Chapter 8
At my words, Alpha Lawrence’s grip loosened.
He understood the consequences–killing me now would be too risky. If it came to light that I had been pregnant, it could jeopardize his Alpha position.
“Let’s wait and see” Alpha Lawrence’s cold words echoed as he left the room.
I trembled, my hand instinctively resting on my.belly.
Alpha Lawrence’s words replayed in my mind. I had definitely swallowed the medicine, so why was I still pregnant?
Could it be because…

The bathroom! I had been so focused on vomiting, I hadn’t realized I had thrown up the medicine I just ingested.
I knew that puppy bom to wolfless had no inheritance rights.
But when I discovered I was carrying a little life inside me, all I wanted was for him to come into this world and experience everything–so I could give him all the love I
had.
I’m an orphan. It was for this puppy that I found the strength to keep going.
The following days passed in an unusual calm. Meals were brought to me three times a day by someone.
Even though Alpha Lawrence despised me,

he wouldn’t dare harm my puppy.
Every time Beta Andrew visited, he brought me supplements and shared news from the Shadow Pack.
But he never mentioned Alpha Lawrence Diana, and frankly, I didn’t want to know.
The weather began to warm up.
As I gazed out the window at the sunshine, I realized how long it had been since I had left the room.
I quickly changed into some clothes and made my way downstairs.
My belly had begun to show, slightly rounded. Though walking was a bit more difficult, I didn’t mind. I already loved this puppy so much.

The hospital was quiet, likely because it was a private facility for the Alpha family, and there weren’t many patients around.
After walking around and breathing in the fresh air, I felt my mood lighten.
Worried that I might be missing when the nurse came for rounds, I was about to head back to my room when a small hand tugged at my sleeve.
A little boy, his face streaked with tears, cried
out,
“Please, save my mom.”
I froze for a moment, then immediately asked, “Where’s your mom? What happened to her?”

“Mom… blood… so much blood,” the boy choked out, his words barely clear.
Before I could process what he meant, he grabbed my hand and started running ahead, pulling me along with him.
We didn’t stop until we reached a barren patch of land. Looking back, all I could see was the exterior wall of the hospital.
We hadn’t yet left the hospital grounds; it seemed to be an undeveloped area.
Panting for breath, the little boy kept shouting, “Mommy, Mommy,” as he pointed at the desolate land ahead.
I pulled him aside gently. “Stay here and don’t move. I’ll go inside to find your mom.”
After ensuring the boy was safe, I ventured

alone into the barren land.
The deeper I walked, the more uneasy I felt. Everything around me was eerily silent.
The only sound was the “creak” of my footsteps, and there was no one else to be
seen.
As the sky darkened, the path ahead grew harder to discern.
Then, from somewhere nearby, a howl pierced the silence, sending a chill down my spine. Could there be Rogues here?

Just as I was about to turn back, my foot suddenly slipped, and I felt weightless before plummeting straight down into a hole…
