Laughing loudly, I continued walking, my steps long and determined.

Fury of the Forgotten
27
POY Savannah Bowen
I stared at Mihaela, captivated by her beauty and friendliness.
Her eyes were almond–shaped and Asian, set in a face with delicate but distinctly striking features. A heart–shaped mouth, a round, upturned nose, and a slender jawline. Her dark hair fell smoothly and brilliantly over the medium–brown skin of her shoulders, and she moved with a natural elegance as she circulated the room, serving the cupcakes to the students.
She was tall and slender, with long arms and legs.
and a thin torso.
Unlike Alexandra, who exuded strength, Mihaela was delicate.
The pups were around ten to twelve years old and were getting ready to head into the forest for a fun picnic. Alexandra was leaning against the wall beside me, arms crossed, her eyes fixed on her beloved.
“She’s beautiful,” I whispered, moving closer to her and giving her a light nudge on the shoulder.
She smiled and gave me a look before turning back to Mihaela
“I know,” she agreed, sighing dreamily. “And it’s not just her beauty. Mihaela is… good, pure, and generous. She loves being with these pups, teaching them. welcoming new groups, and watching the old ones take important steps toward their future.” She pointed with her chin towards the beta. “She’s always willing to help others, sees goodness in everyone, and is driven by forgiveness. No matter what someone has done, she’s always ready to forgive. Quite different from me.” She laughed. ‘I’m extremely vengeful.”
Alexandra spoke of Mihaela with so much love, affection, and devotion. For a moment, I felt jealous of what they had because it was what I longed for, what I dreamed of for myself.
I wanted someone to love me, to look at me and speak about me the way Alexandra did with Mihaela. Their love was beautiful.
I exhaled a shaky breath.
“I think that’s how things work, how they flow so well. Different from each other, but they complete one another.”
“Hey…” She tapped my shoulder. “Why do you look so sad?”
I smiled, trying to break the mood, but I felt my smile didn’t reach my eyes.
“Once, I even dreamed of having that, you know?” I sighed a bitter laugh. “I mean, I thought I’d have that with Hunter, that he was the perfect mate for me.”
Alexandra looked at me sympathetically.
“But br
wasn’t,” she stated.
“No, he wasn’t,” I agreed. “Neither him nor anyone else. I’ll never experience love like that.”
For a few seconds, neither of us said a word. Alexandra stared at me in silence, brows furrowed and lips tight.
“I’m sorry, Sava,” she whispered, surprising me by saying my nickname. “I wish things were different for you.”
If only I were accepted into the pack, I could live beside my sister, And right now, that would be enough for me.
Mihaela approached us, smiling all giddy as she looked at Alexandra.
Thanks for the cupcakes, I’m sure they’ll love them. They’re already super happy and even more excited for the picnic,” she said gratefully.
shrugged
“It’s nothing: I can make them again. Cooking’s not a
a problens for me, an
nar, and I really enjoy pleasing the pup.”
Getting bored, though, that was a problem. II 1 had to, I’d cook for them every single day with the greatest pleasure.
From the corner of my eye, I noticed someone entering the room. I smelled her before I even turned to check. She reeked of dirty bitch.
“This is the first time since this school was founded that Marilyn is here. Mihaela commented,
I kept my eyes fixed on her, ignoring the damn she–woll Alexandra looked at me before turning to her girlfriend.
“Oh, I know exactly why she’s here,” she said, pointing with her chin. “She’s dying of jealousy of Savannah, so now she’ll be chasing her like a dog after a
bone.“
I rolled my eyes
wants Fentit so much, she can have him all to herself,” I hissed.
“If she wa
Mihaela laughed.
“How lovely, your love is just like that of the wolves, mated,” she teased.
She should know the truth; I highly doubted that Alexandra kept anything from the fenule. I doubted even more that Fennir would stop her from telling her beloved anything. They were like a team.
“Exactly like in romance novels,” I mocked.
They both burst into laughter, and I joined them, relaxed for the first time since I’d arrived at the school. I had been tense, worried the pups wouldn’t like my cupcakes
Some parents were wandering around the room, helping the pups with their picnic preparations, along with the wolves providing security. In the back of my mind, I knew this was only necessary because of Hunter’s pursuit of me.
Marilyn approached, stopping next to us. Alexandra and Mihaela ignored her, as did L..
“Today’s going to be a very special day,” she said, smiling openly
Alexandra raised an eyebrow
“Is it? And may I know why?”
Her eyes gleamed.
“Nothing much, just have a feeling it’ll be a special day.”
“Yuck“” one pup exclaimed and started spitting.
Mihaela quickly ran over to the boy, touching his shoulder, trying to understand what was going on. Then another pup did the same, having a coughing fit.
“What’s going on the teacher asked, panicking
The students started making gagging noises, as if they y were feeling sick.
“The cupcake tastes awful,” one of them revealed, throwing the cake away.
My heart raced, and I wavered as I looked at all of them, seeing that all of them, without exception, agreed with their classmate.
“It’s not possible…” I whispered, mentally replaying every step of the cupcake preparation
I had done everything right, just like my mother taught me. At home, I made the recipe regularly. I had memorized every step of it.
One female quickly snatched the cupcake from her son’s hand and brought it to her lips, biting off a piece. She chewed once before spitting it out into her hand and giving me a murderous look.
“You batch, it’s not enough that we have to endure your presence, now you want to poison our pups, fooling them?”
W what?” I sta
stammered, eyes brimming with
“This tastes like
like pure salt,” another mother said, making a face at me,
I looked at Mihaela, who was studying me with furrowed brows, then at Alexandra. I was panicking. This wasn’t how I imagined things would go. I had followed the recipe, step by step. I cooked with so much love and care.
“I… I don’t know what happened,” I confessed, in a whisper. “I did everything right.”
A cupcake hit the wall beside me. I looked at the mothers, stunned. Then another flew in my direction, hitting just below. Another, and were all being thrown at me. Some hit my face.
1 stretched my arms out, trying to p
protect myself.
Enough! Stop it!” Mihaela yelled.
But they didn’t listen, continuing to throw cupcakes at me.
“Fenrir will destroy you all when he finds out,” Alexandra threatened, growling, with no patience left.
One mother
laughed.
“He’s too busy spending time at his mistress’s house to be around his own mated companion, you really think we believe he cares?”
I swallowed hard, feeling weak.
“This mutt will never be our queen, she’ll never be anything more than a plaything for our alpha, another mother declared.
“Disgusting bitch, we don’t want you h
here!” another yelled.
then more,
Alexandra clenched my arm and pulled me out of the room, guiding me away from them and the pups. They kept shouting insults and telling me to leave, full of harshness and contempt.
The omega p
pressed me against a wall and inspected me, trying to find any injuries.
“I’m so sorry, I’m really sorry,” I sobbed, in shock. “I swear I don’t know what happened.”
Her eyes gleamed, filled with rage. I shrank back, expecting her to act like the others, but she turned her head, directing her anger at someone else, not me.
“I know exactly what happened,” she spat. “Andrei tasted the batter and praised it, there’s no way it could have gone so wrong.”
“Many things can happen in a small lapse of time… purred Marilyn, approaching us, wrapping a lock of hair around her index finger.
*What are you talking about?” Alexandra asked.
Marilyn shrugged.
“Like, for example, a jar of salt accidentally fell into the batter.”
Alexandra turned to face her, ready for a confrontation…
Mihaela appeared at that moment and grabbed her, pushing her away from Marilyn.
