Chapter 4
As I fell into the abyss, I heard him whisper in my ear, “Diana.”
When I opened my eyes, the morning light flooded in.
After a night of torment, I forced myself to sit up, only to find Alpha Lawrence already dressed.
“Last night…” Before I could speak, Alpha Lawrence cut me off.
“Someone drugged me at the party, that’s why I came to find you. Consider it a favor; if you want anything, just tell Andrew, and he’ll get it for you.”
“I didn’t… I’m not here for something

from you…” I hastily explained, afraid he’d misunderstand.
“Oh?”
He looked at me with keen interest, then slowly leaned in. As his face came closer, memories of last night’s wild passion flashed in my mind, and I couldn’t help but close my eyes.
Then his voice came, laced with disdain: “You were as stiff as a dead fish last night, how boring.”
“If it weren’t for the aphrodisiac being so strong, I was afraid of hurting Diana. Do you think I would sleep with you, a worthless?”
“And by the way, I never even looked at you properly yesterday. I was afraid it’d make me sick.”

His words sliced through my heart like a knife, leaving deep, bleeding wounds.
What I had once thought was love turned out to be nothing more than the delirious release of his frustrations, and all my suffering was simply the price I had to pay for marrying him.
“Andrew will bring the medicine,” Alpha Lawrence continued coldly. “You should know that even if a lowly wolfless carries an Alpha’s puppy, the puppy will still be worthless. I won’t allow any stains on the family name.”
As the door slammed shut, that suffocating, damp feeling washed over me again. I buried myself under the covers, tears welling up in my eyes.

Soon,Beta Andrew arrived with the medicinal brew, I refused to open the door, so he left it outside.
Once he was gone, I opened the door, took the medicine, and drank it all in one go. Alpha Lawrence was right. If the puppy would only endure the same pain I did, it would be better if they were never born.
Dragging my exhausted body into the bathroom, the mist couldn’t conceal the ugly marks on my skin.
The redness and swelling on the inside of my thighs made cleaning myself an agonizing task.
A wave of nausea hit me, and I rushed to the toilet to vomit.
Once my stomach was emptied, I felt a little

better. After showering, I asked Beta Andrew for some ointment.
He told me I didn’t need to attend to Alpha Lawrence for the next couple of days; he was busy hunting down a traitor within the pack, and I should not disturb him.
Even if Beta Andrew hadn’t said it, I wouldn’t have gone near him again.
What happened last night was enough to make it painfully clear that our marriage meant nothing.
No matter what I did, I could never truly be his mate–his heart would always belong to Diana. Why should I keep fighting for something so futile?
Two days later, Alpha Lawrence found the one who had drugged him at the party.

On the day of the trial, everyone gathered, and I was expected to stay by Alpha
Lawrence’s side, while Diana, his lover, stood on the other side.
To my surprise, the traitor turned out to be an insignificant wolfless, looking no older than a teenager. An Alpha could have easily picked him up and thrown him to the ground.
He was brought before Alpha Lawrence, still defiant, refusing to bow his head.
“The aphrodisiac is a banned substance in the pack. Who did you trade with?”
This was a matter of the pack’s safety, and Alpha Lawrence had to get to the bottom of it.

locked on the Omega with unrelenting intensity.
With Alpha Lawrence’s silent signal, Beta Andrew shifted into his wolf form and lunged at the Omega, tearing into his body with savage force.
“I’ll tell you! I’ll tell you! It’s Diana who made me do it!”
