On the day of my discharge, Gideon didn’t come, but surprisingly, Nora did.
“Vera, I’m here to pick you up.” Nora wore a fake look of concern. I instinctively wanted to refuse, but I couldn’t resist and got into the car with
her.
As the car drove away from the hospital, the scenery outside the window became increasingly unfamiliar. I sat up, alert.
“Stop the car! Where are we going?” Nora didn’t answer. The next second, a towel was suddenly pressed against my nose and mouth. I passed
out in an instant.
When I woke up, I found my hands and feet tightly bound with rope. I was taken to an abandoned building. I confronted the arrogantly smirking Nora in front of me. “Are you insane! Let me go!” “Yes, I am insane.”
Nora’s sweet and proud smile turned cold, her gaze was laced with poison: “Vera, why is it that even now, Gideon can’t forget about you? “And what about me? I’ve been by his side for five years, and he won’t even touch me!”
Nora’s grim face showed a strange smile. She actually ordered people to tie her up too. Gasoline’s pungent liquid was poured all over the surrounding ground. I finally understood what she was planning. I looked at Nora in disbelief, seeing the madness in her eyes.
“Gideon will be here soon, once again, who do you think he’ll save?”
“Nora! Are you out of your mind!” The moment the flames rose, terrifying memories surged like a tide. Nora’s face overlapped with my
sister’s.
Five years ago, my sister was trapped by a burning beam in the fire scene. She pushed me away, telling me to escape and get help.
When I stumbled out, I witnessed her fall from the high building. Landing just half a step in front of me… The splattering blood stained my
whole face.
My sister, who loved beauty so much, was burned unrecognizable, How painful it must have been for her to choose to end her life with a jump.
Later, everyone said it was my cowardice that killed her. “Why wasn’t it you who died!”
“This is your debt! You’ll never repay it!” But they don’t know, even I hate myself.
Gideon rushed into the fire scene urgently, but was blocked by the raging fire. His mouth opened and closed, but I only heard Nora’s scream. Flames climbed up Nora’s skirt, and she finally showed true fear: “Gideon, save me!”
I stared blankly at Nora’s face, so similar to my sister’s, full of pain. This time, I don’t want to run.

A burning beam above shook. As it fell from above, I threw myself at Nora without hesitation. Nora’s eyes widened.
As she felt the rope on her wrist loosen, she turned and left without hesitation.
Leaving me trapped in the blazing fire. As the fire swallowed me, I saw Gideon’s eyes wide with rage. I smiled at him. Gideon, this time I’m
repaying it with my life.
