
She looked around, realizing they were completely lost. The rain kept pouring, and her phone had no signal. She’d somehow driven deep into the
mountains.
Perfect, she thought bitterly,
“Give me your keys,” Celeste demanded, holding out her hand.
Her plan was simple–take Mason’s motor bike, leave him stranded, and make her own way back.
“Your motor bike broke down?” Mason asked.
“Why do you ask so many questions?”
Mason must have guessed her intentions. Without a word, he tossed the keys into the dense forest below.
The area was overgrown with thick waist–high grass, making it impossible to retrieve them.
This might be his only chance to talk to Celeste alone. If she went back now, he wouldn’t get another opportunity.
“Mason, are you insane? Look around There’s no one here! How are we supposed to get back now?”
Mason shrugged. “It’s too late. We’re both stuck here.”
Celeste
The rain was coming down harder, and Celeste wasn’t about to stand out in it any longer. She needed to find shelter, maybe a hotel, and wait out the storm before calling Jessica to pick her up.
Mason followed her, staying close as they walked
There seemed to be a nearly resort, but since it was the weekend and the rain had been pouring down, Celeste found that the first two hotels she checked were fully booked.
Finally, Celeste found one with a vacancy. “We have one room left, a king–size bed,” the clerk informed her
Celeste was soaked to the bone, and the last thing she wanted was to run around searching for another place.
“Ill take it” she said without hesitation.
“Are you two together! The clerk glanced at Mason, her eyes lighting up at the sight of him
“I don’t know him. I’m alone,” Celeste replied cuntly.
The clerk seemed even more excited at the idea of Mason being available.
“Alright then please provide your ID. The room will be fifty dollars.”
Celeste reached for her ID, only to realize she hadn’t brought she had changed into her racing suit earlier and left all her belongings behind.
On top of that, her phone was waterlogged and had shut off, making it impossible to pay.
“Can’t I check in without ID Celeue abed.
“Sorry, we require ID. But if you can pay upfront, you can provide the ID later, the clerk said.
Celeste tried tuming her phone on, but it remained responsive.
Celeste
Great. Just
her luck.
Au that moment. Mason wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her close. He handed the clerk his ID and fifty dollars. “We’ll take the room.”

“Waitaren’t you two not together?” The clerk was confused.
Mason smiled. “She’s my wife. We just had a little argument.”
“Is that true!” The clerk looked at Celeste, concemed she might be in trouble.
Mason added, “You can go find another place to stay if you want, but without ID or money, you won’t get far, even if there are vacancies.”
Celeste gritted her teeth.
This man was threatening her.
Outside, the rain had turned into a downpour. Celeste was dying for a hot shower, and she figured she could tolerate sharing the room with Mason–after all, it wasn’t the first time they’d been alone together. She could handle it.
“He’s my husband.” Celeste finally admitted.
Mason’s brow lifted slightly in surprise. It had been a long time since he’d heard her refer to him as her husband.
“Great! I’ll get everything set up for you.”
The clerk quickly processed their check–in. Celeste reached for the key, but Mason was quicker, snatching it first.
“I booked the room and paid for it. Holding onto the key seems fair, don’t you think?”
Mason didn’t trust her not to lock him out the moment they got inside. He had a strong feeling she was planning exactly that.
Celeste had, in fact, been thinking about doing just that–locking Mason out as soon as she got in
With has cash and cards, he could easily book another room, but she didn’t get the chance to act on her plan.
Mason’s preemptive move frustrated her, but there was little she could do
The room was a simple one, with just a large bed and no sofa or extra chairs.
“You should shower first,” Mason said, eyeing her soaked clothing. He didn’t want her catching a cold.
Celeste was hesitant, worried that if she undressed. Mason might try something. He had done it before.
But her clothes were sticking uncomfortably to her skin, and she felt gross. The tight, wet fabric made it hard to move.
“Fine, but don’t get any ideas. Keep your eyes to yourself, or I’ll make sure you regret it,” she warned, holding up two fingers in a mock gesture of gouging his eyes out.
Mason chuckled softly. He hadn’t realized how endearing Celeste could be.
“Don’t worry. I’m not interested.”
“You better not be,”
Though Celeste knew better than to trust Mason’s words, they weren’t convincing in the least.
He claimed he wasn’t interested, yet they had been intimate more than once. Despite his supposed lack of feelings, he couldn’t resist her when it came to the bedroom.
Celeste locked the bathroom door behind her, and soon the sound of water echoed through the room.
The walls weren’t soundproof, and Mason could hear every drop of water falling
His mind wandered, imagining Celeste standing under the shower, her bare skin glowing under the warm spray, her body flushed pink from the heat.
