Chapter 7
Sapphire.
Tad med to my baie. I was going to get killed and there was nothing I could do about it.
It was funny. A minute ago, I was ready to get it over with and die but knowing I was going to die in a horrible way scared me more than I thought.
I held my breath as nothing happened, my captor continued towards the woods. I was starting to get uncomfortable hanging on his shoulder like a potato sark
I had no idea how far we walked till he dumped me on the ground. My body ached all over and I glared at him.
He made a move at me and I sat on him, satisfaction coursing through me from the way he stiffened. He growled and advanced on me when a chuckle made him freeze
I turned back and my eyes widened when I saw the girl from earlier, her sneer was more obvious this time as she directed it to me.
“Luna” my captor acknowledged.
I snickered and their eyes darted to me. “Is that what you are forcing them to call you? A linde eager for the role, aren’t you?”
My captor turned to me again and she held out a hand to stop him, I scoffed,
She walked closer to me, “Are you responsible for this nonsense?
Her reaction was swift and vicious. With a searl of contempt, she slapped me hard acro the face. The sting was immediate, and I staggered back, my cheek burning
“How dare you talk back to me,” she hissed. “You filthy little insect *
Iclutched my face, the shock of her words hitting me almost as hard as the slap. “Why are you doing this?” I choked out, still reeling.
She sneered, stepping closer until her breath was hot against my sidan. “I can’t allow you to spoil my plans,” she said, her voice low and venomous. “It’s better if you never existed.”
“What plans?” 1 spat back, narrowing my eyes at her. “What are you up to?”
She laughed, a cold, mirthless sound that sent a shiver down my spine. “Plans that don’t concern you. And they never will, as long as you disappear
from this place forever.”
My heart pounded in my chest. “You’re insane.” I muttered, shaking my head. “You’re not going to get away with this”
Her laughter only grew louder, more densive. You think you can stop me? You’re nothing. Less than nothing. And now, you have no choice but to pun far, far away.” She turned to the burly guard standing by the door, her face a mask of cruel amusement. “If she is not gone in the next five minutes, you have my permission to kill her.”
The guard nodded, a cold glint in his eye as he stepped forward. I took a step back, panic rising in my throat. “You can’t do this!” 1 shouted, desperation creeping into my voice. “You can’t just kill met I have done nothing to you!”
She raised an eyebrow, dearly enjoying my fear, “Oh, but I can. And I will, unless you’re smart enough to l
leave now.”
I glanced at my captor, he was clearly enjoying this. I still couldn’t see his face from the mack he wore.
My mind raced, trying to find a way out of this nightmare. “You’re making a mistake,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady. “He will notice that Tam gone and come looking for me,”
She rolled her eyes. “Please, don’t insub my intelligence. No one cares about you. No one will even notice you’re missing. Besides, who do you
think ordered this,”
Her words cut deep, but I forced myself to stay calm. “What did I ever do to you?” I asked my voice breaking slightly. “Why are you so determined to ruin my life!”
She tied her head, as af considering my question. “You existed,” she said simply “And that’s enough
The guard took another step forward, his hand moving to the sword at his belt. I had to act fast. “Wait” I shouted, holding up my hands. “I’ll go. I’ll leave right now. Just don’t
She smirked, clearly satisfied. “Good choice. Now get out of my sight.”
I turned and bolted into the woods, my heart pounding. The guard stepped aside just enough for me to squeeze past, and I could feel his eyes boring into my back as I fled.
Tştumbled further into the cold night air, my mind still reeling. I had to get as far away from here as possible. But where could I go? Who could
? I had no one on my side.
I didn’t have time to think I just ran, my feet aching, my breath coming in ragged gaps. I had to survive.
But first. I had to stay alive.
Fear crippled me, but I ran ignoring the cuts from the branches. The forest was thick, and every sharp twig that scraped my skin felt like a reminder of the danger I was in
I looked down and frowned when I saw I had nothing on my feet to protect them. The rough ground tore at the soles of my feet, but I ignored it and pushed my legs farther. There was no time to think about the pain.

A growl echoed from the back of the house, a deep, menacing sound that sent my heart into overdrive. I ran even faster, my breath coming in ragged gaps. The only thing on my mind was putting as much distance between me and that house as possible.

1 listened intently, but everywhere was silent. The guard wasn’t even chating me. It was too quiet, eerily so. I had an inkling from mind, but I didn’t want to think of it
I slowed down for a moment, gasping for air. The silence was oppressive, weighing heavily on me. Why wasn’t the guard chasing met What kind of game was she playing?
My heart constricted with the amount of hatred 1 felt for her, I wanted nothing more than to erase that smirk on her fire.
I leaned against a tree, trying to steady my breathing. The forest was still save for the occasional rustle of leaves in the breeze. I strained my ears, hoping to hear something, anything that would indicate where they were. But there was nothing.
My mind raced with possibilities. Had she called him off? Was this some twisted part of her plan to scare me! I couldn’t trust the silence. It was too unnatural, too calculated. Every fiber of my being told me I was still in danger but I just didn’t know what the danger was
I pushed myself off the tree and started mining again, ignoring the pain in my feet. Ineeded to find a way out of this forest, a way to safety. My thoughts were jumbled, but one thing was clear, I couldn’t stop.
