Chapter 21
Aragon
I was running, I had no idea where I was running to but I needed to forget what I just fucking heard, it was gruesome, to say the least.
I thought she was a spoiled princess and that the was as cruel as her father but she was a victim just like I was. She had been severely punished for just exuting and I had been as cruel as her father
I shook my head, my fur ruffling as I came to a stop. I leaned against a tree as shame filled me. I have treated her worse than I ever have to anyone yet, she didn’t break. How could she really when her father had done much worse to her and she was still alive!
She thought suicide was her freedom but didn’t want to give it up because that would mean dishonoring her mother.
I was an asshole.
Alpha, we are headed back, the guards said.
Take her stuff with you, I will meet you at the park,‘
Okay
I was so sure the guards had left so ffect out the most guttural scream, the birds flew away, scared. I changed back to human and buried my head in my hands.
1 couldn’t change things now and even if I did, she would refuse it because that’s how stubborn she was. She would be angry truth before I believed her.

That wouldn’t rarm me any bonus points,
When I was sure I had gotten enough charity, I headed back to the palace. A part of me was tempted to search the whole building and see if there was any more of those but my wolf would Inerally go mad if we saw the things that used to hurt my mate.
I palmed the journal in my suit pocket and shook my head. I will be acquainting myself with her memories.
I got to the clearing and stopped short when I saw Marcel standing there, he looked worried and deep in thought
“I thought you left with them,”
He looked up, the relief in his eyes warmed me a little bit
“I couldn’t leave you alone here, in an unknown cerritory. And I figured you would want to talk” he said.
He was right, I wanted to talk about how stupid I had been to neglect the signs in front of me. To be blinded by hatred so much that I belittled another person and made them feel that helplessness they had felt before
“There is no need to beat yourself up about it, you had no idea that was what was happening.”
I shook my head, “I know you are trying to make me feel better right now but I don’t deserve it. You told me, I should have listened to you but I was
just so set in my ways.”
“Aragon, I know. You must be drowning in guilt but there is nothing you can do about it. You will soon go back to hating her, you just feel this way because your wolfis angry,”
4
I sighed. “I want to get out of here,”
“Fine, let’s go.”
I took a step and froze when I heard the sound of leaves crunching.
I scanned the forest entrance, my senses heightened by the faint sound of leaves that had caught my attention. The sound was subtle, but enough to send a ripple of unease through me.
I glanced at Marcel to see if he had heard i 100. His posture had shifted, his body low and tense as he crouched in a fighting stance. His eyes were alert, focused on the dense foliage ahead of us
Marcel, did you hear that!‘ I asked through our mindlink
“Yeah, be responded, his tone grim. It feels like an ambush
I nodded, gripping the hilt of my blade tightly. We don’t know how many there are. It was a good thing I took my blade with me. I wasn’t expecting 18 in into difficulties but one can never be too careful
infectious
Doesn’t matter, Marcel replied with a confidence that was almost infectious. We can take them.
Before I could respond, three figures emerged from the shadows of the forest, their forms gradually taking shape as they stepped into the open. They were tall and broad, their presence commanding, but I felt no fear thad faced worse.
The man in the middle, who seemed to be their leader, had an air of arrogance about him as he walked toward us. His lips curled into a m and his eyes gleamed with malice.
Marcel, never one to back down, straightened slightly, his stance still ready for a fight. “Who are you, and what do you want? His voice was

almond bored, as if these men were
men were beneath his notier.
The leader chuckled darkly, a sound that grated on my nerves. Tve been waiting patiently for you to show your face around here,” he said, his voice dripping with venons “So I could finally do what I’ve been waiting to do since the attack that day.”
Inarrowed my eyes, studying his face. There was something familar about him a shadow of recognition flickering in the back of my mind. Then it clicked. He was one of the guards who had fled during the attack, when everything had descended into clans. A coward.
Hlet out a derisive Ingh, shaking my head slowly. “So, you ran that day,” I said, my voice cold. “Didn’t even have the guts to stay y and fight. And now
you think you can win?”
His smirk faltered for a moment, I’s eyes flashing with anger. You caught us by surprise. My Alpha is drail but you will be joining him soon ‘ll regret underestimating me,” he growled.
Before I could retort, be lunged at me. ls movements quick and bratal. But I was ready. Idodged his attack effortlessly, my reflexes sharp as I sidestepped his charge. Marcel was already moving too, engaging the other two men who had remained silent but were now advancing on him.
The leader recovered from his failed attack, his free tristed in rage as he came at me again. This time, I met his blade with mine, the force of our clash sending a jolt up my arm
We exchanged blows rapidly, his macks fueled by raw anger, while I kept my movements calculated and precise. He was strong.
but he lacked the discipline and skill that came with real experience. His strikes were wild, leaving him open more often than not. It was only a matter of time before
he made a mistake.
He swung at me. aiming for my side, but twisted sway just in time. Before he could recover, I brought my blade down hard on his wrist, the impact deausing him to cry out in pain as his weapon clattered to the ground. I didn’t give him a chance to regroup, kicking him in the chest and sending him
sprawling to the ground
He looked up a me, has face a mask of disbelief and Bury. “This isn’t over.” he spat. his voice trembling with hatred.
“Oh, I think it is,” I replied, my voice steady and cold.
Out of the comer of my eye, I could see Marcel holding his own against the other two men. One of them managed in land a glancing blow on Marcel’s arm, but it only seemed to fuel his determination. He retaliated with a swift uppercut, knocking the man out cold before turning his
attention to the last one.
The remaining attacker hesitated, his confidence wavering as he watched his comrades fall. Marcel didn’t give him a chance to reconsider. With a pencerful kick, he dianned the man, sending his weapon flying across the clearing. The man stumbled back, fear flashing in his eyes, but Marcel was relentless. He grabbed the man by the collar and slammed him into a tree, the force of the impact making him gasp for nir
“Who sem you” Marcel demanded, his voice low and menacing.
The min struggled to breathe, his eyes wide with terror. “N–no one,” he stammered. “We came on our own.”
“Liar” Marcel growled, tightening his grip. “Who Sent. You?”
The man whimpered, his resolve crumbling under Marcel’s gaze. “I was, it was the new leader,” he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. “He wants to get revenge for what you did.”
Marcel’s eyes namowed dangerously. “And where is this leader now?”
The man hesitated, but a quick shake from Marcel had him spilling the informatico. “He’s.. he’s at the old fort, gathering forces. He plans to attack
Marcel released the man, letting him slump to the ground. Go back and tell your leader he’s making a mistake,” he said, his voice cold and final. “If he comes for us, we’ll be ready.”
The man scrambled to his fees, nodding frantically before turning and fleeing into the forest, his footsteps echoing in the silence that followed,
I looked at Marcel, who was already wiping the blood off his blade, his expression unreadable. “So, what now?” I asked, sheathing my weapon.
“Now,” Marcel uaid, his voice calm but with an edge of detenuation, “we prepare. This isn’t over, not by a long shot.”
I nodded, I completely agreed with him but something didn’t sit right with me. A leader wanted me to pay for what I did. I guess he wanted the power that came with the victories. I shook my head knowing I had more problems on my hands.
A rebel leader in the shadows, Hiei he knew I took the princess but there was nothing he was going to do about it. She was my prisoner and she wasn’t leaving anytime soon.
“Let’s go.” Marcel said.
He was angry, I would be too if I was randomly attacked for nothing. I did them a favor by lolling that piece of shit.
I just hoped Supplure had a much more softer hear than normal.
