Chapter 9 Cecilia in Danger–1
Bodhi’s eyes landed on Cecilia and the fish tank behind her. His face softened a bit, and he stepped forward, saying, “Did you change this fish tank?”
Cecilia paused, then nodded slightly. The hall lights made her hair shine, giving her a gentle look.
“I’m getting old and forgot about this. Thanks for taking care of it,” Bodhi said with a smile. Then he asked, “Are you from the Medici family?”
Cecilia replied politely, Tm Cecilia Medici, Mr. Percy.”
Bodhi’s smile widened, and he sighed, “Time flies. When I was friends with your grandpa, you weren’t even born yet. Now you’ve grown up so beautiful, much easier on the eyes than that old cont”
Cecilia smiled lightly in response. She didn’t know her grandpa knew Bodhi.
Her grandpa, Xander Medici, passed away early. In her memory, he was a distant figure, detached from family affairs and seemingly disinterested in business.
She found it hard to imagine Xander and Bodhi being good friends. But from Bodhi’s tone, it seemed they were close
Cecilia thought about how to ask, but before she could speak, Bodhi narrowed his eyes and slowly asked, “Cecilia, are you married?*
Hearing this, Alaric glanced at her, his eyes teasing.
“Yes,” Cecilia looked away, her voice calm and emotionless.
Seeing this. Julian frowned slightly and said in a deep voice. “Mr. Percy, Cecilia is my newlywed wife.”
The term “wife” sounded harsh to Tamsin, who was standing beside Julian.
Bodhi’s smile faded as he looked at Julian with slight displeasure, saying, “You really lucked out. The grandson of a scoundrel is just as… disagreeable.”
Julian wasn’t angered and simply smiled calmly. “I remember my grandpa spoke of you often, Mr. Percy, before he passed. You were close, I believe.”
Bodhi snorted,
“Who said I was close with your grandpa?”
Once the topic started, it was hard to stop
Tamsin thought they would discuss some industry news so she could join in. But Bodhi kept reminiscing, occasionally looking at Cecilia and laughing kindly
Coming from a poor background, Tamsin felt out of place and was soon forgotten in the corner.
Julian had always supported her before, so she had never felt this awkward, unable to say a word.
Finally, when Bodhi had talked enough and walked away, Tamsin pursed her lips and said, feeling a bit wronged, “Mr. Russell, I’m a bit tired.”
Noticing the fatigue in Tamsin’s eyes, Julian felt a pang of heartbreak and said, “Alright, I’ll take you back to rest.”
“But C
Cecilia… Tamsin felt a surge of joy but put on a conflicted expression,
“She’ll be fine,” Julian said coldly, glancing in Cecilia’s direction. Bodhi was chatting and laughing with Cecilia and Alaric, along with a few foreign elders.
Tamsin followed his gaze, a hint of jealousy flashing in her eyes.
Why
y did Bodhi valur Cecilia so much? She was just a wealthy person with no knowledge of finance!
Tamsin bit her lips, suppressing her dissatisfaction, and followed Julian out of the banquet hall.
Cecilia noticed them from a distance. At this moment, Owen finally arrived and whispered to Cecilia, “Mrs. Russell, Ms. Brooks is feeling unwell, so Mr.
Hussell took her back first.”
“Got it,” Cecilia replied expressionlessly.
Owen didn’t say more. Cecilia had indeed matured or perhaps become indifferent. Even in this situation, she didn’t lose her temper as she used to.
Chapter 9 Cecil in Danger–1
Alaric stared at her for a moment and asked, “You don’t mind Julian taking her?”
Cecilia smiled, “Why should 17″
She had long stopped caring, but Julian’s actions still amused her. On one hand, he demanded she not cause any scandals that would affect his reputation, while on the other, be openly left her at the banquet to take Tamsin away.
Was he trying to make it obvious how much he favored Tamsin?
Cecilia could already picture the snide remarks and ridicule from the ladies who disliked her.
