Chapter Eleven: Aurielle DuVall
And what a man. Dressed in a black turtle neck and grey pressed pants, he looked like he was on his way to buy an estate. He lifted one eyebrow, golden eyes flickering at me with the same recognition I’d noticed last night.
“Aurielle, right?” His deep, rich tone made my name sound even better.
“Yes, sir.”
“No need for formalities. Call me Cassiel,” I noticed the amount of eyes on us. From people waiting to be seen by the council.
“Of course. Um, I’m here with my mother–in–law.” I scanned around for Meriam, who was talking to someone at the front desk
“What do
you
need from the council?” he was still holding me by the arms. His grip was firm and warm
“I came…” Well, this is embarrassing. He just met me the day before. I coughed to clear my throat. “I came for a divorce and
summons form.”
I thought about it on the way here. Just in case Matthias is difficult, which I doubt. He’d be happy to divorce me. But just in case, I
can file for a summons. Which is another hassle, but I need to be prepared.
Something flickered through Cassiel’s eyes, and he immediately stepped back.
“Find a place to sit, I’ll be back with those forms. There’s a line, but I’m a council member, so it shouldn’t take time.” Then he was gone. Marching off with all the power and energy of a man who could command fate in his way.
Meriam returned, and I pointed to the only free seats left.
“Alpha Cassiel is back from his trip. I’m surprised he came right back to work,” she said. I doubt she knows he offered to get me those forms. Which, now that I think about it…. Why did he do that? She continued. “A man like him needs to settle down and get
married.”
Several people started chiming in. Adding how they heard he turns down every woman who comes to him. How perhaps his heart is frozen and unable to love. They said alot of things that surprised me.
Just how many people were watching this man, dying to see who his mrs right would be?
My curiosity only seemed to grow the more people spoke. Five minutes later, and our names were called. meriam was shocked as we’d gotten here later than everyone else. i got up, motioning for her to join me. We walked slowly towards the front desk where al girl, not much older than me was typing away at her keyboard.
“Take the elevator to floor six, go to last door down the hall. Alpha cassiel will see you both.”
Meriam made a sound that sounded like shock and disbelief. “I’m sorry, but we’re not here to see a council member, we just want
a form for-”
The girl looked up, put a polite yet fake smile on her face. “The alpha has requested that you both come up, unless you want me to

“No no, we’ll go.” Meriam said. She was still surprised as we walked away. Just wow. Cassiel wants to see us?

Wants to see me? I’m sure. Why? is he going to refuse me the right to get a divorce form? did he contact Matthias? does he even
have matthias’s number?
god my brain isn’t sure what to make of this. But I’m ready for whatever it is that he has to say. I can only hope for the best.
We arrived at the top floor, and quietly made our way to his office door. meriam suddenly seemed afraid. i should be too, but we’ve done nothing wrong. I knocked, and heard his voice.
“Come in.”
Inhaling we opened the door and stepped in. Cassiel sat behind a large shiny black desk. He looked up from the papers in his
hands.
“Aurielle, please take a seat ‘
My heart jumped. He’s not a bad person, but i don’t know him well enough to make my own decision on what he’s like. What
should have taken minutes is now requiring me to be seated in his office?
“Would you like to join us? or you can wait outside?” Cassiel said, aiming his question at meriam, my mother in law shot me a look, i could see she was worried as well so I gave her a slight nod.
“I’ll wait outside.” she said, moving backward and shutting the door on her way out. Leaving me alone… with cassiel.
