Chapter 29
Aragon’s pay
I sighed for what felt like the hundredth time, my eyes glued to the file on my desk. A new transfer wolf was set to join us today, and I had spent the morning going over his details. He was young, strong, and showed incredible promise as a warrior. His name was Isaac, and I couldn’t help but feel a spark of optimism at the potential he brought. We needed new blood, and he might just be the boost our park had been looking for.
A sharp lock broke through my thoughts, and I looked up to see Marcel entering the office. Without a word. I passed the file to him. He raised an eyebrow she took it ha eyes flicking between the paperwork and me.
“is be on his way?” Marcel anked settling into the chair opposite me
I nodded. “He should be arriving any minute now”
Marcel’s expression softened slightly, the trace of a smile tugging at his lips. “You seem pretty confident about this guy
“I am,” I replied, leaning back in my chair. “From what I’ve read, he’s exactly what we need. A solid fighter, quick reflexes, and sharp instincts. I have a good feeling about him, Marcel. That’s why I agreed to bring him in.”
He studied me for a moment before giving a slow nod. “Let’s hope your gut is right ”
A knock on the door interrupted our conversation, and a guard stepped in, his stance formal. “Isaac’s here.” he announced.
Marcel and I stood, exchanging a glance. It was time to meet our newed addition led the way as we walked out of the office and headed toward the main gate. As we neared. I caught sight of two figures standing together. One of them, Linstantly recognized in Sappläre.
Her silvery laugh rang out through the air, and my blood ran cold. She was laughing with Isaac like they were old friends, like they shared some private joke that I couldn’t begin to understand. I clenched my fists, feeling jealousy curl its way around my chest, tightening with every second I watched them together.
Sapphire’s laugh was rare, almost nonexistent. She didn’t laugh like that around anyone in this pack–not even me. But here she was, her head thrown back, eyes sparkling, completely at ease with luar. It was a side of her I’d never seen, and that realization sent a stab of my straight through
inside
- me. Before I even knew
I could see the way Isaac was looking at her, utterly captaed. The sight made something udy and possessive rear up what I was doing. I was storming toward them, my feet moving on instinct, the grand rumbling low in my chest
Sapphire’s laughter cut off abruptly as she noticed me approaching, her gaze locking with mine. Her smile faded slightly, replaced by a look of surprise and maybe a hunt of caution. Isaac tumed to face me as well, his expression neutral, though his eyes still gleamed with that same easy
charm
“Alpha Aragon” se greeted his tone polite but relaxed, as if w
we were already on friendly terms,
I ignored him for a moment, my attention focused solely on Sapphire. “You seem to be enjoying yourself.” 1 said, my voice carrying a sharp edge
She tied her head slightly, studying me with those cool, unreachable eyes. “Isaac’s just telling me about his journey here. It’s not every day someone
decides to transfer packs,”
I forced myself to keep my tone even. “I see.“I finally tamed my attention to the sizing him up. He was tall, with a lean but muscular build. His eyes held a confidence that I couldn’t quite decide was arrogance or genuine self–assurance.
“We were just getting acquainted,” Isaac said, clearly sensing the tention. “Sapphire was kind enough to keep me company while I waited.”
My jaw clenched voluntarily. “How considerate of her.
Marcel stepped up beside me, his presence grounding me slightly. “Welcome, Isaac,” he said smoothly, taking control of the situation. “I’m Marcel. the pack’s Beta We’re glad to have you.”
Isaac offered a nod of acknowledgment. “Eappreciate the warm reception. I’ve heard a lot about this pack, and I’m looking forward to proving. myself”
Marcel gave him a once–over, then turned to me. “Why don’t we show him around? Ces him sertled ind
I nodded cuntly. “Let’s.”
As we walked through the park grounds, Marcel pointed out key areas and introduced Isaac to some of the other members. But my mind kept drifting back to the way he and Sapphire had been laughing together. I could still hear that melodic sound in my head, haunting me like a ghost of something I could never quite grasp.
Every time Isaac glanced back at Sapphire; I felt that same irrational flare of possessiveness rise up. It was ridiculous, I knew that. Sapphäre wasn’t mine, and I had no claim to her beyond our mate bond. But damn it if that knowledge did anything to soothe the burning resentment in my chest. When the tour was finally over, we arrived back at the main house. Marcel excused himself to handle some business, leaving me alone with luxe, The temion between us was palpable, the silence stretching uncomfortably long
Isaac broke i firi. “I can already tell this place feels like home. I appreciate you accepting me here. Alpha.”
I met his gaze, searching for any sign of deceit or ulterior motives. But all I saw was sincenty. He seemed genuinely eager to be part of our pack, and that was the most infuriating part–I couldn’t find a single reason to distrust him. Yet that didn’t stop the nagging voice in my head from whispering that I was somehow being played.

“Let’s hope you’re as good as your file claims.” I said, smable to keep the bite out of my tone. “We don’t tolerate mediocrity here.”
Isaac’s expression remained calm, unfazed by my hostility. “I wouldn’t expect anything less.”
Inodded
He looked out and then back at me like he had something to say. “Um…”
“Spit it out.”
“Aren’t you going to ask me why I asked for a tranfer!” he asked.
I was surprised he wanted to give up the information freely. I wasn’t going to pressure him but his Alpha already assured me that it wasn’t anything
“No, I was going to wait till you were ready to sell me,”
He sighed. “Thank you, Alplu
This pack was both with trust and I need you to understand that no one would judge you for what you have been through.”
“That means a lot. I am happy this pack in accepting of new people. Sapphire said so.”
A pang of guilt hit me from nowhere. She has never received a kind treatment from my pack yet she didn’t take the opportunity to say the truth when asked by a stranger.
My respect for her went up but I tampered a down after remembering that she was the daughter of my enemy,
Assac stood up to leave when he stopped by the door, “Alphs, if I may ask. Sapphire, in the mated to anyone?”
My chest vibrated with a growl that I managed to catch before it left my lips, I glared at him before I cleared my throat,
“She is not but she is not avadable,”
“Why not?”
“I am sure she can tell you that herself. Her case is special,”
He looked like he was confused but I refused to give him any kind of explanation
She was mine
