Chapter 8
Amelia set down her wine glass and marched over to me, her voice sharp with
accusation “Seraphina, today is Milo’s
wedding, filled with guests who are either affluent or influential. How did someone like you manage to slip in here?”
Maxwell shadowed her with a scowl, barking, “Exactly! You’re not wanted. Leave!”
Facing their anger, I replied calmly, “I entered with an official invitation.”
The two exchanged a skeptical glance, doubt flickering in their eyes.
Just then, Milo approached, his tailored suit immaculate, but his expression marred by disdain. “Seraphina, have you lost your

mind? This wedding is crucial to me. I personally verified each invitation, and you weren’t on the list! How dare you pretend you came with an invitation? Have you no shame?”
Amelia scoffed, sarcasm dripping from her words. “Hearing her talk, anyone would think you actually invited her! Some people have the nerve to lie so openly.”
Maxwell looked me up and down, repulsed. “She’s probably here to grab a meal, judging by how she looks. Seems like she hasn’t eaten anything other than plain rice in ages.”
Undeterred by their taunts, I calmly retrieved an invitation card from my bag and held it up. “I’m here as a relative of the bride.”
Milo’s expression turned dark instantly. Snatching the card from my hand, he

examined it closely.
When he saw the name on it-
Charlotte’s personal invitation–his disbelief was palpable.
“Impossible!”
Amelia, sensing something awry, leaned in. “What’s wrong, son? Is the invitation real? Did she forge it?”
Milo’s voice trembled as he shook his head. “It’s real.”
A murmur spread through the crowd. Milo turned back to me, his voice insistent and doubtful. “Tell me–how did you get this invitation?”
Maxwell, trying to make sense of it, spoke

quietly, “Milo, remember, Seraphina did raise you. Maybe Charlotte sent her the invitation out of respect?”
But Milo immediately dismissed the thought. “Not possible! Charlotte left all the invitations to me. She made just one special invitation, saying it was for the most important person in her life.”
As those words hung in the air, Amelia and Maxwell’s expressions faltered.
Even the nearby wedding guests started whispering among themselves.
“I heard Charlotte is an orphan. She doesn’t have family at the wedding.”
“Then how did Seraphina get that invitation?”
“Wasn’t that special invitation meant for

Charlotte’s most important person? Could it actually be Seraphina?”
“This wedding just took an intriguing turn.”
All eyes focused on me, filled with curiosity and speculation. The online livestream chat buzzed with questions, demanding answers.
Maxwell, frowning deeply, voiced what everyone was thinking, “Seraphina, what’s your connection to Charlotte? Why did she give you the only special invitation?”
The air thickened with anticipation as everyone awaited my answer.
But before I could respond, Amelia burst out, her voice shrill with accusation, “I’ve got it figured out she stole it! That invitation has to be stolen!”
