Not long after, thanks to Rena’s connections, Grant got promoted to top reporter status. He even published a whole article about me and Rena, tampering with the comments to stir things up. The piece went viral.
“Shocking! Rena Hart’s boyfriend caught cheating!”
The story had all the juicy details, down to where I supposedly cheated. No pictures, though. Every comment was a jab at me. Had to be fake
accounts stirring the pot.
“How could he do that? Our little princess Rena deserves better.”
“He cheated and still won’t leave her alone. Disgusting.” “Hope this Tyler guy gets the hint and steps aside.”
When my assistant handed me a copy of the article, I just chuckled.
“What should we do, Mr. Marsh?”
“Look into this Grant Keller’s story, verify his claims, and find out where he’s sourcing these fake accounts. And, see how he landed this new
title. Then send it all out publicly.”
“Will do, Mr. Marsh,”
Within three hours, the tables had turned. It turns out Grant wasn’t just a third wheel; he’d climbed up by stepping on others, even using dirty tricks to get a talented reporter kicked out so he could slide into the role.
Then his whole Twitter feed blew up.
“How can you be so shameless, snatching someone’s girlfriend and bragging about it?” “Is this what journalism has come to? Disgraceful.” “I’m that reporter he threw under the bus. He stole my files and pinned it on me, gave them to a rival station, then cozied up to our boss…”
“Oh, looks like the Hart family’s ‘princess‘ got played, too.”
