Chapter 15: A Growing Connection

The Crimson Moon Pack‘ s celebration was a spectacle, every detail screaming wealth and unity. I adjusted my simple dress and surveyed the room. Wolves from various packs mingled, exchanging toasts and laughter. At least here, I wasn’t the focal point of whispers or pitying glances, so the tension in my shoulders eased slightly.
Kent stood by the bar. He raised his glass with a smirk, and I rolled my eyes but couldn’t help the tiny smile escaping my lips.
“Luna Kate, it’s good to have you here,” a Crimson Moon Pack member said.
I accepted it with a polite nod.
“Thank you. This pack knows how to host
a celebration.”

“We’ve had plenty to celebrate lately. And it seems we’ll have even more soon.”
“What do you mean?”
Before he could answer, the room quieted. Kent stepped onto a small stage at the center, commanding attention. He raised his glass and smiled.
“Thank you all for coming tonight. This gathering isn’t just about our recent victories. It’s about the alliances that make those victories possible. And tonight, I’d like to honor one such alliance.‘
Everyone was filled with anticipation as he gestured toward me. My heart skipped a beat, and my wolf stirred, intrigued and cautious.
“I want to formally acknowledge Kate as a part of Crimson Moon Pack’s future. Her resilience and strength have inspired us, and I’m proud to stand by her side.”
A murmur spread through the crowd, and my stomach tightened. Was this a public

proposal? I shot Kent a look, but his expression was unreadable.
“To alliances and unity!” he declared, raising his glass.
“To alliances!” the crowd echoed, though some exchanged puzzled glances.
Later, I slipped out to the terrace, needing air to process what had just happened. The cool breeze was a welcome relief as I leaned against the railing. My wolf nudged me, her presence calm yet insistent.
“You‘ re making quite the impression,” Kent‘ s voice drawled from behind me.
I turned; arms crossed.
“What was that? Declaring me the Crimson Moon Pack’s future?”
He leaned casually against the doorway; his smirk unapologetic.
“It was an acknowledgment. Nothing more.”

“It felt like more.”
“Did it?” he asked.
He didn’t let me answer and continued, “Kate, you deserve to be seen, respected, and cherished. That‘ s all I meant.”
I looked away, unsure how to respond with his sincerity. But the moment shattered when a commotion erupted inside. Shouts and growls echoed, and we rushed back into the hall to find Tyson standing near the entrance, furious.
“What are you doing here?” Kent demanded, stepping between Tyson and the crowd.
Tyson’s gaze landed on me, and the anger in his eyes softened momentarily.
“I needed to see you, Kate.”
“This isn’t the place.”
“It’s not your concern,” Tyson snapped.
“It is when you‘ re on my territory,

Kent growled.
“Enough,” I yelled, stepping forward.
The tension between the two was
suffocating, and I couldn’t take it.
“What do you want, Tyson?”
His eyes met mine, filled with regret and desperation.
“To fix what I broke. To start over.

“There’s nothing to fix. You made your choice, and so did I.
“”
“Kate, please,” he pleaded, ignoring Kent’s growl.
“I was wrong. About everything. I see that now. Please, Kate, I beg you to
reconsider.”
The room fell silent, all eyes on us.
“I don‘ t care,” I said coldly.
“You don’t get to rewrite history because it’s convenient for you.”

Before Tyson could respond, Kent stepped closer, turning as a protective wall.
“You’ve had your say. Now leave.”
Tyson‘ s jaw clenched, his wolf flashing in
his eyes.
“Kate, I will wait for you.”
He turned and stormed out, leaving everyone gasping. I returned to the terrace. The cool air helped calm my racing heart, letting me breathe. Kent joined me, looking concerned and understanding.
“You handled that well,” he said after a
moment.
“I’m tired of all of this,” I admitted.
“I’m ashamed, but thank you…for stepping in.”
“Don’t be. I’ll always be here.”
Earlier, I planned to tell Kent I wanted to accept him as my mate. But tonight was overwhelming, and Tyson scared me, I
