I had never heard such shameless, bizarre words, especially coming from a student I had so carefully taught.
It felt like biting into an apple only to find half of it infested with worms–disgusting beyond words.
I couldn’t control myself anymore, my fury threatening to consume me entirely. I slapped Chloe across the face.
“Do you even realize you’re the other woman? Is this how your family raised you?”
Liam shoved Chloe behind him, then kicked me in the stomach. I was sent flying, crashing into the door of the ward with a loud bang.

“Eunice, can you stop being so vicious? Now you’re hitting people? You used my parents to threaten me, and after everything I did to make you pregnant, you still have the audacity to blame me? Don’t you know I’m a staunch ‘DINK“?”
“Do you even deserve to be a teacher? You have the audacity to talk about family? Do you even know the situation of your own student’s family? How much longer are you going to make a scene?”
“I’ve given you chances, haven’t I? You can’t have kids of your own, and now you’re using your position as a teacher to insult your student?”

Hearing the commotion, doctors and nurses came out of the ward, frowning at the situation. They didn’t even bother with reprimands, rushing to stop Liam from continuing his shouting and hitting.
“Let’s talk this through calmly. This is a hospital! Not a place for violence!”
A nurse screamed, “Mr. Jones! Someone’s bleeding heavily!”

The lead reporter gave a polite smile, but his words were laced with venom:
“Mrs. Miller, we’re from a live broadcast interview. We received a report from a fan saying you caused a scene at the hospital and assaulted a pregnant woman. Is this true?”
The nurse nearby quickly chimed in:
“She was the one who started it! Our outpatient department colleagues even took pictures. This woman went straight up and slapped a pregnant wife!”

“Could you tell us what happened in detail yesterday?”
The nurses glanced around, emboldened by their masks.
“We’re from the inpatient department, so we didn’t witness it firsthand. But the outpatient department reviewed the surveillance footage. This woman slapped the pregnant wife as soon as she left the clinic.
“Yeah, her husband was right there. How could he let his pregnant wife be hit? Of course, he had to defend her. Now the baby’s gone, and they ended up here.”

Another nurse overheard the disclosure of patient privacy and quickly jabbed the speaker in the ribs to remind her, then hurried her away. “Sorry, we have to look after other patients. That’s all we know.”
The reporters, still following, hurried a few steps to catch up. Although they were disappointed by the nurses‘ reluctance, they didn’t forget about me. They surrounded me like a pack of wolves, firing questions one after another.

I cleared my throat and whispered, “May I ask who reported this? I think there’s been some misunderstanding between us.”
Liam strode in with purpose, his voice cutting through the tension:
