Chapter 47 How Could It Be Him?
“Fine, I’ve unblocked your number.”
Celeste said as she removed Mason’s number from her blacklist.
Only then did Mason seem satisfied. He turned back to the call. “Dad, I gave you money not too long ago. I can’t help you this time.”
Mason‘ tone was so affectionate. She never referred to him so warmly–Thomas didn’t deserve it.
Thomas, on the other end, noticed faint sounds in the background. He wasn’t sure if it was Celeste’s voice or perhaps Mason with another woman. After all, Celeste had mentioned their plans to divorce, which was likely why Mason wasn’t as eager to hand over the money.
Celeste!
Once again, Thomas blamed Celeste. He tried to say something, but Mason said, “I’m busy. I’ll hang up.”
Desperate, he tried to call Celeste, expecting her to convince Mason.
When Celeste saw her father’s name on the caller ID, she didn’t hesitate. She ended the call without a second thought.
“I’ve unblocked you and turned down Thomas’s request for money.”
Mason asked. “Last time, those twenty million–did you cover it for him?”
He had been puzzled when John told him that the money was transferred from the Williams family’s account. Now, it was clear Celeste had taken
care of it.
“No,” Celeste denied. “I’m leaving.”
Mason watched as Celeste walked away, her steps firm and confident.
More than ever, he felt like he didn’t know her anymore. How many more secrets was she hiding?
The moment Celeste listed her property for sale, inquiries poured in. But with the asking price set at a full ten million and no room for negotiation, many potential buyers backed out.
Surprisingly, the next day, Celeste received a call from the real estate agency. They informed her that someone was interested in the property at Dolphin Bay, offering her full price. They requested she come in to sign the contract.
With time available that afternoon, Celeste headed over to finalize the deal.
Meanwhile, in the office of the property management, Shawn was sitting with his arm around a woman. She clung to him, cooing, “Honey, you’re so sweet to me, buying me a house here.”
She punctuated her statement with a loud kiss on his cheek. “I love you so much!”
But Shawn’s expression was far from pleased. He had just spent ten million dollars to shut her up,
If his father found out, he would probably break his legs.
Thomas had been unusually busy with company matters recently, leaving Shawn to deal with this mess on his own.
The woman had refused to terminate the pregnancy and even threatened to raise the child alone, planning to return in a few years to claim more from him.
“Once you get the house, you’ll get rid of the baby,” Shawn said coldly, showing no remorse for his own child.
“Of course, honey,” the woman replied quickly, sensing his growing impatience.
At that moment, the realtor knocked on the door and entered. “Mr. Williams, thank you for waiting. The property owner is here.”
As the door opened, Shawn turned, and his face froze.
“Celeste? How could it be you!”
The Dolphin Bay property had been a prime location, sold out even during construction years ago. Shawn had worked hard to find a second–hand unit that hadn’t been lived in. When the realtor mentioned the house was unoccupied, he decided to buy it immediately.
But now, Celeste stood before him. He must have been mistaken.
“Are you the realtor?” Shawn asked, unable to process what was happening. He couldn’t imagine Celeste as the property owner.
The last he had heard, Celeste and Mason were divorcing, and with no financial support from the Carter family, she must’ve been working a regular job as real estate.
Celeste walked in confidently as the agent introduced her. “This is our client, the property owner. If everything looks good, we can proceed with signing the contract.”
Celeste wasn’t particularly concerned. She just wanted to sell the property, and it didn’t matter who the buyer was.
But Shawn’s face turned dark. Celeste owned the property?
That must mean Mason had bought it for her. Of course, the Carters had money to burn.

Without hesitation, Celeste signed her name. When it was Shawn’s turn to sign, he hesitated.
“Well, are you signing or not?” Celeste asked, clearly not willing to waste her time.
However, while Thomas was out there begging for money, Shawn was spending lavishly–a whole ten million, no less.
“I think we should renegotiate the price,” Shawn finally said, hoping to drive it down. He figured he might get the property for one to two hundred thousand–or even for free.
Celeste smirked. “Perfect, I was just thinking the same. The price is so low. Now fifteen million. How’s that?”
“You…” Shawn had hoped to avoid spending anything, and here she was raising the price.
“Celeste, we’re family. Why not transfer the property to me?”
“Ha.” Celeste laughed coldly. “You’ve got some nerve, trying to scam me out of my property to cover your mess. You sure weren’t thinking of family when you were out having your fun.”
“Watch your mouth, Celeste!”
“I say what I like. Take it or leave it. If you’re not signing, I’m leaving.”
Shawn’s companion tugged at his arm. “Honey, I really want this place.”
Celeste’s grin widened. “Shawn, I don’t recall you being married. Is this the illustrious Miss White? Isn’t she your fiancée?”
“Celeste!” Shawn yelled, his face turning red with anger.
“I’m not deaf, I heard you the first time.”
Finally, Shawn stood up. “I’m not buying this place!”
Celeste gestured toward the door. “Fine, leave. But if you come back, the price will change.”
Fuming, Shawn stormed out with the woman in tow. Celeste, however, remained relaxed, sipping tea as she waited. Not long after, Shawn returned, his expression sullen.
“Fine. Ten million. I’ll sign.”
“Hold on,” Celeste replied coolly. “That was the old price. It’s now fifteen million, and I’m not lowering it by a cent.”
“Are you out of your mind?!” Shawn growled.
“Don’t buy it? Then leave. The next time, it’ll be twenty million next time.”
“You…” Shawn’s rage was palpable.
But he had no choice. The woman beside him insisted on this specific property, and with his engagement to Miss White looming, he had to deal with this situation quietly.
