With much effort, I finally fell asleep I refused to leave Charlie’s side, mostly because I was scared and anxious to leave him alone
Aragon ined to convince me to go to my own room but I couldn’t. I wanted to look after Charlie and be at peace.
I cuddled my baby to my chest and slept peacefully.
When I woke, I reached out instinctively to tickle Charlie awake, as I often did whenever we slept together. My hand, however, met nothing but the cool sheets. My eyes shot open, scanning the empty bed.
“Charlie” I called softly, but the silence in the room sent my heart racing.
1 waited but there was silence
Panic flooded my chest, and every worst case scenario sprang to mind. Had someone snuck in and taken him?
Was I careless to sleep when my son was in danger!
I could feel the walls closing in as the horrifying thoughts swirled. My breathing grew shallow, and I slid off the bed, pressing my hands to my in a desperate attempt to calm down

Relief slammed into me like a wave as I saw them. Charlie’s small hand clung to his father’s, his eyes shining as he smiled up at him. Aragon was halancing a tray of breakfast in his other hand, looking every bit the confident Alpha he always was
But when his eyes met mine, the easy smile on his face faded. He quickly set the tray down on the nearest table and crossed the room in a few long
strides.
“Hey,” he said, crouching in front of me, his large hands wrapping around mine. “What happened?”
I swallowed hard, trying to gather myself as I met his worried paze. “I woke up, and he wasn’t here,” I said. “T—I thought something had happened to

His expression softened instantly, guilt flickering across his features. He pulled me up gently from the floor, his hands firm yet tender. “I’m so sorry.” he said camestly. “Charlie didn’t want to wake you. He came to me instead so we could make breakfast for you.”
“You should’ve told me,” I whispered, though the sharp edge of my panic had begun to fade.
He cupped my face, his thumb brushing softly against my cheek. “I know, and I should’ve. But I promised you, remember? Nothing will happen to Charlie. Not on my watch.”
Before I could respond, a small, quivering voice pulled my attention.
“Muminy
I turned to find Charlie standing behind Aragon, his big brown eyes brimming with tears. My heart clenched as he moved closer, wrapping his tiny arms around my legs.
“I’m sorry, Mummy,” he said.

Trans prickled my own eyes as I bent down to his level and scooped him into my arms. “Oh, baby,” I murmured, holding him tightly. “You didn’t scare me on purpose, okay! I was just being dramatic,”
He snuffled and pulled back slightly to look at me. “I just wanted to make you breakfast so you can relax,” he said, his lip trembling
My heart melted at his words. I kissed his forehead gemily, stroking his messy curls. “You’re such a good boy,.” I told him. “And as your mum, it’s my job to worry about you. But that doesn’t mean I’m upset with you. I’m not blaming you at all”
“Promise?” he asked, his little face searching mine for reassurance.
“I promise,” I saa

His arma tightened around me in another hug, and then he surprised me by kissing my cheek. “I love you, Mummy,” he whispered.
“Hove you too,” Lirplied.
Aragon, whol een watching quietly, cleared his thưval. “So, does that mean we can finally eat before the pancakes get cold””

“You dal?” I said, glancing over at the tray they had brought in. “Let’s see this masterpiece.”

myself questioning my sanity for still choosing to remain here.
Is this how I would behave in the mornings when I can’t find him?
“Sat on the bed so I can serve you,” he ordered.
I raised a brow at his tone and he blushed, “Please, nummy!”
“That’s much better but I have already eaten,”

“You weren’t supposed to, I wanted you to eat with me in bed. Daddy said it would make you relax more.
My eyes darted to Aragon who was suddenly looking away from me.
“You think I am not relaxed?
He sighed. “I didn’t mean it in the way you think. Charlie
as worried about you and wanted to make you breakfast, I only convinced him that serving you breakfast in bed would relax you more. Look at him your worries are making him worry even if you don’t see that,”
“Will you blame me?” I asked him,
He shook his head. “No, I don’t. Which is why you are coming with me to meet the parents of those children. I don’t want you comitantly on guard because of Charlie’s ufety.”
“Tunderstand, then we don’t have a problem.”
“Let’s eat,” Charlie whined
laughed and ruffled his hair before climbing the bed, he happily helped Aragon carry the tray of food to me. He sat down and looked at Aragon expectantly so he could sit down.
When we were settled, he grinned with satisfaction.
As we are, Charlie chartered nonstop, recounting every detail of their breakfast–making adventure. He was so animated that I found myself leaning back, simply watching him and soaking in the moment.
It looked like he liked spending time with his father because 1 caught a whiff of admiration in his voice when he mentioned Aragon.
Aragon caught my gaze and gave me a small, knowing smile. “Seel” he murmured quietly. “He’s safe here, stop worrying ”
I nodded, reaching out to squeeze his hand briefly. “I can’t help it,” I shot back but I sighed, “Thank you.”
After breakfast. Charlie insisted on showing me and his father his new “superhero jump,” which involved him leaping from one side of the room to the other while yelling, “Powl” I watched him, laughing and cheering, while Aragon leaned against the doorframe with an amused grin
“You’ve got quite the energy, little man,” he said, ruffling Charlie’s hair as he zoomed past.
“I’m practicing so I can protect Mummy! Charlie declared proudly, striking a pose.
I felt my throat tighten at his words. “You’re my little hero,” Lasid, pulling him into another hug,
“I am!” he said confidently, though his small arms wrapped tightly around my neck betrayed just how much he still needed me to be his protector
Aragon crossed the room, resting a hand on my shoulder as he bent down to kis the top of Charlie’s head. “And I’ve got your back, buddy.”
Curle’s face lit up as he nodded. “Teamwork!” he shoured, throwing his arms in th
I chuckled, glancing up at Aragon. “Looks like I’ve got the best team around.”
He smiled, his eyes warm and filled with something that made my heart ache in the best way. “Yeah, you do.”
He straightened and I cleared my throat, “I should get ready so we could go.”
“Yes, meet me downstairs when you are ready. I will show you some of the things you love misseil‘
