Chapter 43 Get Lost, Stop Acting Like a Creep!
There was someone outside that made Celeste uneasy, so she showered quickly.
After finishing, she realized she had no clothes to change into only two towels in the room.
There was no way she could stay locked in the bathroom, so she reluctantly wrapped herself in a towel and stepped out
In the room, Mason had already stripped off his suit and shirt, revealing his well–balt upper body.
His physique was flawless, and every time Celeste saw it, she couldn’t help but feel her pulse quicken, Now, here he was, standing half–naked in front
ofher
You, you why aren’t you wearing clothes”
She exclaimed, her cheeks turning red. It was undear if it was from the hot shower or from the sight in front of her.
“My clothes are wet. It’s uncomfortable to wear them,” Mason said casually.
He stood there confidently, showing off his body, In this area, he knew he had never lost.
There are towels in the bathroom! Stop walking around half–naked in front of me. You’re an eyesore Celeste turned her gaze away, a looking directly at him
Mason glanced down at himself. “Are you sure it’s an eyesore and not that you’re afraid you can’t control yourself?”
“Me, not able to control myself? What a joke!”
Mason stared at her, clearly amused. Her flushed face said otherwise.
The more flustered Celeste became, the closer Mason stepped toward her. “Then why can’t you look at mir, hmm!”
Has voice was deep, smooth, and laced with a playful tone that sent shivers down her spine.
“What’s there to look at? There are plenty of guys with better bodies than yours
“Really? So, you’ve seen
en a lot of men’s bodies?”
“Of course!”
Mason leaned in closer. “But have any of them made you feel as
“Comfortable as I do?”
He whispered the last three words in her ear, his breath warm against her skin
Celeste’s face burned even hotter. “Get lost! Stop acting like a creep!”
avoiding
She glared at him, but in her current state–wrapped in nothing but a towel, her face flushed–she had no real intimidation. If anything, it only made her more tempting to tease
Her face was stunning, especially when she was angry.
And knowing she had nothing on beneath the towel, it was hard for Mason not to imagine more.
“What’s going on with you and that guy?” Mason asked, his voice suddenly serious and tinged with jealousy.
Was Celeste this flustered becise another man had seen her like this
Especially the way Anthony looked at her made him disgusting.
Celeste instantly understood Mason was referring to Anthony. She and Anthony were just friends, nothing like what Mason was implying.
She didn’t see why Mason was so i
so concerned, but since he was, she decided to annoy him even more.
“Well, at least we didn’t end up with a baby,” she said sarcastically
Mason stiffened.
He and Annie weren’t what Celeste thought. Annie’s baby wasn’t his. True, the situation was complicated–if Annie didn’t come to him, she shouldn’t luve gotten pregnant after being insulted by a group of men.
After that incident, Annie became increasingly sensitive. She was terrified of other men, but whenever she saw Mason, it was as if she found a glimmer of hope.
That’s why he had been so protective of her.
“I’m going to shower.” Mason said, feeling the tension ring between them. If they kept talking, it would only lead to a fight.
He retreated to the bathroom to cool off, hoping they could talk more calmly later.
When Mason came out, Celeste had already dried her hair and wrapped herself in the covers. She was trying to call outside using the hotel phone, but the line was down.
The rain outside was relentless, and her phone was still dead. Everything that could go wrong had gone wrong. She regretted running off on the motorcycle in the first place.
Mason, now wearing only a loosely tied towel around his wain, couldn’t help but think back to their previous encounters.

He knew Celeste wouldn’t risk grabbing his towel again after what had happened in Summerville,
“The bed is mine, Celeste said setting some ground rules. You can stay wherever you want, but don’t talk to me. I’m not interested. Let’s just pretend we’re strangen sharing a room.
Mason pared at her intensely. “Towe you an apology for the sination with Annie. I’m sorry.”
“Spare me. I don’t need your apology. And who exactly are you apologizing on behalf of?”
“Im apologizing to you, not for her.” Mason explained. “I jumped to conclusions and blamed you without getting the footage. The slaps! She ha herself. You had nothing to do with it”
Celeste was taken aback. She hadn’t expected Mason to actually use his brain and check the footage.
I checked the security
“Whatever. I don’t care anymore.” Celeste replied, her tone dismissive. She had no interest in rehashing the past. In her eyes, Mason would always
side with Annie when she cried.
Besides, Celestes life was fine now. She didn’t need his approval or explanations. If Annie crossed her, she’d deal with it in her own way.
“Celeste.” Mason’s voice deepened as he hesitated before asking, “What about those men who cornered you in the parking lot! How do you know them!”
Was he talking about Tom!
Celeste had no intention of letting Mason in on her business. “I don’t know them. Maybe they mistook me for someone else.”
Mason clearly remembered Tom calling out her name, but Celeste denied knowing him.
What was she hiding
Mason wanted to press further but sensed she wouldn’t give him any more answers. Asking again might make her more defensive, so he decided to investigate on his own. He’d find out who Tom was and get the truth one way or another.
Mason had more to say, but Celeste had already turned away, making it clear she wasn’t interested in continuing the conversation.
Without any dry clothes, Celeste had no choice but to wash and hang her wet ones to dry. She tried using the blow dryer to speed things up, but it wasn’t very effective.
Seeing her struggle, Mason took the blow dryer from her hands. “Let me dos”
“I don’t need your help”
“You’ve done enough for me over the years. Now, it’s my tum
Celeste shot him a suspicious look. Since when did Mason want to help!
But the awkward part was, she had been blow–drying her underwear, and she wasn’t about to let him help with that.
They ended up wrestling for the blow dryer, neither one willing to let go. In the struggle, it slipped from their hands and fell to the floor with a loud
Mason picked it up and tried to plug it back in, but nothing happened.
“I think it’s broken,” Mason said innocently.
Celeste closed her eyes and took a deep breath, trying to stay calm. Today lud been one disaster after another, and she didn’t need this added
Inntration
Two seconds later, she opened her eyes, and calm was out the window
“Mason Carter, I swear I’m going to kill you!”
