Chapter Twelve: Aurielle DuVall
With Meriam outside waiting, I wanted to speed through this as quickly as I could, but my omega seemed to notice that she was alone with what had to be the strongest alpha wolf she’d ever encountered. Cassiel looked even better stationed behind his black
desk
A man of power and wealth. Worth more than the pack 1 live in. I cleared my throat gently to find my voice.
“You wanted to see me?”
Cassiel nodded. “Aurielle, as a luna getting a divorce form is not that simple,” he explained, and my stomach felt funny. I laid a hand above it. I already know that, but… I was still hoping to get a form. “But I did get you the form and summons. If you’re going
this route, it won’t be easy. Do you still have my number?”
Actually, last night, before I started making a list, I saved his number. Then tore the paper up into pieces. Then I tossed it into the trash can before making my list, and having to deal with my drunk husband.
I smiled at Cassiel, nodding to answer his question.
“Perfect. We’ll need to be in touch. The second your divorce form is approved, I’ll let you know, and if you need anything, just call
me”
Curiosity got the better of me. “I… why are you helping me? We only met last night? You have no reason to be nice to me, but you
are.”
Cassiel passed over the two forms, his fingers lightly brushing mine before retreating. I ignored the sensation it caused. He’s a
charming man, I’ll give him that.
“It doesn’t cost me anything to be nice. And besides, you remind me of a woman I lost once.
I blinked at that. I brought my hand to my chest. “I’m so sorry. Who was she?”
His eyes did something strange, scanning over my face, then stopping back at my eyes. “I can’t put her into words. I can only say,
she was the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met. I dream of her. We crossed paths once, and I thought the next time we met… the
next time. That time never came.”
“Life is short, isn’t it?” I commented. I wanted to soothe his ache. Even though his expression gave nothing away. I don’t think he’s as ice–cold as people would think
He chuckled. The sound ran through me for some reason. “Yes, it is. Take your chances now, Aurielle.” I shuddered. My name sounded mystical coming from his lips. Why does he say it differently? “That’ll be all.”
I thanked him and got up to leave when something crossed my mind. He’s being helpful… and….
I reached for my phone in my bag, tucking the forms into it. Then I called Cassiel’s number. His eyes widened when his phone
came to life.

“That’s my number. If you’re missing that woman, you can talk to me.”
I saw the first grin on his face. And his features became even handsome. “Thank you, you’re too kind.”

1 left after that. Meriam looked happy to see that I was okay. I wonder if she thought he’d devour me. It doesn’t matter, though. Cassiel helped us get the forms without having to wait in a long line for who knows how long. I kept thinking about that grin on
his face.
The way he said ‘Aurielle‘. My name just sounded so good coming from him. Beautiful, elegant. I guess that’s the type of man
Cassiel is. I blinked.
What? Beautiful? He is a stunning man. I was just thrown off by the look.
I inhaled and filled out the form while Meriam drove us back to the pack, and the closer we got to Matthias’s house, the more nervous I felt. He only needed to sign it, and I can send the form back.
When the car stopped, Meriam placed her hand on mine.
I glanced up at her, forming a thin line with my lips.
“It’ll be okay. Know that we’re always going to be your family. If I could change your mind…. if Matthias…” she let out an
exasperated sigh. “I really don’t want to lose you. But… your baby comes first.”
I unbuckled my seatbelt and reached over to hug her. “Thank you.”
Then I stepped out of the car and let out a strong sigh. Time to show Matthias. Hopefully, this goes well.
Matthias was in his study when I returned to the house. The servants looked at me with surprise. It was mid–afternoon at this point, and I was coming back just now. I’d never done anything like this before.
I knocked, waiting for a reply before stepping in.
He didn’t look up. “Whatever it is, make it quick”
I walked closer to his desk, making a short comparison of how the man I’d fallen for looked compared to Alpha Cassiel behind his desk. One frightened me, the other exuded power and safety. So weird how things have changed.
Though, now that I think about it… I was never safe in front of Matthias.
Not once.
I planted the paper on his desk, making sure to make enough sound to grab his attention. Matthias jolted, looked up at me, then
at the paper. Then right back at me.
“Oh, look who finally returned. I got a call from my father today about how awful I am to let my wife sleep out in the cold. Is that
what you told them you lying shrew?”
This man… this man didn’t even bother to focus on the paper, or my safety, for that matter. To even ask if I was okay. I frowned at
him.
