Chapter 28 The Same Old Act
She picked up her knife and sliced a small piece of steak, then put it in her mouth.
Mmm–still the same taste.
Windy, in a good mood, started digging in, not caring one bit about appearances.
Because she really was starving.
She could easily eat three servings of this steak.
“You’re Windy?”
A voice dripping with disdain suddenly interrupted her.
Windy looked up and saw three people walking toward her.
Yvonne and Anna.
These two were Elsa’s close friends.
What a coincidence.
Funny enough, Windy also had a grudge against Anna.
Windy raised an eyebrow and said calmly, “Can I help you?”
Seeing Windy’s cold, indifferent attitude, Yvonne grew even angrier.
No wonder Elsa didn’t dare say anything at home. Who knew how badly she was bullied?

“Wow, just look at you – some bumpkin from the countryside. Stuffing your face like you’ve never seen steak before. It’s disgusting. You, get up!”
The restaurant manager hurried over with a smile. “Coming.”
Yvonne arrogantly tilted her chin up and began pointing at the manager.
“You people are unbelievable. Is this the kind of place where anyone can just walk in? We’re a high–end establishment. We don’t need some filthy country rat dragging our standards down. She doesn’t belong here.”
Her sharp gaze landed on Windy.
“Oh, that’s right. Weren’t you the one digging through trash, sleeping under bridges, cuddling with rats? Someone like you – dirty and disgusting – how dare you even show your face in here? Get out before you taint the place.”
Some diners turned to look at Windy, their eyes full of disdain. Some frowned in disgust.
The manager looked troubled. Their restaurant had always welcomed all paying customers. They had never kicked anyone out before.
“Ms. Yvonne, this customer is already dining. She hasn’t done anything wrong. Maybe we could just-
Windy was dressed neatly in brand–name clothes and carried herself with elegance. What bumpkin? Even if she had come from the countryside, she had every right to eat steak.
The manager grumbled inside but didn’t dare speak out loud.
“She’s poor! If she doesn’t pay after eating, are you going to cover it?” Yvonne snapped, folding her arms.
Well… customers usually pay after their meal. Caught between the two sides, the manager tried to ease the tension.
‘Perfect. She’s almost done anyway. Kick her out!” Yvonne raised her voice even louder.

She had already been annoyed that Windy had taken her favorite seat. Now, knowing Windy was the infamous adopted daughter, she hated her even more.
Yvonne pressed on. “From now on, none of the Lynn family’s businesses are allowed to let her in. Memorize her face. If I ever catch her in any of our stores again, you’re all fired!”
“Ms. Yvonne…” The manager was at a loss.
One was the boss’s daughter, the other was a customer, and a crowd was already starting to notice.
He was just an employee. How was he supposed to decide?
“What, it’s my store and I can’t make the rules?” Yvonne sneered at him.
The manager immediately shut up, though his heart burned with anger.
–
The restaurant was filling up. Yvonne shouting like this and trying to kick someone out even if she had a point, it looked terrible.
Windy sipped her drink slowly, waiting for Yvonne’s machine–gun rant to finally run out of steam before speaking coldly.
“Heh. What a joke.”
That proud, mocking laugh sent Yvonne into a rage.
“You… what are you laughing at?” Yvonne snapped.
I’m laughing at you. You should get yourself checked into a mental hospital.”
Yvonne was about to explode when-
Elsa stepped forward at just the right moment, her voice soft and trembling, laced with a hint of urgency and nervousness.
“Windy, don’t be mad. Yvonne didn’t mean it. She just speaks too bluntly, and she’s in a bad mood today. She was just worried that since you just came from the countryside, you might not be used to eating steak. Please don’t be upset, okay?”
That delicate, pitiful act instantly made Yvonne and Anna even angrier.
Using Elsa’s things, living in Elsa’s room and she still dares act arrogant?
Anna moved to shield Elsa behind her.
Anyone watching would think Windy was a bully, cornering three helpless girls.
Every time in the past when she clashed with Elsa-
Elsa’s friends would always rush in front of her, defending her like she was some innocent little flower.
Elsa only needed to stand there looking pure, kind, obedient, and sweet.
All the rich boys infatuated with her, no matter how badly hurt, would fight to clear a path for her.
Elsa’s little “friends group would transform into righteous warriors, defending her name.
And now, the same scene was playing out again.
“Someone like you, coming from a place like that, dares to sit here and eat steak? Don’t you have any shame? Wearing some cheap knockoff and pretending you’re some rich young lady?”
