I whirled around to see Caleb Chase standing at the Reed family’s doorstep, impeccably dressed in a suit.
He smiled at me and said, “Didn’t you say we were getting married? I’m all ready.”
Xavier, who had always complained that I didn’t spend enough money on him and accused me of being stingy, instinctively assumed Caleb’s expensive outfit was fake when he saw it.
“Aria, is this the male model you found? To save face, you even went as far as buying fake designer clothes. I guess that suits a money–grubbing woman like you!”
Felix was even more sarcastic: “Besides his decent looks, what else does he have? I bet that face has been kissed by countless older women.”
“Haha, only Aria would be desperate enough to marry such a dirty man who sells his body for money”
“Well, what can she do? No one wants her. She’s too proud to beg us, but she’s in a hurry to grab the family fortune. Of course, she had to find some random man to throw herself at!”
As they spoke more and more crudely, Caleb’s eyes grew cold.
Lily smiled sweetly at Caleb.
“Sir, you don’t know, but my sister has kept many men. She’s probably dated at least eight or ten guys like you. She doesn’t really care about
you.”
“If you marry her now, you’ll both be kicked out of the Reed family before long.”
“If it’s money you want, I can give you some. I just hope you’ll find a proper job and not marry my sister. Don’t ruin your life.”
She took a card from Zachary’s pocket and shyly ran over to hand it to Caleb.
“Take it quickly. My sister is spoiled and treats you terribly. I apologize on her behalf. This is a small token from me. Take it, and let’s forget about this marriage
“If you’ve already… I suggest you get checked at a hospital. Who knows what diseases my sister might have given you…”
Her expression was meaningful, looking like she was torn between caring for her sister and exposing my sordid private life to save an
innocent man.
Caleb examined the card in his hand, his gaze towards me changing.
My heart sank. I had anticipated Lily would try to ruin things for me, but I never expected her to stoop so low.

It seemed this man couldn’t be kept either.
I took half a step back, intending to leave, but Caleb pulled me into his arms.
He held my waist with one hand while playing with the bank card in the other, sneering lightly: “I thought you had some real power, daring to bully your sister like that? This pittance of money, Miss Reed, you dare to embarrass yourself with this?”
He casually tossed the card, which hit Lily’s face, leaving a bloody scratch.
“This money doesn’t even compare to my company’s monthly profits!”
Zachary clenched his fists and charged forward, only to be kicked away.
He scrambled up, shielding Lily behind him, his eyes red with anger: “You’re just a male model, what company do you have? Such arrogance!”
I looked at Caleb in shock, asking, “Your company?”
My secretary finally caught her breath and ran to my side, handing me a thick stack of documents.
“Miss Reed, there’s been a misunderstanding! Mr. Chase isn’t a model, it’s all a mistake!”
“Mr. Chase is the young master of the Chase Group. He heard you were taking over Reed Enterprises and came specifically to discuss cooperation. Who knew that…”
My heart skipped a beat.
The Chase family – the one my father had repeatedly sought cooperation with but was politely refused.
I never expected Caleb would now initiate cooperation because of me.
Her voice was just loud enough for everyone present to hear.
“Since Miss Reed’s marriage fell through, to expedite the cooperation, I had no choice but to step in personally and marry you.”
Caleb declared his love for me, completely ignoring the shocked expressions of the four people beside us.
