Chapter 14: Tyson Spiraled
Tyson
“We did this,” my wolf growled, his voice cold and accusing.
I ignored him, running a hand through my hair. The severed bond left an ache that no
amount of whiskey could numb. My hands shook as I gripped the edge of the desk, and my breath came in sharp, uneven
gasps.
“Alpha, the pack is in chaos,” Jason, my beta, said as he entered without knocking.
I turned and glared sharply at him. Most wolves would stop, but Jason didn’t flinch. He knew me well enough and was no longer afraid.
“They’re restless. They‘ re questioning your decisions. First Kate, now Stella in the cells. The elders…”
“Enough!” I roared, slamming my hand

on the desk.
The sound reverberated through the room, but Jason didn’t back down.
“You‘ re losing their trust,” he said, undeterred.
“If you don’t act, they’ll demand
step down.”
My jaw tightened.
“Let them try.”

Later, as the pack gathered in the main hall, the tension was evident. Elders exchanged uneasy glances, and warriors whispered amongst themselves. I stood at the head of the room, my gaze sweeping over the faces of my pack. These werewolves had once looked at me with loyalty and respect. Now, I saw doubt, and worse, disappointment.
“We have always thrived if we’re united. But recent events have tested us. Lies and betrayal have poisoned what we’ve built.

“And yet, Alpha, it is you who must lead by example. The pack sees a leader unraveling,” Elder Marius said.
“Careful,” I warned, my wolf stirring at the challenge in his tone.
“You know I speak the truth. The pack needs stability, and if you can’t provide it…”
“Enough!” I growled, cutting him off.
“This is my pack.
“For how long?” someone muttered from the crowd.
The words hit like a slap, and I scanned the room, daring anyone to meet my gaze, but no one did. The meeting ended with the back dissatisfied.
When I returned to my office, the storm grew louder like my feelings. My hands trembled as I poured another drink.

Stella’s voice cut through my thoughts as she suddenly appeared in the doorway, escorted by two guards. She was no longer the innocent, sweet, and confident woman she was.
“Tyson,” she said in a trembling voice.
“Why are you here?” I demanded.
She stepped forward, wringing her hands.
“I wanted to explain.”

“Explain?” I laughed bitterly.
“Explain how you lied to me? To the pack?”
Tears welled in her eyes, but I didn’t
waver.
“You knew what you were doing. You manipulated me, manipulated Kate…..”
“I didn’t mean for it to go this far!” she cried in desperation.
“Far enough to destroy everything,” I spat, my wolf snarling in agreement. “And

now, you’ll face the consequences.
She took a shaky step back, her hands protectively cradling her stomach. “You can‘ t…‘
“Guards,” I barked.
The wolves stepped forward; their eyes locked on Stella.
“Take her back to the cells. She‘ s to
remain under watch until the council
decides her fate.”
“Tyson, please!” she begged as the guards grabbed her arms.
Her cries echoed down the hall, but I
didn’t turn back. Hours later, I sat alone in the darkness, feeling the weight of what happened pressed around me. My wolf’s voice, once a constant companion, was silent now, leaving me with only my thoughts for company.
“Kate deserved better,” I admitted to
myself.

But the truth was undeniable. I had lost
her, not because of Stella, but because of
my pride, my fear, and my inability to be the mate she needed.
A knock at the door shattered the silence, and Elder Marius stepped inside, his face grim.
“The council has spoken,” he said softly.
I didn’t move, didn’t react.
“It’s time for you to step down, Tyson. For the good of the pack.”
His words lingered as I stared at the empty glass in my hand.
“For how long?” I asked, my voice
hollow.
“Until you prove you‘ re worthy of leading again.”
As he left, I sat in the dark, crying. I lost
my mate. I couldn’t have children. And
for the first time, I wondered if I could ever lead a pack like before.
