He was so tall.
In a sharp black suit, he had a buzz cut and sharp, chiseled features.

Chapter 8
He had an overbearing aura, the kind that belonged to those in long–term. power only. He didn’t have to be mad to be intimidating, and no one could be bold enough to look him in the eye.
I lowered my head, my body tensed up.
Shaun walked over to me, his shadow enveloping me.
I tried to organize my words.
“Mr. Chapman, it’s not my fault. She…”
I could no longer utter a word.
Purchase completed
Because he bent down and hugged me.
He wrapped his arms around my waist so tightly that I could even hear my bones cracking.
I felt the fabric on my shoulder getting damp
My mind went blank.
Was he… crying?
“Mona.”
“Mona.”
“Mona…”
He repeated my name again and again in a broken voice, his body
trembling all over.
“Yes, it’s me. I’m Mona. Mr. Chapman, let go!”
I pushed him away.
Thalia’s eyes were utterly red as she complained to him hysterically.
“Shaun! Look at what she’s done! She totally beat Laura and me up!”
I immediately explained myself, “They started it.
“Mr. Chapman, I…”
Again, I didn’t get to finish.
Because he suddenly bent over and picked me up.
Throughout this whole time, his gaze fixed on me, and he didn’t even shoot Thalia a glance. He sized me up from head to toe, his eyes filled with ecstasy, astonishment, as well as bitterness as if I were some lost
treasure.
“I know. Don’t be afraid, Mona.
“I will never let anyone hurt you again. Are you injured?”
As his gaze fell on my reddened knuckles, it darkened immediately.
“What are you waiting for? Get the medical team to be here with a stretcher and call an ambulance!”
With that, he strode outside with me in his arms.
His tone was urgent, and he looked nervous, which almost made me wonder if I’d die at any second.
“Hang in there, Mona. The ambulance will be here right away.”
I lowered my head to look at my fingers.
My knuckles reddened because I beat those two up.
But that wasn’t the point.
Why was I in Shaun’s arms? What was wrong with him?
As I was in a daze, a familiar voice rang out.
“Mona!”
Turning my head around, I saw Lawrence and Arnold standing at the elevator, panting.
Obviously, they ran here.
Arnold’s bangs, which were always neat, were blown upright by the wind and fell backward in disarray, and I could see his sharp brow bones.
His cheeks flushed, and his eyes were slightly teary.
It made him even more handsome.
I waved at him.
“Arnold…”
Suddenly, it occurred to me I was still in Shaun’s arms. I immediately struggled and jumped down.
Then I ran toward Arnold and wrapped my arms around his arm.
“Let’s go, Arnold. People here are sick.”
I just wanted to leave as soon as possible. What if Shaun asked me for a refund when he found those notebooks were damaged?
“It’s you.”
Shaun’s tone was utterly icy as he clenched his fists.
“I should have known. It’s been a while, Arnold.”
Arnold wrapped his arm around my shoulders, his gaze sweeping over me. He breathed a sigh of relief after confirming I wasn’t hurt.
Sneering, he looked at Shaun.
“Mr. Chapman, you and I don’t know each other well. Today will be the last time we see each other.
“My fiancée gets anxious around people, especially strangers.”
