Sapphire.
Aragon’s hand moved gently over my back as I let it all out, it was like my brain was waiting for his soothing presence for me to finally let my guard down. He was patient as I got it all out of my system. I didn’t even know why I was crying because I handled that pretty well over the call but for some reason, the mere sight of him had me bawling.
When I wiped my eyes with the back of my hand and faced him, he was still looking a me with that concerned expression that made me want to cry
more.
“What did Benita want?” he asked.
I exhaled sharply, the frustration returning in waves. “She called to rattle me, as usual,” I admitted, closing my eyes briefly. “But it’s worse this time She’s in my company, posing as an investor. Aragon, she got into my company, using my assistant’s phone to call me.”
His hand stilled. “In your company?” His voice was sharper now, the edge of protectiveness unmistakable. “Why would she-”
“She’s trying to make me shake,” I interrupted. “I need to go back and see what’s happening. I can’t just sit here while she tries to dismantle everything I’ve built. I had my sweat and blood poured into it, that’s my whole life’s work.” My words tumbled out in a rush, fueled by anger and gnawing sense of helplessness I despised.
I cannot remember the last time I felt so helpless apart from a year ago when I had no backbone.

“He pulled me back gently, his hands firm on my shoulders. “You’re not going anywhere,” he said, his tone leaving no room for argument. “What if that’s exactly what she wants? What if this is a trap? Benita knows you. She knows how much your company means to you. She’s probably banking on you running straight into her hands.”
I blinked, his words sinking in. “She’s going to hurt me either way,” I said quietly. “If I let her destroy my company, she wins. If I confront her, at least I’m fighting back.”
*And risking more than just your company,” he countered. “Have you thought about what could happen if you walk into her trap? She doesn’t play fair, and you know it.”
I pressed my fingers to my temples, the pressure building behind my eyes. “I just, I can’t let her win, Aragon. This isn’t just business to me.”
“I know,” he said softly. “But you need to calm down and think. Please.”
I took a shaky breath, trying to focus. He was right, as much as I hated to admit it. Benita thrived on chaos from what I have learned, and rushing into her game without a plan would only give her the upper hand. What if this was her goal all along, to provoke me, to make me react without thinking?
My fingers tightened into fists, but I forced myself to unclench them. “If Clara needs me, she’ll call,” I murmured, more to myself than to him. “She hasn’t called yet, so maybe… maybe I should wait.”
Aragon handed me a bottle of water, his steady presence grounding me. “You don’t have to fight right away. I am sure she would call then I will go with you when it’s time but right now, you are not going,” he said, his tone leaving no room for argument.
I nodded, sipping the water and feeling some of the tension begin to ease. “I need to lay down,” I admitted, the emotional toll of the morning finally catching up with me.
I felt feverish all of a sudden.
Without a word, he helped me upstairs with his arm around my waist. When we reached my room, he guided me to the bed, laying me down with a care that made my chest ache.
“I’ll check on you later,” he said, starting to turn away.
“Wait,” I said, my hand catching his arm. “Stay. Please.”
He hesitated for a moment before nodding. He climbed into bed beside me, facing me with those steady, piercing eyes that always seemed to see straight through my defenses.
“Thank you,” I whispered, leaning closer. I pressed my lips to his, needing the connection, the reassurance that I wasn’t facing this alone.
He froze at first, his restrain evident, but when I kissed him again, more urgently, he relented. “You don’t have to do this,” he murmured.
“I need you,” I said. “Please, Aragon. Just make me forget, even if it’s only for a little while.”
He searched my face, his expression torn, but then his hand cupped my cheek, his thumb brushing away a stray tear I hadn’t realized I’d shed. “Okay,” he said softly.
What followed was a quiet, intimate connection that felt like the only solid ground in a world spinning out of control. He was tender, every touch and movement deliberate, as though he were trying to erase the weight I carried. For a while, I allowed myself to let go, to focus only on him, on us, and nothing else.
There was no foreplay, he took off his clothes and I took off mine. He captured my nipple in his mouth as one hand stroked my pussy. I whimpered under the sheets and my back arched for more of his touch.
I moaned when he slid down the sheets and his warm mouth covered my pussy in one swift lick, I trembled from the sheer pleasure and the knowledge that I was denying myself of this every time I create distance between us.
He came up for air and I felt the crown of his dick nudge my entrance. The sex was hard and rough, enough to let me forget what I was worried

about for a while.
Afterward, we lay tangled together, his arm draped over me protectively. The chaos in my mind had quieted, replaced by a calm I hadn’t felt in weeks. I traced patterns on his chest absently, my mind still lingering on Benita but less frantically now.
“You’re too good to me,” I said softly, breaking the silence.
He tilted his head to look at me, a faint smile tugging at his lips. “Someone has to keep you grounded.”
I chuckled, though it was a tired sound. “I don’t deserve you.”
“Maybe not,” he teased, brushing a strand of hair from my face. “But you’ve got me anyway.”
I leaned into his touch, grateful in a way I couldn’t put into words. “I’ll figure this out,” I said, more to myself than to him. “I always do.”
*And I’ll be here when you do,” he replied simply.
With that, I let myself drift off, wrapped in the warmth of his arms and the fleeting sense of peace they brought. For the first time ever, I didn’t feel
completely alone in the storm.
