Chapter 6
The basement was a bleak, windowless place, surrounded by cold, damp stone walls -only the worst criminals were sent here.
The space was small, with nothing but a hard wooden bed and a thin blanket that did nothing to ward off the biting cold.
The guards locked the door behind me, ignoring my desperate pleas.
I curled up on the hard bed, spending day after day in the cold, dim darkness.
The endless darkness was broken only by the squeaking of rats. I couldn’t even close my eyes when I slept, terrified that the rodents would climb onto the bed or into my clothes.

The food was little more than watery soup, sometimes spoiled, and I was forced to eat it or go hungry.
Even the water was kept in a bucket in the corner of the room, only replaced once a week. Within a few days, illness and pain began to take hold of me.
I still remember the first time I met Alpha Lawrence.
I was an intern nurse at the Pack hospital, working the night shift.
That night, Alpha Lawrence was rushed into the emergency room after a rogue attack.
He had lost a dangerous amount of blood, and the blood bank’s supply of Rh–negative blood was insufficient.

As fate would have it, my blood type matched his. Without hesitation, I donated my blood to save him.
When he regained consciousness, he looked at me with an intensity I couldn’t quite understand.
“You’re my savior,” he said softly, his voice tinged with awe. “And my destined mate.”
At first, I wanted nothing to do with an Alpha. I had no desire to be swept into the world of power struggles and dominance.
But his relentless devotion wore down my defenses.
He stood by me, unwavering, even as his parents vehemently opposed our relationship.

For five years, we loved each other fiercely.
And then Diana came into the picture.
Everything changed.
Suddenly, I was no longer his mate but a fraud accused of stealing the identity of his true savior.
I became the target of their anger, subjected to their cruel retribution.
I don’t know how much time passed before the door to the basement creaked open, the sound waking me from a restless sleep.
Before I could see who had entered, a sharp voice pierced my ears.
“Ugh, how can you stand being in this filthy,

stinking hole for a month?”
It was Diana, holding her nose in disgust as she looked down at me.
“What do you want?” I forced myself into a sitting position, my voice hoarse.
“Of course, I came to see how miserable you are,” she sneered, walking up to me. She stood over me, lowering her voice to a mocking whisper. “How does it feel to be wrongfully accused, my dear Luna?”
“You’re bitch. You’re the one behind all this.” I
retorted.
“someone like you, willing to risk the lives of your own packmates for personal gain, using forbidden substances in secret–your fate won’t be any better than mine.”

Slap! Diana struck my face with a sharp blow.
“Shut up, you slut.”
“Do you really think anyone would buy your lies?” she sneered. “Let me tell you the truth -Alpha Lawrence had already knew that it was me who put the aphrodisiac under your bed, and he still locked you up. Don’t fool yourself. He won’t be coming to see you.”
Although I’d already suspected it all along, but when the truth finally came to light, it still felt like a knife twisting in my chest.
“Oh, and by the way, Diana continued with a smirk, “Alpha Lawrence promised me that after you’re gone, we’ll have a wedding. He’ll make me his Luan. You should wish us well.” With that, she laughed and walked out.

As the iron door slammed shut behind her, I couldn’t hold back any longer. My sobs racked my body, as if I was trying to cry out all the frustration, resentment, and pain at
once.
Suddenly, a sharp, metallic taste filled my mouth. I looked down and spat a mouthful of blood onto the floor, the world spinning around me. My vision blurred, and I felt myself drifting away.
Am I going to die?
