Chapter 16: Tyson‘ s Desperation
Kate
I had tried to forget everything that happened earlier, but Tyson‘ s presence still haunted me. His words, his
desperation, clung to me like a shadow. I bolted the door to my room and slid under the covers, seeking refuge in my bed. My wolf stirred uneasily, her restlessness mirroring mine.
“He’s gone,” I murmured, unsure if I was reassuring her or myself.
My wolf growled low in response. A shiver ran down my spine, but I dismissed it. Kent had assured me that the pack was secure, and patrols doubled. I should have felt safe, but something was still off.
It wasn’t until I heard the faint creak of a floorboard that I realized why.
I bolted upright, catching my breath. The

room was dark, the moonlight casting eerie patterns on the walls, but I knew someone was there.
“Kate,” a familiar voice broke the silence.
“Tyson,” I hissed, my heart pounded.
He stepped into the faint light with eyes. glowing with his wolf. His scent, once. comforting, now felt intrusive and wrong.
“What the hell are you doing here?” I demanded.
“I needed to talk to you. We can still fix this, Kate.”
“Fix this?” I snapped; anger flared within.
- me.
“You broke into my room in the middle of the night to fix things? Are you out of your mind?”
“I know I made mistakes,” he said, stepping closer.
“But the bond… it’s still there. I can feel

it, Kate. If I could just…”
“If you could just what?” I interrupted.
“Sink your teeth into me like it’s the solution? That’s not how this works, Tyson. Not anymore.”
His eyes flickered with desperation, and his wolf flashed in them.
“You don’t mean that. I can make you feel it again. Only one bite, Kate, and the mate bond would reignite. We can start over.”
“Get out,” I said, my voice trembling but firm.
“Now!”
When he moved closer, my wolf surged forward, claws itching beneath my skin.
“I said get out, Tyson!”
Before he could respond, the door flew open. I turned to see Kent standing in the doorway. His eyes burned with fury, jet

black, like his wolf.
“Step away from her,” Kent growled.
Tyson turned, his body stiffening.
“This is between me and Kate. Why are you always meddling?” he snarled.
“She is under my protection, and you are in my land,” Kent shot back.
The tension in the room crackled like a live wire as the two Alphas squared off. Tyson’s wolf growled; his body coiled like a spring ready to snap.
“You’ve lost her. And you‘ re not getting her back,” Kent added.
“You think you can keep her from me?” Tyson spat.
“She’s mine.”
“She was yours,” Kent corrected.
“You threw that away the moment you chose someone else.”

Tyson’s control broke, and he lunged at Kent. Kent moved with a speed and force that took Tyson off guard, slamming him against the wall. The sound echoed, and I flinched as Tyson’s growl turned into a pained snarl.
“You‘ re done here. Leave. Now!”
Tyson struggled against Kent‘ s grip.
“You don’t get to decide,” Tyson hissed.
“I just did.”
Kent released him with a shove, and Tyson stumbled toward the door, his chest heaving. He turned to me, his eyes wild and pleading.
“Kate, please…” he said.
“It’s over, Tyson. Accept it.”
His jaw tightened, and he looked like he might say something else. But then he stormed out, slamming the door behind him. The room was silent except for the sound of my ragged breathing.

“Are you okay?” Kent asked.
I nodded, though my hands were trembling.
“I will be.”
“You‘ re safe now. I know Tyson has been bothering you, but this is the last. I promised he wouldn’t touch you again.”
I managed a nod. Kent straightened, his hand briefly brushing mine.
“Get some rest. I’ll be just outside.”
He hugged me before he went out and softly closed the door. The room felt quieter now, but my wolf still stirred uneasily. Tyson had attempted several times to persuade me, even forced me. But we didn’t know if it would be the last time. However, hearing Kent outside guarding me, I trusted him.
