Chapter 106
Sapphire POV
Auwe pulled upto the compound, I felt a sense of relief wash over me. We were safe, at least for the moment.
But as we got out of the car, I couldn’t shake the feeling that we were being watched. That Victor was still out there, waiting for his next opportunity
To Minikr.
Tumed to Aragon, my eyes locking onto his. “We’re not safe,” I whispered. “Not yet.”
Hin expression turned grim, his eyes scanning the surrounding area. “I know,” he growled. “But we’ll be ready for him. We’ll protect you, Sapphire. No matter what it takes.”
I nodded, feeling a surge of gratitude towards him. But as we walked towards the compound, I couldn’t shake the feeling that we were walking into a trap. That Victor was waiting for us, his eyes fixed on us like a predator stalking its prey.
And then, just as we reached the door, a loud explosion rocked the compound, sending us flying.
Flanded hard on the ground, my ears ringing from the explosion. Aragon was already on his feet, pulling me up and shielding me with his body.
“What was that?” I shouted over the dim of alarms and screams.
His eyes scanned the compound, his face set in a grim expression. “It’s him he growled. “He’s found us.”
1ch surge of fear, but his grip on my arm kept me grounded. We moved quickly, dodging debris and leaping over flames as we made our way deeper into the compound
The alarms were deafening, and the air was thick with smoke and ash I coughed, covering my mouth with my shirt as Aragon pulled me through the
We finally reached the safety of the puck’s underground bunker, a reinforced room deep beneath the compound. The door slammed shut behind us, and he spun me around, his eyes blazing with concem.
“Sapphire, are you oluy!” he demanded.
I nodded, will coughing from the smoke. I’m fine, I managed to gasp
Aragon’s face relaxed slightly, but his eyes never let mine. “We need to get you out of here,” he said. “Victor will stop at nothing to get to you.”
This was nice but wouldn’t he ask me why Victor wanted to get to me or did he already know something?
I didn’t know if it would be okay to ask him that or just allow him to take the lead
I nodded, feeling a surge of determination. “I won’t run,” I said. “I’ll face him.”
Argon’s expression turned grim. “You’re not going to face him alone,” he growled. “11 be right by your side.”
I smiled, feeling a surge of grantude towards him. Together, we would face Victor and whatever he had planned
But as we stood there, listening to the sounds of chaos and destruction above us, I couldn’t shake the feeling that we were in over our heads. That Victor was more powerful than we could ever imagine.
And then just as we were about to come up with a plan, the lights in the bunker flickered and died. We were plunged into darkness, the only sound of the heavy breathing of the pack members around us
Argon’s hand found mine, his grip light. “Stay close,” he whispered.
I nodded my heart pounding in my chest. We were trapped, and Victor was closing in.
Suddenly, a faint light appeared in the distance, illuminating the dark bunker. I squinted, trying to make out what it was.
And then, I saw him Victor. Standing in the doorway, a cruel smile spread across his face.
“Welcome, Sapphire,” he said. Tve been waiting for you.”
Victor’s eyes gleamed with triumphs as he stepped into the bunker, his presence seeining to fill the entire space. Aragon’s grip on my hand tightened, his body tensing as he prepared to defend me.
“So, you’re the one who’s been causing all the trouble,” I spat.
Victor chuckled, his smile growing wider. “Trouble? Oh, no, Sapphire. I’m just getting started.”
He took another step closer, lus eyes faxed on me with an unnerving intensity. I could feel Aragon’s anger sing his body vibrating with tension as he struggled to keep himself in check.
“You see, Sapphire, Victor continued. “you’re a very special penon,”
I felt a surge of fear as Victor’s eyes seemed to bore into my soul. What did he want from me? What could I possibly have that would be of use to
Aragon took a step forward, his body positioning itself between me and Victor. “You’re not going to touch her,” he growled.
Victor’s sunile never wavered. “Oh, I think I will,” he said. “You see, Aragon, you’re not the only one who’s been searching for Sapphire. I’ve been looking for her for a very long time. And now that I’ve found her, Fin not going to let her go.”
I felt a surge of fear as Victor’s eyes seemed to gleam with excitement. What did he plan to do with me? And how was I going to escape?
