Whoever created patience apparently hadn’t met me. The more I waited for Aragon, the more my anger built up and I keep saying that bitch is hucky that I want to set an example for my child
He can’t witness his mother beating someone up even if the certain someone was a bitch. I was inching for a fight and she would have been the perfect person to deliver.
Leah had long given up on encouraging words and just settled for silence. I preferred that.
I was still faming, paring the kitchen like a caged animal, when Aragon walked in with Marcel Both men stopped short, their conversation halting abruptly when they saw me standing there. My arms were crossed tightly over my chest and Leah was at the stove, trying and failing to pretend she wasn’t listening intently.
Aragon smiled tentatively. “Hey,” he began, but his smile faltered as he took in the look on my face. “What’s wrong?”
I didn’t answer immediately. Instead, I fixed him with a glare that could have frozen fire. He blinked, clearly caught off guard.
“What’s wrong?” I repeated. “How do you think everything is alright when your pack is still the same toxic mess it was when I left?”
Marcel stiffened, his gaze darting between us, but Aragon stepped closer, holding his hands up as if approaching a wi
a wild animal.
“Calm down,” he said softly, his tone soothing but cautious. “What happened?”
I let out a bitter laugh, shaking my head. “What happened! Your pack happened, Aragon. Same old, same old. I was the only one who grew up, I cannot believe this happened and on my first day back” I took a deep breath. “That woman the one who decided to comer me and call Charlie a Bastard happened. She came to warn me, as the protector of the pack and ultimate defender of whoever the Luna is. I don’t give a shit. The kids who pushed him down happened. He was bleeding and crying, Aragon. Bleeding.”
His face darkened instantly, the smile vanishing as his jaw tightened. “She what“”
I took another breath, trying to suppress the tears that threatened to spill. “She threatened me,” I said quietly, the words tasting bitter on my tongue. “She called Charlie names. And the children-“My voice cracked slightly, but I swallowed hard and pressed on “They said they just pushed him, but be was bleeding and sobbing when I found him. That’s more than just a little push. I am not blaming them because they are just kids but I am saying someone must have put them up to it. My poor baby,”
Aragon closed the distance between us in two strides and wrapped his arms around me. The unexpected warmth and comfort of his embrace undad the fragile hold I had on my emotions.
“I’m so sorry,” he murmured.
That was all it took. The tears I’d been holding back finally spilled over, and 1 buried my face against his chest, sobbing as all the frustration, fear, and anger of the day came crashing down on me.
The mere thought that someone could hurt such an innocent boy because of some vendetta against me, made me so upset.
He held me tightly, his hand rubbing soothing circles on my back. “It’s okay?” he whispered. “I’ll take care of it. I promise.”
It took a few minutes, but eventually, I pulled away, wiping my cheeks with the back of my hand. I looked up at him. “You better take care of it Aragon, because the next person who threatens my son is going to get knocked out. And ln not even joking“
A small, amused smile tugged at the corner of his mouth, but he quickly schooled his expression when he saw the fire in my eyes.
Marcel who had been sent this entire time, finally spoke. “Do you want me to handle it?” he asked Aragon.
Aragon shook his brad, his focus still on me. “No, I’ll deal with it myself.”
Leah, who had been uncharacteristically quiet, cleared her throat “I can keep an eye on Charlie while you sort this out,” she offered.
“Thank you” Told.
Aragon tumed to Marcel “Find out who the kids are and make sure their parents know this won’t be tolerated.”
Marcel nodded and left without another word, I heaved a sigh of relief at how effective this was.
Aragon turard back to me, his expression tender but resolute. “No one will hurt Charlie again, I swear to you”
Theld his gaze for a puoment, searching for any sign of insincerity, but there was none. His promise was strong and for the first time today, I felt something move inside me,
“You’ve got a lot of work to do,” I uid, my lone softening but still firm. “This pack lusn’t changed, Aragon. And if you think 171 just stand by and let thetreat Clure like this, you’re dead wrong. I will fight for my son and I would kill for him too, so let your pack members keep that in mind when they want to hurt him,”
He nodded, his eyes never leaving mine. “i know. And I’m sorry it’s taken me this long to see it.”
The apology in has voice was genine, and it made my chest ache. I wanted to be angry at him, to yell, to blame him for not fixing this sooner but the uncerty in his words made it impossible.
“Tustrating you.” I said finally. “Don’t let me down.
He stepped closer, taking my hand in has. “I won’t,” he promised.

Leah broke the moment with a loud clatter as she set down a steaming mug of tea on the counter. “Well,” she said brightly, “it sounds like we’ve got a

I took a sip, savoring the warmth as it spread through me. “I will be.” I said honestly.
She nodded, her gaze thoughtful. “You know, it’s good that you’re standing your ground. This pack needs someone to shake them up.”
I raised an eyebrow at her. “You don’t think I’m overreacting”
“Not even a little,” she said firmly. “This shouldn’t have happened to Charlie especially not his first time here. He deserves better. And so do you.” “Thank you, that means a lot. I just hope they would see it the same way I do. I don’t want to be the enemy but I could be if they push me.” I vowed.
